Ani Glass – Peirianwaith Perffaith

Ani Glass

It’s time for a lesson in Welsh music, courtesy of Cardiff-based electronic pop musician Ani Glass, who has already worked with The Pipettes and Genie Queen.

Her new single ‘Peirianwaith Perffaith’ (Perfect Machinery) is delicately heavy with looping synths and an undercurrent of programmed beats that reflect in a neon shimmer.

Speaking of ‘Peirianwaith Perffaith’, Glass says it’s about how the “search for identity in a moving city and society insists on a sense of stillness often found in the shadows of progress”.

The single is out on 26 October via Recordiau Neb.

Rachel K Collier – Rust

Rachel K Collier - Rust

Welsh solo artist and producer, Rachel K Collier returns with her addictive track ‘Rust’.

We are obsessed with the song’s beautiful, metallic riffs, and house-influenced percussive grooves, as well as the highly relatable lyrics that discuss how relationships can become stale and deteriorate unless you keep them polished and fresh, “left to rot, things wont changed…polish off, make it shine”.

Expect Rachel’s second EP in early Autumn and debut album early 2018.

XY&O – One More Night (Lemonade)

XY&O

Causing us as much of a crush as ‘Lights On‘, Welsh band, XY&O return with the sensual video for ‘One More Night (Lemonade)’.

Amidst a sensual haze, lead singer Alex serenades a tattoo’d lady with this summery pop number, exploring “the motives of those who seek out carnal pleasures and the expectations people have.”

Duck House – Closer

Duck House

Duck House

Duck House is the musical project of Cardiff-based Stefan Vincent.

Citing influences from 80’s bands such as Talking Heads, Duck House creates nostalgic disco beats from his…wait for it… car! It’s hard to believe an environment would produce such blissful electronica, but the escapist approach is definitely creating some ever-changing inspiration for Stefan.

‘Closer’ is the lead single from his new EP which will be released through MenoRecords later this year.

30th Oct – Manchester, Columns Festival
31st Oct – London, Mirrors Festival

Rive – Sleepless

Rive - Sleepless

Rive – Sleepless

Rive is an unsigned electro indie pop duo comprising of Ceri (electric guitar and vocals) and Natascha (keys, vocals and sample pad).

The girls met in London over a mutual love for songwriting and sangria, and instantly formed a sister-like bond. This bond has helped the girls create perfect harmonies in ‘Sleepless’, which also has a slight 80’s, Cyndi Lauper-vibe to it.

Rive gained the attention of the Roundhouse in 2014 through their 30/30 initiative, which pairs the best unsigned and emerging talent with established producers. Their debut single ‘Sleepless’ was co-produced by innovative electronic artist, Tim Exile, and the result has seen Rive invited to join Roundhouse’s exclusive Resident Artist roster.

They made the music video for ‘Sleepless’ with LA director Josh Harms, and it is released on 10 August, with the support of the Roundhouse and Dyne Road Recordings.

It is available for purchase on iTunes now.

XY&O – Lights On

XY&O

XY&O

It’s Sunday and hopefully the sun is shining where you are.

If not, it certainly will be after listening to ‘Lights On’ by XY&O; an ambient poppy track inspired by Daft Punk and Pharrell’s ‘Get Lucky’.

Based in Cardiff, Wales, ‘XY&O’ comprises of producer Skip Curtis on vocals and production, Tudor Davies on keys and programming, and Nick Kelly on guitar.

The trio was born when Skip and Tudor entered the studio aiming to recreate the “optimistic light of summer that can so often turn dark”.

‘Lights On’ is the second single from the bands first EP titled ‘Shimmer & Shade’ due out later this year.

Sounds like: Kid Astray, Sir Sly, Lost Boy Crow, Nonaphoenix
