MISSIO – Twisted

MISSIO

MISSIO

Meet MISSIO.

Formed by Matthew Brue & David Butler, the duo are feeling a little ‘Twisted’ today, as they release their next single.

Operatic vocals, with dark electronic undertones, Brue from MISSIO opens up to us about the truth behind the track;

“The song is a precursor to the story of my life involving addiction to drugs and alcohol. ‘Twisted’ represents the personal realization that I view myself differently than the rest of the world views me. It describes the unintentional and intentional comments my family made growing up about the type of person they thought I should be. This ultimately leads to the pre-chorus where I confront these comments with the truth of my own reality. I’m uncontrollable, emotional, chaotically proportional, I’m visceral, reloadable, I’m crazy.”

Co-produced with Dwight A. Baker, ‘Twisted’ is out tomorrow via Taste And Tone, a really cool label who release one new track a month.

It’s a coffee in the morning or last call kind of jam.

The 1975 – The Sound

Something unique and beautiful about this song. it’s enchanting to me

Exclusive: Guns Playlist

Guns

Guns

Guns is 24 year old, Norwegian Gunhild Jarwson Tekle, who is now based in Denmark.

She’s lovingly prepared a chilled pop playlist for us.

See the track list below:

1) Nico – These days

Reminds me of a sort of summery boredom.

2) Texas – Inner Smile

Oh I have been dancing so much to this song, I’m in love with it. I did a terrible version of it in a karaoke bar in Berlin over Christmas.

3) Kylie Minogue – Slow

For some reason this song reminds me of summer. Maybe because of the music video with Kylie by the pool, surrounded by a bunch of men.

4) Sean Nicolas Savage – Promises

I just discovered this artist playing a small concert in ideal bar in Copenhagen, he was so crazy good and charismatic on stage!

5) Blood Orange – Chamakay

I think i just love music that sounds like a jungle.

6) Enya – Boadicea

Think it’s so great how there’s just her vocals and keys, and its so mysterious sounding too. And that there are no lyrics at all.

7) David Lynch – The Line It Curves

Makes me wanna get a drivers license so i can drive around listening to this at night. That goes for the whole album by the way.

8) Michael Jackson – Stranger in Moscow

It’s Michael walking around in bad weather.

9) Burial – Hiders

I’ve just been listening a lot to this this winter.

10) Tame Impala – Yes I’m Changing

I find this track so beautiful, and weirdly motivating. (Listened a lot to it while walking to school in the morning).

Like Guns’s vibe? Listen to ‘I Know Exactly How It Feels’ below.

It was released on 22nd January via Tigerspring / +1 Records.

Stamps – Interview & Two Kids

STAMPS - Two Kids

STAMPS – Two Kids

STAMPS is indie-pop-rock duo who have started making and self producing their own tracks.

We had a little chat with them about how they got into music:

How and why did you start making music?

(Ren) I started singing in musical theater productions and operas at five years old, so music has always been a huge passion of mine. I wrote my first song when I was eight years old, sitting on a staircase with my Lisa Frank notebook about my first “boyfriend” who couldn’t decide if he wanted to date me or my best friend, (Second grade is a DOOZY) and I haven’t stopped writing since. Adam was in a number of bands, making music since he was in middle school, and together, we have been writing songs and producing music for the past four and a half years.

Ren, you moved from your home town of Cypress in Texas to Los Angeles when you were just 17. Do you think that has shaped the music you write today?

Definitely! When I left home, I was only a junior in high school. I somehow convinced my parents that moving to L.A. and finishing my senior year online while touring the country in a van we named STAMPS the Van Morrison was a good idea, and was thrown into a world that I’d always wanted to be a part of. It’s shaped my writing, my music, and who I am as a person. Having to be independent and self-sufficient as a teenager is never easy, but it made me work harder than I ever had to before.

Describe your sound in three words.

Pop, Funky, Melodic

Where do you cite your musical influences from?

Our musical taste varies from The Beatles, The Strokes, No Doubt, The Cardigans, Phoenix, Frank Sinatra, anything from the Motown era…to pretty much anything!

How do you think your music will be making a stamp on the indietronica world?

We have been making music for years now, and have gone through a lot of experimenting with what we want our sound to be, and with these new songs, I think we finally found out exactly where we stand in the music world. With producing our own records, we are able to find that blend of all of our unique musical influences and really make the songs our own…a fine line of blending real instruments with electronic elements.

We love new music at Indietronica. What new music are you listening to?

This isn’t new, but it’s our favourite record of all-time…If you haven’t listened to ‘RAM’ by Paul and Linda McCartney, get ready for a life changing experience.

BLSHS – Change

BLSHS

BLSHS

Now for some music from Houston, Texas.

BLSHS (pronounced ‘Blushes’) are a synth pop trio comprising of the beautiful Michelle Miears, Chris Gore and Rick Carruth.

Their latest track on Soundcloud is ‘Change’ and is one of the first songs they wrote together as a group. BLSHS have been working on this track since February 2013 and it shows.

Miears’s towering celtic-esq vocals are a far cry from the skyscrapers of Houston as she sings about a change for the better. We love the 80s vibe on this track, and who ever thought panpipes could be so cool?

‘Change’ has been included on the album, ‘RISING TIDΞS vol. 1‘. Every artist on the album had under 500 followers when svnsetwaves asked them to participate and there are some killer tracks on there.

‘Abstract Desires’ will be BLSHS’s first EP and is due out shortly on Synth Records. The first track taken from the EP is ‘Blushes’, and it will be included in the upcoming release of Violent Success’s ‘RETRO FUTURE’ compilation.

Sounds like: Ellie Goulding, La Roux, CHVRCHES, London Grammar
