Vaults – Midnight River

Vaults

Vaults

Vaults, a trio from London, release the optimistic ‘Midnight River’ following their run of supports for Jack Garratt.

The video, which appears to have a underlying theme of freedom and empowerment, was filmed in an abandoned school, with awesome choreography to illustrate one hell of a trippy journey.

Paris Carney – Send A Prayer

Paris Carney

Paris Carney

Los Angeles-based Paris Carney is sending a prayer out to all of those suffering.

The track was written following her mother’s breast cancer diagnosis in early last year, as well Carney’s consideration of how fragile the state of the world currently is.

As with all of Carney’s music, ‘Send A Prayer’ conveys a notable passion through her use of heartfelt lyrics and vocal tone that continues to invite us to join Carney amongst her closest thoughts and feelings.

Proceeds from the single sale will be donated to the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. Purchase on iTunes here.

Sounds like: Fiona Apple, Indiana, Banks, Say Lou Lou, Mausi, REMMI, Evvy

Chelsea Effect – Good Enough

Chelsea Effect

Chelsea Effect

Chelsea Effect is a new band project founded by Canadian born artist, Emerald Isabella. The project is named after the effect the legendary Hotel Chelsea in New York City had on pop culture in the 1960’s.

The vocals on her debut single, ‘Good Enough’ reminds us of an early Ellie Goulding, but with a modern twist thanks to the wobbling electronic beats.

The track was co-written and produced by Bram Inscore (Beck, Troye Sivan, Twin Shadow) and mixed by Andrew Maury (RAC, Lewis Del Mar).

Sounds like: Monogem, Evvy, Ellie Goulding, REMMI, SP¡ON

Dua Lipa – Be The One

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa is a 19 year old singer/songwriter from London. She makes husky discotronica.

Dua grew up surrounded by music and cites an eclectic mix of inspiration spanning generations from Tupac to Action Bronson, Bob Dylan and David Bowie, to Alt-J.

Following on from ‘New Love’, which was produced by Emile Haynie (Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs), and Andrew Wyatt (Miike Snow), is ‘Be The One’. The direction and intent of Dua’s sound is more clear to listeners with this second track, showing a tactical (and very wise) move by the youngster.

Sounds like: Jessie Ware, Ben Khan, FKA Twigs, Jess Glynne, REMMI, Foxes, Marina & The Diamonds

Premiere: REMMI – Nuumb

REMMI

REMMI

Bubbling under the pop surface is Nashville-based REMMI. You may recognise her vocals from Black Coast‘s ‘Gold Chain’.

REMMI appears pretty nonchalant in her new track ‘Nuumb’ declaring, “You can take off if you want…I’m just nuumb”, but we expect from the brooding tone of the track, this isn’t really how she’s feeling, and that she’s pretty down about the death of the relationship described in the track.

‘Nuumb’ once again shows us REMMI’s skills in songwriting and production; to successfully construct a catchy track that has a deeper meaning.

REMMI’s EP ‘New America’ is out tomorrow via Hard Water Records. Order on iTunes.

Sounds like: ASTR, Lorde, Evvy, Noosa, Dominique, Ben Khan, Shura, Imogen Heap, VÉRITÉ, Leena Ojala, Broods, July Child
