Foals release new banger, ‘2001’. Bringing back the naughties inspired hi hats and Chic-worthy disco funk laden riffs, it’s safe to say that summer 2022 has arrived.

The Esteban-directed video depicts summer time antics, hot cruises, ice cream licking delights and beach chats. Watch below.

The Born Love – Tempest

The Born Love

The Born Love

Debuting their first single, The Born Love share ‘Tempest’.

Comparing themselves to The Temper Trap and Kings of Leon may seem like a slightly cavalier approach, but what’s the point if you don’t aim high? And in this case, the resemblance is just.

‘Tempest’ has the flavourings of an electronic track, but with the additional rocky drums, and an all indie inspiring chorus.

The track was written by Kevin and Aron (BANKS, Halsey) of the band, and has been mastered by Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys) in Los Angeles.

Sounds like: The Temper Trap, Kings of Leon, Foreign Air, Portugal. The Man

Foals – What Went Down

Foals - What Went Down

Foals – What Went Down

Foals are back, after teaming up with producer James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Florence + The Machine, Jessie Ware, Mumford & Sons) to release their fourth album, ‘What Went Down’.

The Oxford five-piece retreated to the South of France to record in a rural 19th-century mill. The result is a primal, intense, sometimes harrowing album of extremes.

Lyrically, Philippakis deals with themes around cultural identity, generational anxiety, cynicism, pessimism and heartbreak; “I wanted to tap into my inner madman and feel like I was channeling some sort of fevered creature”.

Watch the video for the lead single below:

The album will be released on 28 August.

Sounds like: The Black Keys, Muse, The Maccabees, The Griswolds, Coasts

Lana Del Rey – West Coast

Lanadelray

Lana Del Rey is back, and her new track ‘West Coast’ is really quite something. Dark in nature, with Lana’s signature soft and breathy vocals, the track is sadly sweet, with a touch of soul and blues and a mix of tempos. Produced by Dan Auberach from The Black Keys, ‘West Coast’ was premiered during Lana Del Rey’s Coachella performance.

Her sophomore album, ‘Ultraviolence’ is soon to be released, and lead track ‘West Coast’ is a very promising indication it’s going to be more mature, refined, and sophisticated; dripping in the emotional nostalgia she does so well…

The video accompanying ‘West Coast’ is just a loop of a clip of Lana on a beach, dancing with a lover, both clad in leather jackets, carefree and lost in the moment, over and over again.

Sounds like; Sky Ferreira, Lorde, Bang Bang Bang, Marina & the Diamonds, Banks, Nancy Sinatra
