“Have YOU ever been dumped? We here at courtship understand. Text us if you like the song and/or need a free therapy session from ya boys Eli and Micah 818-338-6877.”
Los Angeles duo courtship. is always here to help with their new single ‘Number 1’ and its sweet AF basslines, cascading piano keys and retro-inspired vocals.
The duo elaborates, “We wrote this song because we all know what it feels like to be number 2. Not good. The line ‘baby you’re fun, but you’ll never be number one’ sums it up perfectly.”

French Horn Rebellion – Rooftops Feat. Natalie Duffy
Brooklyn brothers Robert and David Perlick-Molinari, aka French Horn Rebellion, ask us to meet them on the ‘Rooftops’ in their new single, which also features the delicate vocals of Natalie Duffy.
The boys maybe harnessing down the electro funk on this one, but it doesn’t mean ‘Rooftops’ lacks energy, quite the opposite. Take a listen below.
Their label YouTooCanWoo will be expanding its ‘Night Out’ series of collaborative performances including dates in New York and London. More info here.

Melbourne-based folktronica artist BATTS returns with her beautiful new single ‘Somedays’.
Using space as a reference (specifically the NASA recording of Saturn’s rings), ‘Somedays’ showcases BATTS’ knack of creating psych-tinged pop that is extremely grounding, but also feels otherworldly at the same time.
Expect her mesmerising and melancholic debut EP ’62 Moons’, to be released through the newly announced THAA Records.
Sounds like: London Grammar, Ficci, GEMS, MS MR, Daughter, James Blake, Jon Hopkins, MØ, SOHN, Broods, M83
Quirky songstress Jinka shares the ‘Shock Mounted’.
The surrealist video, directed by Ossian Melin (Yung Lean, Little Dragon), features Jinka reading Swedish porn magazines and microwaving sushi. As you do.
Following on from the brilliant ‘Colors‘, Finnish trio Lake Jons release ‘Call Me’.
Once again ethereal vocals clash and blend with tinny drums. We can’t help but think severe isolation in the woods is the way forward – it really does produce inspirational music!
Expect their forthcoming self-titled debut album to come out on 19 January through AntiFragile Music.
Sounds like: Midlake, Band Of Horses, Paul Simon, Ásgeir, Bon Iver, Nick Mulvey
Wow, ‘You’ is some serious spine tingling stuff from Dream Estate, an exciting ambient pop outfit on the scene.
The band was originally founded by William Tse in 2015, but later was joined by Dan Hvorostovsky (bass, backing vocals), Dan Noble (lead guitar, backings vocals), and Joe Dawson (drums) in 2017. Since then, the band have been working alongside producer Sam Winfield (Fickle Friends, Pixel Fix, Amber Run, Motherhood).
Another great release on the 20XX label. Los Angeles duo, courtship. share their third single, ‘Sail Away’.
Despite what the title suggests, this is perhaps their most introspective track to date, with glistening moments that conjure up bittersweet images of watching your love sail away from you on the Pacific ocean.

Doombird is the musical project, founded by Kris Anaya and producer/multi-instrumentalist Joseph Davancens. Originally focusing on a more orchestral sound with their first album, released in 2010, Doombird went on to develop a more synth-laden vibe with their second album in 2012.
Now it’s 2017, and time for Doombird to merge both sounds on their album, ‘Past Lives’, with the addition of Mike Sparks, Aram and Arlene Deradoorian and Dusty Brown.
Expansive sounds and falsetto vocals dominate ‘The Salt’, which is out now, and taken from ‘Past Lives’. Listen below.
The Du Tonc disco boys have finally put together a playlist for us!
Du Tonc are still one of our favourites, which is handy as their new single, ‘Wonderland’ (which also features on the playlist), is one of their favourites too.
V – La Nouvelle Epoque
It’s pretty apparent we love the 80’s, can’t get enough of this gem. Modern 80’s vibes (if that makes sense).
Severed Heads – Dead Eyes Opened
If there is one track we’ve love to get the parts for and re work, it’s this.
Beyond The Wizards Sleeve – White Cow (Erol Allan Rework)
We’re big Wizard and Erol fans. This is stunning.
Charlie – Spacer Woman (Vocal)
More 80’s spaced out funkiness.
The Cure – A Forest
Think this tracks still get’s better overtime you listen to it.
Du Tonc – I’m On Fire (Bruce Springsteen Cover)
The only cover we’ve done and possibly our our favourite track.
Tears For Fears – Head Over Heals
Tears for Fears are a big inspiration to us, this track is genius (also featured in a rather awesome film).
Johnny Cash – Personal Jesus
Love the Depeche Mode version, but this is just filthy.
Du Tonc – Wonderland
Our favourite song we’ve written.
Midland – Final Credits
Effortless perfect dance floor record.
Sisterhood – Tunnels (Bicep Remix)
Still cane this, get’s better with each listen.

Ones to watch, courtship. (aka Eli Hirsch and Micah Gordon) have put together a bubbly playlist for us, as well as sharing their new track, ‘Love For Everyone’.
Speaking of the playlist, the Los Angeles-based duo have said,
“This is a collection of songs we’ve been listening to recently. You’ll notice a lot of mom music (aka. JackJohnson, SherylCrow). Extremely underrated. We have already booked DavidGray to play at both our weddings.”
‘Love For Everyone’ is the ultimate weekend anthem with on point finger snaps and disco-tinged synths. Listen below.

Frontman for indie dance band, Miami Horror, Aaron Shanahan, has made the decision to slow things down a bit for his new Sunday project, keeping to a “simple, but effective” mindset.
The video for ‘Only’ has been directed by Juan Felipe Zuleta and features Aaron singing amongst sped up and slowed down clips of the busy streets and subways in New York. The slowed down sections in the chorus instantly send us into a euphoric state of bliss, despite the hectic setting. We guess that’s what love does to you.
The Du Tonc boys are back, but with more of a slowed down, dark electronic release than their usual, more upbeat offerings.
The “anti-pop” track, called ‘Slow Down’, features additional backing vocals from Jenny McCullagh of I Know Leopard.
Despite the slight change in direction, Du Tonc are exactly where they want to be, saying;
“We didn’t grow up making music together, we never had that luxury. This is the first song we’ve made where we both feel like everything in it is exactly what we want it to be, this feels like the beginning and it feels amazing.”
“When you gonna slow down?”. It’s a question we should all be asking ourselves.
