Handsome Ghost – Graduate

Handsome Ghost

Handsome Ghost

Meet Handsome Ghost.

Originally a folk singer, Handsome Ghost (aka Tim Noyes) has since graduated himself to become an electronic producer.

With Handsome Ghost, the only rule is no electric guitar. Other than that, anything goes;

“The electronic elements were so intriguing to me…Certain things are off limits in other genres. I love Handsome Ghost because we’ll try anything.”

Mackintosh Braun – Interview and We Ran Faster Then

Mackintosh Braun

Mackintosh Braun

Portland dreamy electro-duo, Mackintosh Braun releases ‘We Ran Faster Then’; a stunning electro track with dreamy vocals. The perfect end to a hectic bank holiday weekend.

We caught up with Ben…

How and why did you start making music?

We both started at a young age. Ian was a member of his family band growing up and was interested in song writing and production very early on, writing and producing his own music.

I (Ben) grew up around music my whole life. My dad played drums for Hall & Oates for over 20 years which spurred my interest in musicianship and songwriting. I’ve been producing and writing music since I got my first drum machine at 11.

We both love what writing brings out of us, and are very connected creatively on that front.

Describe your sound in three words.

Where do you cite your musical influences from?

We both grew up on Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Bowie. Some more current and constant inspirations include Holy Ghost!, Midnight Juggernauts and Phantogram.

We love new music at Indietronica. What new music are you listening to?

Some current favs are Tame Impala, Mew and Beach House. The music scene is vast and inspiring, so much to listen to these days.

What is next for you? Are you planning a tour?

Yes we are planning a tour and are exciting to get our new album Arcadia out to the world and play new songs for everyone. It’s going to a fun ride.

Listen below to ‘We Ran Faster Then’:

Sounds like: The Colourist, Cassettes Won’t Listen, Your Vegas, Holy Ghost!, Mew, Phantogram, Hey Champ, Washed Out, Summer Heart, M83

‘Gold Dust’ is their newest track. Finished with soaring vocals and twinkling synths, this is indie pop at its best.

Papertwin – Alkaline

PapertwinPhoto by Mark Goethals

Brooklyn trio Papertwin have unveiled the video for their splendid track, ‘Alkaline’. Directed by Clare Wadsworth, and inspired by performance artist, Issa Israel, the video captures Issa’s transformation into his alter ego. The track is released prior to their first studio collaboration, ‘Vox Humana’, out June 17.

‘Alkaline’ recalls original electronic music production, reminding us of the analogue-driven production that soundtracked classic films of the 80s, such as Tangerine Dream, with a refreshing and modern take on their vocals and soaring melody.

Kaleida is a new electronic female duo from London, consisting of vocalist Christina Wood and piano/producer Cicely Goulder. These two ladies create sexy music production, with flowing hair, hot outfits and contorting, sensual dance moves in their video for first single ‘Think’.

Their second release is ‘Tropea’ – another very cool, synth heavy, bass-driven indietronica masterpiece, with Christina’s soft and alluring vocals overlaying Cicely’s punchy synth bass line.

Kaleida are bubbling below the surface. Expect to see and hear more from these two over the next few months.  Both ‘Think’ and ‘Tropea’ are available as free downloads, from Soundcloud.
