FRAME – Love Wasted

FRAME

FRAME

Using music as her drive and passion, drummer-turned-producer, FRAME (aka Caitlin Frame) shares ‘Love Wasted’; the first single from her nine-track album.

FRAME explains, “When I wrote this song I felt secure and balanced with the love I had, but being in an open relationship created space to feel an obsessive and all-encompassing lust at the same time. When those feelings became entangled and borderless it was easy to act out of impulse.”

The album was engineered and produced entirely by Caitlin, while the instrumentation was collaboratively recorded by members of her live band. Mixer Andy Baldwin (Hearts, St. Lucia) added the finishing touches.

The Jezabels – Look of Love

The Jezabels

The Jezabels

Adoring dark clothing, you’d be fooled into thinking The Jezabels are an impure and gloomy band. They are not.

The Australian fourpiece may have taken more of an electronic approach with their second album, ‘The Brink’, but they still class themselves as ‘intensindie’.

‘Look of the Love’ is a heartfelt and emotional track, taken from the ‘Uptown Girl”s perspective. The track was recorded in London with producer Dan Grech-Marguerat.

Indietronica watched them perform last night and they were far from the cries of gothic urbania. With bright dressing room styled lights and a pink and blue lazered backdrop, it was as if the band had emerged straight from the boot of from Ryan Gosling’s car in Drive and landed on stage.

The Jacob Harper-directed video for ‘The Look of Love’ can be watched below:

‘The Brink’ is out now on iTunes.

Sounds like: The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Fenech-Soler, The Pretenders, The Naked and Famous

Selebrities – Temporary Touch

Selebrities

Selebrities

With their first US West Coast tour beginning on 15 August 2013, Selebrities are a former Florida, now Brooklyn-based band. Maria Usbeck (vocals), Jer Robert Paulin (guitar, bass) and Max Peterson (keyboards) released their debut album ‘Delusions’ on 10 July 2012.

They have a lot of competition with the 80s new wave comeback in full swing, but no other band seems to sound as original as Selebrities.

Their second album ‘Lovely Things’ throws us even more post-punk 80s flashbacks.

The second upbeat, and slightly grungy track from the album is ‘Temporary Touch‘. The video featured below films Maria Usbeck singing to us in various ways, including with a lion. We have no idea why the lion is in the video, but she is looking incredibly like Chrissie Hynde from The Pretenders, which isn’t a bad thing.

The video was directed by Holland Brown.

Fellow Cascine labelmates, Keep Shelly in Athens have also remixed ‘Temporary Touch’ and is it available for free download.
