Highasakite

Highasakite

These guys must be as high as kites at the moment, following some fantastic reviews of recent releases, ‘Golden Ticket’ and ‘Someone Who’ll Get It’.

Giving us a snippet of their pre-show rituals, Highasakite have shared with us their pre-show playlist.

Enjoy!

The Knife – ‘Silent Shout’

A masterpiece of a song, love the vintage drum-machine and synths, and the vocal effect is dope!

Purity Ring – ‘Obedear’

Like getting sucked down into a dark hole where you get a glimpse of light here and there. Love this band!

FKA Twigs – ‘Water Me’

Beautiful vocal sampling, and the video is amazing too!

Grimes – ‘Dream Fortress’

Violin from another world! So moody and beautiful.

Like The Movie – ‘Cruel Thing’

My little electronic side project. Started working with this when I produced all of the electronic drums for the new

Highasakite album.

Purity Ring – ‘Amenamy (Jon Hopkins Remix)’

Love Jon Hopkins, and Purity Ring… so, this is just perfect!

Highasakite- ‘Golden Ticket’

Our new single, felt like it could fit on this playlist!

Emilie Nicolas – ‘Pstereo’

One of the best voices from Norway, and this song must be one of the best pop songs from Norway.

CAPPA – I’m Good

CAPPA

CAPPA

Making her own way in the music business, CAPPA returns with her latest pop number, ‘I’m Good’.

CAPPA says the track is an “expression most of us use a lot without ever really thinking about it. For me, this song is about declaring that you can be so much happier alone than hanging on some random person’s arm. It feels anthemic and empowering to me and I hope it feels the same to listeners!”

Sounds like: Lorde, Lana Del Rey, HOLYCHILD, Purity Ring, Washed Out, Say Lou Lou, The Knife, M83, KLOE, Druzy, Taylor Swift, The Knife

CAPPA – Goddess

CAPPA

CAPPA

Still Killin’ It, CAPPA is back with dark synth banger, ‘Goddess’.

We categorise CAPPA as an undiscovered Taylor Swift. Her music style walks a tightrope between cool nonchalance and sizzling summer pop, and pulls out all the stops to make sure it stays rattling around your head for hours after the final beat.

Amateur Best – They Know

Amateur Best

Amateur Best

Amateur Best is the alias of Birmingham-based “personal pop” musician, songwriter, and producer Joe Flory.

His new video for ‘They Know’ has been directed by Effie Pappa and is “inspired by the warmth and paranoia of John Carpenter’s best horror movies” and builds up to the foreboding chorus refrain: “It’s like they know what’s coming next, it’s like there’s not point running. It’s like we’re hanging on the edge of the end, it’s like we never had a chance to run.”

The track has been taken from his long awaited second album ‘The Gleaners’, which will be released on 2 October, as well as the single, via Brille Records (The Knife, Gwilym Gold, John Wizards).

Sounds like: Foals, Future Islands, Clean Bandit

Kate Boy – Midnight Sun

Kate Boy - Midnight Sun

Kate Boy returns with new track, ‘Midnight Sun’ which will be featured on their debut album ‘ONE’, set for release this November.

‘Midnight Sun’ was written and recorded by Kate Boy in Stockholm last December and draws inspiration from the endless days of sunlight during Swedish summers, often described as a magical experience.

Kate Boy enlisted esteemed Swedish producer Christoffer Berg (Depeche Mode, Fever Ray, I Break Horses) to assist on the production of the track, together the collaboration created brooding synth lead verses that erupt into an explosive, anthemic chorus.

It is out on 10 August via [FICTION RECORDS], but can be purchased now on iTunes.

Sounds like: Niki & The Dove, Death Rattle, I BREAK HORSES, MSMR, Soft as Snow, The Knife, Chvrches, Grimes, Color War, Graingerboy, Mr Little Jeans, Kate Bush
