Graingerboy – Silent Universe EP & Interview

Graingerboy-1

Electronic-music veteran Simon Grainger aka Graingerboy is from Leeds, UK, and has recently unveiled 7-track EP ‘Silent Universe’ out now on PopCrisis and is available for purchase here.

Having worked with Kitsune’s DJ Jerry Bouthier, Ian Catt (Saint Etienne), Simon Phipps and Jagz Kooner (Primal Scream/Sabres Of Paradise), Graingerboy is certainly getting a lot of attention and is one to watch over the next few months.

The EP is a product of a challenging couple of years in Grainger’s personal life. As a whole, it is a varied, melodic masterpiece, and there are clear 90s sampling influences within, yet the use of overdriven synths and straight up drum loops gives an additional 80s feel, ranging from disco to Balearic.

Graingerboy was kind enough to give Indietronica an interview, the answers from which you can read below.

Keep Shelly In Athens – Recollection

Keep Shelly in Athens

Grecian duo Keep Shelly in Athens and Cascine put forward ‘Recollection’, which was released on 16th July 2013. It is the first mainstream single from the band’s debut album, ‘At Home’, set for release on 17th September 2013.

Keep Shelly in Athens is producer RΠЯ, who constructs the music along a framework of auroral, driving breaks, and Sarah P. who twines the material with provocative, dream-inducing vocals.

‘Recollection’ feels less adulterated than ‘Madmen Love’, but still gives you the exhilarating burst of awakening whilst sinking deeper into a vast and calm underwater world of beauty and transience.

July is going to be a good month for the duo, but September is going to be even better.

Ralph Myerz feat Annie – Take A Look At The World

Annie

Annie

Norwegian electropop princess Annie has teamed up with Norwegian electronica producer Ralph Myerz for a pop tune that will get stuck in your head for days. Co-produced by Royksopp, the video for ‘Take a Look at the World’ (directed by Øystein Fyxe) follows Annie being driven through the city taking a look at the infinite world around her.

‘Take a Look at the World’ starts with reflective sounding synths which lead into a clubbier beat as Annie is driven further into the city. We love the harmony between the song’s balearic melody and Annie’s light Scandinavian tones.

A bit more on the pop side than our usual posts, but still a great tune.

The single appears on Ralph Myerz’s new album, ‘Supersonic Pulse’ which was released on 3 June 2013 on Disco Pinata Records. Let’s just hope Annie is setting us up for an album release of her own in the not too distant future…

Sounds Like: Röyksopp, Robyn, Saint-Etienne, Kylie
