Saux – Save The World

Saux

Saux

Dutch producer/DJ and 22 Tracks curator, Saux takes inspiration from left-field disco, tropical music and contemporary pop.

His new track, ‘Saves The World’ is as you’d expect. It has a slow but solid disco back-beat with sweet funk guitar riffs, and stripped-back and smoothed-out vocals.

Of the track, Saux says; “Musically it’s a melting pot – it’s my interpretation of many different influences. Sound-wise it’s my way of trying to capture a warm saturated sound with few layers like the old Arthur Russell disco records or South African 70’s pop. The song talks about how relationships can be influenced so much by emotional and physical distance.”

The track is out now, on his own imprint, Cahors Recordings.

Sounds like: Friendly Fires, Metronomy, Ben Khan, Royce Wood Junior, XO

Leo Kalyan – Daydream

Leo Kalyan

Leo Kalyan

London native, Leo Kalyan, releases the video for ‘Daydream’; a stunning and an emotive track with an equally as mesmerising video.

The hypnotic stock motion visual was animated by Ruth Barrett and directed by Hazlett-Beard. It once again showcases Kalyan’s boundless ability to draw upon ‘close to the bone’ emotions and wrap them perfectly in an infectious soulful R&B pop sheen.

Speaking of the video Kalyan, described how “For the “Daydream” video, I wanted to bring my collage artworks to life. I design all my own song artwork so the colours and textures that I use are chosen to represent how the song feels to me. For this video, I wanted to take it a step further by making it move. Much like my last video there isn’t a specific storyline to follow. It’s more about a mood, a vibe, and an aesthetic. It’s about momentarily letting your mind wander into a different, slightly surreal world – just like a daydream.”

Watch below.

Leo’s four-track EP, ‘Silver Linings’, has been produced by friend and frequent collaborator XO and is out now.

Sounds like: XO, Ben Khan, Xan Young, Jai Paul

Demo Taped – Game On

Demo Taped

Demo Taped

18-year-old Demo Taped shares the juxtaposing, colourful video for his synth pop number, ‘Game On’; a bold shout out to anxiety and depression, which he has suffered for years.

Demo Taped decided, that despite the panic attacks and suicidal thoughts, and despite the heartbreak that lead him to write this song (it’s a love song, but also a “fuck you, mental illness” anthem), he would channel that energy into making music and staying alive.

Sounds like: NAO, XO, Ben Khan, Flume

XO – Night Time Solace

XO

XO

A new wave of indie R&B male vocalists from the UK continues. This time, it’s 20 year old Staffordshire born producer and songwriter XO (aka Sunil Heera).

His latest release continues to live up to the hype and sees XO play with just as many disparate influences as his first two EP’s — neo soul, funk, hip hop, the faint pulse of deep house – with an added abstract twist.

The A side, ‘Divive Disaster’, features the vocals of Sydney based newcomer James Chatburn, and was also influenced by the story of 2014 film ‘Gone Girl’ with Heera claiming the EP to be about how “our head and heart can sometimes be in two different places, in some cases we confront it and in others we learn to live with it”.

The B-side, ‘Night Time Solace’, favours woozy, blown-out sounds and sample-heavy electronica for a gorgeous slice of twisted soul.

‘Divine Disaster’ / ‘Night Time Solace’ is out now on his own label, He Loves You Not Recordings,

Sounds like: Jai Paul, Ben Khan, The Weeknd, SOHN, Jack Garratt, Alex Vargas, NAO
