Lemonade Baby releases his new single, ‘i blocked ur account’.
Discussing toxic relationships and how easy (or sometimes hard) to cut someone out with a click of a button, the sugary sweet distorted pop track is young and playful, taking production inspiration from Charlie Puth’s Tiktok and Julian Casablancas’ solo album, ‘Phrazes For The Young’.

Australian newcomer Lemonade Baby shares new single, ‘You’re Bad For Me’.
Apart from the ace name, Lemonade Baby has an intriguing sound. Moving on from his previous two indie-dance singles, the new one is full of luscious house-inspired loops encased in an infectious indie sad boy vibe.
Speaking about the track, he says;
“‘You’re Bad For Me’ started with the piano chords and then I slapped in some drums. I had a vibe down in about 15 mins and by the end of the day I had a backing track done as well.
The lyrics were written maybe 3 months later when I had something I wanted to write about. At the time I had some friends go through big breakups and those inspired the concept for the song. It’s kinda about being open with yourself about how someone is bad for you, much like how some would say that sugar is bad for you.”

FNP by Jonathan Wilcox
British electronic artist, FNP (“Fake Name Preferably”), likes his dance music fun and nostalgic. His new single, ‘Weeks Of Rain’ is perfect, disco-infused house with lashings of hazy synthwave and retro drums.

Love a chugging bassline…Actually heard this first on a Mercedes advert and spent a long long time trying to find out what it was! Beauty…
Baynk – Settle
Really lush mix of organic and electronic elements. Sinead Harnett’s vocal just makes it pop as well.
Shura – 2shy
Massive fan of pretty much everything shura does but this is a favourite for me.. Proper summer vibes on this.
SG Lewis – Chemicals
This one is just summer in a bowl – The lyrics are quite clearly about getting off your bonce as well which is bonus points for me.
Breakbot – Be Mine Tonight
Pretty close to a perfect Nu-Disco track this. Can’t fault it in any way. The little synth melodies are so, so lovely.
Lou Hayter – Cherry on Top
Epic use of a classic sample. Really nice work on this, pure beach vibes and her vocal works perfectly on it.
Charlotte Gainsbourg – Sylvia Says
Charlotte Gainsbourg might just about be the coolest most chic person on Earth…Considering she does a lot of acting and other muse stuff, she ain’t bad at music either. Probably takes from her dad on that.
Confidence Man – Out The Window
Could have chosen any confidence man track to be honest but this one is a bit special. Proper screamadelica, uplifting 90’s vibes on show here.
Blood Orange – EVP
For me, the best of many great Dev Hynes productions – Those chords are just sublime, much prefer this album to the newer stuff, so much more funk.
Frances – Borrowed Time
Simple yet effective – The production here is really lush but there’s really not much to it. Love the chord sound contrasting the sharp vocal.
Chromatics – Cherry
An absolute monster of a tune this. Chromatics are absolutely stellar at what they do and for me, this is their best work. That guitar melody is just..
IRAH – Into Dimensions
Really powerful new artist from the Eastern Bloc – Thick, warm analogue synths are the order of the day on this one.

Australian producer Laurel Laxxes shares ‘Somewhere New’ featuring the vocals of UK artist Gavin Beach.
Inspired by the lush visual landscape surrounding Acapela Studios in Cardiff, ‘Somewhere New’ has glorious moments of off-kilter keys and vocal transformations.
Speaking about the track, Laurel Laxxes explains,
“I was living such an incredible life at this point. Being enamoured with the new landscapes I was finding myself in around Europe whilst being afforded the opportunity to collaborate with international artists left me feeling so inspired and positive.”

nimino is the beautifully crafted project of tech college graduate, Milo Evans.

Canadian dance producer Pat Lok has teamed up with pop artist Kate Stewart on his new single called ‘Know Me’, ahead of his second studio EP campaign soon, out on Kitsuné.
To celebrate the release, we asked Pat Lok to put together a playlist for us.
Pat Lok – Know Me ft Kate Stewart
My new song “Know Me” is all about that moment when you first meet someone and there’s chemistry but you’re still trying to play it a little cool, not move too fast. Musically it’s inspired by 80s boogie, an incredible era for music – which is the theme of this playlist.
D-Train – You’re The One For Me
That synth riiff is so SO recognizable, one of the greatest little hooks ever. D-Train has such an emotional tone to his voice. No wonder it’s one of the most sampled records of all time.
Janet Jackson – When I Think Of You
You can’t have 80s without including Janet, her productions with Jam & Lewis still sound pristine today. It’s tough to write rnb classics in a major key but they did it so well here with that simple repeating bassline.
The SOS Band – High Hopes
SOS Band has so many great songs but this is more on the chill and disco side of things, with the live bass holding it down. And then that hook! So groovy I just never want it to end.
Cherelle – I Didn’t Mean To Turn You On
When people say 80s boogie, this song is what they mean. A simple unforgettable vocal, huge funky synth stabs, a strutting bassline bouncing between the kick and snare. Untouchable.
Imagination – Just An Illusion
One of the most prolific yet oft forgotten acts of the 80s era, Imagination lived up to their name with terrific songwriting wrapped in sensual mystique and exotic outfits. Their album covers are among my all time favorites, you’ll want to check out their videos.
Cheryl Lynn – Got To Be Real
Not many songs are recognizable from the very first note. Soundtracking everything from the first NYC vogue contests to your aunt’s wedding. Again a bit more disco with all the horn instrumentation and less synths but with that kick – snare groove I’m sneaking this one in.
Janet Jackson – The Pleasure Principle
Yup doubling down on Janet. Written by The Time’s Monte Moir, this one perfectly encompasses the era, that balance between live instrumentation and synths (which were finally becoming mainstream in pop music). Janet’s vocals wander all over the place, which is probably why there are versions near 10 min long but I love every minute of it.
The BB&Q Band – Dreamer
Funky, dreamy, spacey. Those sparkly synth areggios swirling around the sequenced drum machine. One of the unsung classics!
Change – Searching
Featuring a guy named Luther Vandross before he got all famous. This one sets the standard for triplet-time (6/8) dance music.

Shy Luv is the project of Manchester based Karma Kid and Armeria.
The video for their new single, ‘Lungs’ is directed by HUMANS and produced by CANADA. Shot in a Mars-like red clay quarry, it illustrates the songs overriding theme of wanting to re-tract an open offer of love to your object of desire who’s feelings aren’t openly reciprocated, and works perfectly with the track’s spacey production depicting such nostalgic moments.

Was ‘Hold My Hand’ the best song of 2015? Quite possibly, but regardless, it was definitely the song that put Jess Glynne on the global map, with a number of remixes secured with some key contenders in the dance industry.

Shy Luv
Shy Luv is the project of Manchester based Karma Kid and Armeria. They’ve teamed up with JONES for ‘Shock Horror’.
It’s a beautiful neon number with funky falsettos and a trippy video to match.
The CGI-chopped video, directed by London-based French duo Bif, sees the band skydiving amongst mini-clones and giant women. Glorious!

Alyss – T S I E R
Alyss is an exciting new project from a classically trained singer/songwriter/producer.
Her latest single, ‘T S I E R’ is short for This Shit Isn’t Even Real, and is inspired from shamanic teachings.
Of the track, Alyss says “I’d been studying shaman teachings around that time and there was one principle that I couldn’t get out my head: dreams are real and reality is a dream. Both are equally as real as they are hallucination. The more I dissected the concept, the more it tripped me out. In a good way. It’s mad how such simple words have completely changed how I view existence. I guess making T S I E R was like an audible screenshot of that perspective shift”.
‘T S I E R’ is taken from her forthcoming ‘Motherland’ EP, out on PMR.
