LANY

LANY

Devastating pop trio, LANY, have cheered us right up with the new video for ‘ILYSB’ (I love you so bad), probably our favourite LANY song to date.

Speaking of the video, lead singer, Paul Klein, says, “I turned ‘ILYSB’ into a tragedy of unhealthy obsession and unrequited love that ultimately led to psychotic behavior and total derailment.” We’ve all been there, Paul.

LANY create new wave electronica with heart melting lyrics and pop riffs, and you can catch them at one of their shows below.

Prinze George – Freeze

Prinze George

Prinze George

Taking a year out to work on their creativity, tight-knit trio, Prinze George, are back with the brilliant ‘Freeze’.

Vocalist, Naomi Almquist, has taken a slight turn in the direction of Stevie Nicks on this one, but Kenny Grimm on production/instrumental, and Isabelle De Leon on drums, keep us reminded of the dazzling Prinze George sound that we love here at Indietronica.

It’s the first song taken from their upcoming album, ‘Illiterate Synth Pop’, recorded with Evan Bakke (Prince, Fraea, Soul Asylum).

Sounds like: Stevie Nicks, Birdy, Foxes, Kid Astray, MS MR, Indiana, X Priest X, Years & Years, Chvrches, The Naked and Famous, Pistol Shrimp, Little Boots

LANY – Kiss

LANY by Alessio Boni

LANY by Alessio Boni

Nashville-born and now Los Angeles-based, LANY are developing into a better and better band every time we hear them.

When discussing the meaning behind new track, ‘Kiss’, lead singer Paul Klein says. “This song is about liars. It’s about people who don’t have the balls to tell you the legitimate truth. They’ll water it down, beat around the bush, spin it whatever way they have to. They’re probably scared to tell you what really happened or how they really feel because they ‘love you.’ But they actually just love themselves.”

‘Kiss’ has been taken off their new EP, ‘Make Out’, to be released on 11 December via Polydor Records.

They are also opening for Elle Goulding during her UK tour in March. But remember, we saw them first!

Sounds like: Crozet, Pistol Shrimp, Brotherun, Goldroom, Scavenger Hunt, Still Corners, Paperwhite, Pawws, Sykes, Washed Out, New Navy, X Priest X, Roosevelt, Great Good Fine Ok, Lostboycrow, MOTHXR, X Ambassadors, Halsey, Tove Stryke, Twin Shadow

Hana – Clay

HANA is a LA-hailing newcomer to the Indietronica scene. Lauded by soon-to-be-tourmates Lana Del Rey and Grimes, the latter of which is good pals with Hana, frequently mentioning her online.

HANA’s debut single was produced by frequent Grimes-collaborator Blood Diamonds, and is a alluring, sweet pop-ballad, complete with subtle synths and addictive melodies.

Sounds like: Grimes, Austra, X Priest X, Pawws, Still Corners, Blood Diamond

LANY – Someone Else

LANY - Someone Else

LANY – Someone Else

We love how different each LANY track sounds. Every one unveils a new layer of dreampop that tastes sweeter and sweeter upon each listen.

Single ‘Someone Else’ does exactly that. It is an electronic love song that would make any notable boy band jealous.

They support Tove Styrke in May and Maudlin Strangers in June/July.

Sounds like: Crozet, Pistol Shrimp, Brotherun, Goldroom, Scavenger Hunt, Still Corners, Paperwhite, Pawws, Sykes, Washed Out, New Navy, X Priest X, Roosevelt, Great Good Fine Ok, Lostboycrow

Priest – Broken

Priest - Broken

Priest – Broken

It’s been a while since we wrote about some synth pop, but it’s spring time, so why not!

Florida-based synth pop duo Priest (formerly X priest X) have released brand new track ‘Broken’.

It’s modern pop that glides subtly between 80s lo-fi pop and sharply syncopated rhythms that fit like a glove for a John Hughes film soundtrack.

It is second single from their forthcoming debut album ‘Priest’, which is to be released on 5 May via Swedish label Emotion.

Sounds like: BLSHS, The Human League, Crozet, Chvrches, Zola Jesus, Sky Ferreira, Grimes, College

Prinze George – Upswing

Prinze George

Prinze George

Remember when we told you Years & Years were going to be huge? Well, this time around it’s Prinze George who we have our eager eyes on.

In the last 12 months, they have grown from strength to strength and now the trio returns with an new track called ‘Upswing’.

Despite running on a tropical beat and being full of synths, Naomi Almquist’s dark echoey vocals sing of disconsolation. It’s a seriously catchy number.

Prinze George’s five-track EP is set for release in March and they are set to play SXSW 2015.

Sounds like: Kid Astray, MS MR, Indiana, X Priest X, Years & Years, Chvrches, The Naked and Famous, Pistol Shrimp
