Shura – Touch

Shura

Shura

Shura (aka Aleksandra Denton) was born in London to a Russian actress and an English documentary filmmaker.

Shura’s passion for music came via her brother, who would DJ drum-and-bass at the weekends, and installed an early love of electronic music in his sister.

As funky as Blood Orange‘s ‘You’re Not Good Enough’, the track has gone Top 5 on Hype Machine, and picked up over 100,000 plays in its first week on Soundcloud.

‘Touch’ is a break-up song which captures the sadness of not being with somebody anymore, but also the infinite tenderness of your time together.

The sensual debut video was directed by and starring Shura’s group of friends and features a cameo from Shura herself:

‘Touch’ is also on the Indietronica February playlist.

Sounds like: Blood Orange, Massive Attack

MGMT – Alien Days

MGMT

MGMT

Alien days are coming.

MGMT have released the very peculiar video for ‘Alien Days’, which we guarantee will get your mind thinking and foot tapping.

The video first focuses its attention on a young Amish couple who are strapped into giant gyroscopes and later become pregnant with an alien baby. If you like caviar, do not watch what happens to the newborn! The rest of the sequences follow a pair of aliens dancing and firing beams of light from the palms of their hands.

I’m not sure what space hoppers MGMT have been taking, but ‘Alien Days’ is a perfect way to celebrate halloween.

The first track on MGMT’s self-titled third album which was released on September 17 2013.

Sounds like; Empire of the Sun, Foster the People, Tame Impala

I Break Horses – Faith

I BREAK HORSES

I BREAK HORSES

With their much-anticipated second album due in early 2014, Maria Lindén and Fredrik Balck (aka I BREAK HORSES) have just unveiled an incredible video for new single ‘Faith’.

With its hypnotic beats and swirling synths, ‘Faith’ brilliantly signals the more electronically charged, dance-oriented direction of the band’s new material.

Directed by Magnus Härdner, the mesmerizing black and white accompanying video was shot in Stockholm.

Black and white is definitely cool.

The goosebump-inducing ‘Faith’ is in direct competition with our favourite track ‘Winter Beats’, taken from the band’s first album, ‘Hearts’ (which you can purchase on iTunes here). There is no denying that with their new work, they continue to break horses, and hearts.

I BREAK HORSES are supporting Sigur Rós on their European tour in November 2013 starting in Dublin on November 16 and finishing in Oslo on 28 November.

Sounds like: Death Rattle, Soft As Snow, The Chemical Brothers, The Sounds
