Hudson Scott – Gone

Hudson Scott

Hudson Scott

South London via Oxford, carpenter-turned-musician, Hudson Scott has aired ‘Gone’, the third and final euphoric funk/pop track taken from his debut EP ‘Clay’.

He’s been long time practising for his solo career, performing brass with the likes of Foals, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and Petite Noir.

Written in his bedroom, produced by friend and fellow musician Duncan Tootill – with additional production and mixing from Blossoms‘ collaborator Rich Turvey – the ‘Clay’ EP is, at its core, a collection of perfumed love songs and woozy disco-ready jams.

Listen to ‘Gone’ below.

Christa Vi – Makeshift Happiness

Christa Vi - Makeshift Happiness

Christa Vi – Makeshift Happiness

Australian / German singer songwriter Christa Vi has released the video for the title track from her latest EP, ‘Makeshift Happiness’.

Christa has a casual obsession with origami and paper-craft, mainly because of the concept of creating something beautiful or functional out of something ordinary, and like her hobby, her music is delicately crafted, but this time it is in layers of lush vocals and synths.

The single has been co-produced by Dalston-based multi-instrumentalist Andrew McDonnell (Petite Noir, Suns, Crystal Fighters). Other collaborators for this single include Melbourne- based illustrator and painter Erin Greer, who provided the cover-art, and her video was shot by London-based director Chris Turner / Favourite Colour Black (Editors, Gazelle Twin).

The EP was released on 25 September via Christa’s own record label, Tangelo Records.

Petite Noir – Chess

Petite Noir

Petite Noir

Petite Noir is South African Yannick Ilunga. You may recognise his name; he was the front man of electronic band, Popskarr and advocate of Capital of Cool.

The new track ‘Chess’ is produced by Luke Smith (Foals, Depeche Mode). The lyrics were constructed following an instant message conversation that Noir had on the day of recording. The new lyrics, rewritten about the demise of a relationship, instantly replaced the original lyrics Noir was preparing to record that very day.

The accompanying video was directed by Cieron Magat and was inspired by the works of Ghanaian photographer, Philip Kwame Apagya. Watch the video below:

The track has been taken from the forthcoming ‘King of Anxiety EP’, which is released 19 January 2015 via Domino’s sister label, Double Six.
