Bianca Gisselle – You

Bianca Gissellle by Anna Maria Lopez

Bianca Gissellle by Anna Maria Lopez

Try stop yourself singing along to Bianca Gisselle’s newest single, ‘You’. Go on, we dare you.

Los Angeles-based Gisselle has collaborated with Grammy nominated engineer/producer Steve Rusch (Solange, Miguel) and co-writer Rocco DellaNeve on the track. Fusing electronic production with soulful melodies, ‘You’ is about a relationship coming to an end, but we have no doubt that this is just the start for Gisselle.

‘You’ is the first single off her upcoming ‘Get Back to Love: Side B’ EP which will be released later this year.

Satellite Mode – Family

Satellite Mode

Satellite Mode

Satellite Mode is NYC duo, Jess Carvo and Alex Marko.

Following an unfortunate, sudden tragedy in Jess’s family, the duo were forced to really dig deep into their emotional selves and decide whether they wanted to continue creating music. Luckily for us, they did and the result is beautifully haunting vocals with electronic textures and pop inspired melodies

Premiere: Christa VI – Give And Take

Christa Vi by Jon Enoch

Christa Vi by Jon Enoch

Christa VI returns with ‘Give And Take’.

It’s a little more synth-based than we are used to hearing from Christa VI, but she has been busy crafting her sound, working with the likes Ben Fitzgerald (Stubborn Heart) on production, as well as collaborating with artists such as Box of Wolves from Canada and Australian songwriter Ben Salter (ABC Music)

Despite the upbeat feel of the track, Christa VI ensures that we aren’t distracted from the lyrical focus of ‘Give And Take’, which essentially documents a relationship tug-of-war.

‘Give And Take’ has been taken from Christa VI’s upcoming album, ‘Makeshift Happiness’, out later in the year on Tangelo Records.

Rachel Thomasin is a 20-something vocalist, songwriter, and producer from Boston who crafts infectious and atmospheric pop music. She has been self-releasing music and performing since 2012.

Reminiscent of Marina & The Diamonds, her track ‘Love Echoes On’ is full of strong vocals, an eclectic variety of synths, samplers, and instruments, including a panpipe addition (which we love).

Listen below.

The track has been taken from her generous 13 track album, ‘Constellations’, which is available for streaming on Rachel’s Soundcloud and to purchase on her Bandcamp.

Christa Vi – Makeshift Happiness

Christa Vi - Makeshift Happiness

Christa Vi – Makeshift Happiness

Australian / German singer songwriter Christa Vi has released the video for the title track from her latest EP, ‘Makeshift Happiness’.

Christa has a casual obsession with origami and paper-craft, mainly because of the concept of creating something beautiful or functional out of something ordinary, and like her hobby, her music is delicately crafted, but this time it is in layers of lush vocals and synths.

The single has been co-produced by Dalston-based multi-instrumentalist Andrew McDonnell (Petite Noir, Suns, Crystal Fighters). Other collaborators for this single include Melbourne- based illustrator and painter Erin Greer, who provided the cover-art, and her video was shot by London-based director Chris Turner / Favourite Colour Black (Editors, Gazelle Twin).

The EP was released on 25 September via Christa’s own record label, Tangelo Records.

Kaleida – Aliaa

Kaleida

Kaleida

Continuing in their fight for equal rights through their music, Kaleida returns with ‘Aliaa’.

The track is based on the story of the Egyptian feminist and activist Aliaa Elmahdy, who, in 2011, posted a nude self portrait on her blog as a protest against – in her words – “a society of violence, racism, sexism, sexual harassment and hypocrisy”. The post received of 2 million hits within a short period during the Arab Spring and was the subject of intense controversy and criticism. Aliaa faced a backlash of death threats, and escaped both a kidnapping and rape attempt. She was eventually granted political asylum in Sweden.
