NEDA – Prehistoric Love

NEDA

NEDA

NEDA (aka Tenielle Neda) is an Australian songstress with a huge background in music.

Having worked with Mark Myers (The Middle East, Emma Louise), Wayne Connelly (Boy and Bear, Cloud Control) and most recently Neal Sutherland (Bertie Blackman), NEDA is now independent and sharing her new material, which includes ‘Prehistoric Love’; a track written with Perth duo, The Opposite Kids.

What struck us the most with this song is her original vocals, playing carefully with minimalistic beats.

Her second EP is set to drop later this year.

Sounds like: Feist, Emma Louise, Charli XCX, Alice Jemima, Zella Day

Amanda Merdzan – Glow

Amanda Merdzan

Amanda Merdzan

Amanda Merdzan is a London-based artist, originally from Perth, Australia.

An immediately calming and impressive number, the video for her new synth pop single, ‘Glow’, shows Amanda standing under a glowing light in a darkened room, and it’s pretty damn mesmerising!

‘Glow’ is the second single from her upcoming EP, which is due for release in July.

Alex Brittan – (Can’t) Relax

Alex Brittan

Alex Brittan

Alex Brittan is an Australian-based, self-acclaimed “songwriter, producer & pop fanatic”.

We first fell in love with Alex’s sound listening to ‘Thirsty Bird’, which can be found on our April playlist.

His latest track ‘(Can’t) Relax’ is (according to Alex) about being stuck in a relationship where you’re Sandra Bullock and the other person is OUTER SPACE!

Whoever and whatever the track is about, it’s a great introduction to Alex’s sound.

Listen below and enjoy!

Lilt – Don’t Tell Me

We were contacted with a track by Matt Mclean of Australian indietronica duo, Lilt, and we are so glad he did!

‘Don’t Tell Me’ is full of gorgeous sky-high vocals (courtesy of Louise Penman) layered over crisp synth production (with the odd bit of dub thrown in for extra measure!).

Scenic – Shockwaves

Scenic

Youthful Perth boys Scenic joined the likes of Aeroplane and fellow Aussies Jagwar Ma on the Future Classic roster in 2011, fitting in like a missing giant disco jigsaw piece.

They were quickly spotted by ‘The Godfather of French Electro’, Joakim, who released their first single ‘This Can’t Be’ on his Tigersushi label out of Paris.

Their fantastic debut EP ‘Another Sky’ was recorded in a studio that the boys set up in a beach house in a small community south of Perth and the songs are simply written about the places they’ve been and the people they’ve met.

Following the release of ‘Another Sky’ with the two original tracks and an insanely good remix from The Magician, Future Classic introduces the lead single and title track from their sophomore EP titled ‘Shockwaves’. The single was released on iTunes on 28 June. The release date of the EP is still being kept under wraps by Future Classic.

The new video of ‘Shockwaves’ is a montage of well-timed scenes from the early 80s and is classic retro, nostalgic, and disco psychedelia.

Sounds like: Phoenix, Jagwar Ma, Cut Copy, Gypsy & The Cat, Du Tonc
