Caswell – Animal

Caswell

Caswell

Meet Caswell, London’s latest soul sensation, who attended the BRIT School during her teen years, no less.

Now, at just 22, Caswell has already developed her own distinct sound; rich, down-tempo, electronic soul and pop, with a tangible jazz influence; and a knack for sophisticated songwriting.

“I draw from my own personal experiences,” says Caswell. “I find that’s when I really need to write. It’s very much a form of catharsis for me and I like having created something positive like a song out of something negative that has happened in my life. Sometimes it helps me find closure and listening back to songs is like seeing the little milestones of my life.”

As the title of her new track suggests, ‘Animal’ is a song of empowerment, immediately leading us to compare her to the likes of Jorja Smith and JONES.

Disclosure: I am Caswell’s publicist at the time of writing.

Sounds like: Charlotte Cardin, Jorja Smith, JONES, Sasha Keable, Ray BLK

Bedlam – Predator

Bedlam Project

Bedlam Project

South West London-based Bedlam is a producer and songwriter, who collaborates with different vocalists, songwriters and producers, merging UK Bass with modern R&B around tightly constructed songs.

Driven by a breathless production that features rising analogue synth swells, crashing 808s and fragments of trap percussion, ‘Predator’ is a brooding love song with a stalking lead vocal.

Bedlam explained “…we wanted to write a track about a jilted lover seeking revenge. To capture the threat and tension in the lyric, we explored using hooks in an unconventional song structure.”

‘Predator’ is the third song from the project’s self-titled EP. ‘Predator’ is out now.

The song is about love, possession and jealousy.

Olivia has worked with emerging UK producer Lipso, to produce overall quite a minimalist track which is further enhanced by her weightless vocals, all of which have been added to some snappy and gothic percussion.

It is the second release from EP, ‘Wanderlands’.

Blooms – Love

Blooms

Blooms

Some serious talent. Blooms is Louise Cunnane.

The Hackney based, Irish born artist began writing music as a child, but crippling stage fright meant putting dreams on hold while finding another path. Her initial tracks were born out of heartache as a relationship with her then boyfriend came to an end. Moving out of their home in Dublin and back to her family home in Mayo, Cunnane used her feelings of loss and despair to create her debut EP, ‘If’, a collection of tracks which is described as “the story of a relationship from beginning to end”.

‘Love’ is the second track taken from her second EP, ‘Still’. Produced by PNUT (Amy Winehouse, Holychild).

Speaking on the track, Cunnane states:

” Love is a reflection on my first EP; remembering all of the great parts – which is so easily done after the breakdown of anything – but then strongly reminding myself that I have come too far to come back. I have been locked in this weird little personal battle and I refuse to be defined by it. ”

Also developing her own label, Skin On Skin Records, we can’t wait to hear more!

Sounds like: Banks, Evvy, London Grammar, Broods, Dominique, Ellie Goulding, July Child, Sasha Keable
