Girl Friend – Waste My Time

Girl Friend - Waste My Time

Girl Friend – Waste My Time

The Manchester four piece, Girl Friend, are back with a new release, ‘Waste My Time’.

The track has been produced with dance producer LVTHER (of the Monstercat label), which may explain the dominant disco tones, however despite the appearance of an upbeat track, ‘Waste My Time’ has selfish connotations, “written from the perspective of a frustrated lover, constantly kept at arms length by the person they desire the most. Despite the emotional neglect, they still find themselves ‘dreaming up schemes’ to inspire change.”

Sounds like: Kid Astray, Pistol Shrimp, Swiss Lips, Passion Pit, Bastille, Kygo

Le Youth – Feel Your Love (Feat. Javeon) (RAC remix)

Le Youth - Feel Your Love Feat. Javeon (RAC remix)

Le Youth – Feel Your Love Feat. Javeon (RAC remix)

Le Youth is back, this time with Javeon in tow and complete with a remix courtesy of RAC.

Javeon’s voice remains intact on ‘Feel Your Love’, but RAC breathes some summertime vibes into what is already a sterdy 90’s inspired R&B based track by the L.A. producer.

We were initially concerned that Le Youth may have pigeoned himself into a genre that will soon pass in popularity, but having watched him play last week we are certain that the talented producer is here to stay.

Pre order the original on iTunes.

Sounds like: Javeon, RAC, Disclosure, Lane 8, Ben Pearce, Ben Khan, Duke Dumont, Foxes

Musique Le Pop (MLP) is Norweigen producers and songwriters Elisabeth, Christoffer and Jon.

‘Turn To Sand’ is a racey, 80’s inspired track that was initially released last year, but is now featured on MLP’s debut EP,’l’été’.

The EP is full of tropical tones as MLP flirts shamelessly with the more luxurious sides of disco, through their own Casio-infused lo-fi disco filter.

‘l’été’ was out on 5 June via Cafe Superstar recordings and can be purchased on iTunes.

Sounds like: Husky Rescue, Goldroom, Chela, I BREAK HORSES, Lana Del Rey, Sykes, Annie

PHANTOGRAM

Phantogram

Indietronica wrote about ‘Fall in Love’ by duo Phantogram back in December.

‘Fall in Love’ is a powerful, heavy, track, with bass-driven pulsating sounds, and crunching synths reminiscent of Sleigh Bells. The drums are at times heading down a hip-hop route, all while Sarah Barthel’s vocals drive the melody, pulling the layered sounds together in this really cool track.

BALLET SCHOOL

Berlin-based Ballet School is Irish Rosie Blair on vocals/guitar, Japanese-Brazilian Michel Collet on lead guitar and Louis McGuire on drums.

Blair and Collet met two years ago in Berlin when Blair heard Collet playing his guitar in the U-bahn. Sharing their love of the Cocteau-Twins, she immediately asked him to form a band. In 2012 they began collaborating with McGuire.

With a mélange of 80’s pop and R’N’B at the forefront of the band’s agenda, their tracks provide a meditative driving beat of pop at it’s best and showcases both Irish and Japanese influences.

Broods – Bridges (ASTR Remix)

Broods - Bridges

Broods – Bridges

We wouldn’t normally post about a remix of an original track, but the remix of Broods‘s 2013 ‘Bridges’ by NYC based ASTR is insanely good.

Think of the track as some sort of multi-national tropical forcefield hitting your ears at full speed. The only option is to turn the volume up to full.

If you haven’t heard of Broods or ASTR, this remix perfectly showcases both their talents and we simply can’t get enough of it!

Sounds like: IYES, Vancouver Sleep Clinic, The Naked and Famous, Lorde, Frou Frou, Imogen Heap, Shura, I BREAK HORSES, BANKS, Disclosure, Lights, Ellie Goulding, Ulla Nova
