Great Good Fine Ok – Body Diamond EP

Great Good Fine Ok

Great Good Fine Ok

Great Good Fine OK (GGFO) is Brooklyn-based Luke and John.

Despite the release of ‘You’re The One For Me’ being welcomed with open arms by music lovers and blogs alike, GGFO never really got the recognition they deserved, but fear not they are back with an incredible EP and it thankfully includes ‘You’re The One For Me’ as the introductory track.

The second track on the ‘Body Diamond’ EP is ‘Not Going Home’; a twinkling pop gem perfect for fans of Passion Pit and Pistol Shrimp.

Third track ‘By My Side’ replicates a funky 80’s jam full of synth sax.

In comparison, the last track on the EP is more of a mellow one. ‘Say It All’ is familiarly Yeasayer-esque but with a twinge of tasty R&B in there.

The ‘Body Diamond’ EP is out today via Neon Gold Records and can be purchased on iTunes.

The Knocks – Savior (featuring Wes Miles of Ra Ra Riot)

The Knocks

The Knocks

The Knocks are a noisey electronic music duo consisting of Ben ‘B-Roc’ Ruttner and James ‘JPatt’ Patterson.

The guys chose the name after neighbours were forced to knock on their door and complain to them for making much noise.

The remix gurus have now teamed up with with Wes Miles of Ra Ra Riot to create a smooth modern track with a classic 90s vibe.

It’s completely fitting that the track has been taken from their new EP, ‘Comfortable’, which is released today via Neon Gold Records.

To celebrate the EP release and also reaching 50,000 fans on Facebook, the guys are playing a DJ set a Le Pousson Rouge this Thursday. If you are in the area, it’s definitely worth going and offering up your residence for an afterparty!

And for old time’s sake, check out the video for ‘Modern Hearts’ (featuring St. Lucia) which is also on our June playlist.

Talking of St. Lucia…like The Knocks remix of ‘Elevate’ on Hype Machine and get a free download of the track.

Sounds like: Fenech-Soler, Smallpools, St. Lucia, Cut Copy, Flight Facilities, Passion Pit

Lina Fouro

Lina Fouro

Lina Fouro is a street smart Afghan-Canadian singer. Her super catchy track, ‘Bang Bang Baby’ is expected to be on her upcoming album ‘The Love Cycle’, which explores the highs and lows of love.

‘Bang Bang Baby’ sounds like it has been produced in Ibiza, but don’t be fooled into thinking this is just another Balearic-sounding summer hit from an artist across the pond because 1 minute in, ‘Bang Bang Baby’ is flipped on its head and turns into a molten of dubstep inspired bass.

KYLIAN

KYLIAN

Violin-trained Emily Holden (aka KYLIAN) has impressed us with her classical twist on electronica. Her first ballad is subtle, yet it gives us a snippet of what is to come from the singer. The primitive synths and towering drums definitely intrigue us.

Futurecop!

British Futurecop! are full impact, disney-loaded electronica. Growing up together, the nostalgic Futurecop! boys, Manzur Iqbal and Peter Carrol, listened to punk pop, but always had an interest in 80’s and early 90’s pop culture.

HAERTS – All The Days

HAERTS

HAERTS

HAERTS is a band from New York hailing from Germany, England, and the US. The group consist of Nini Fabi, Ben Gebert, Garrett Ienner, Derek McWilliams, and Jonathan Schmidt.

Fabi recently described the band as being like a falcon. Their 80s inspired first single is appropriately entitled ‘Wings’.

Following on from ‘Wings’ is a more muscular, lovelorn ‘All The Days’.

The video for ‘All The Days’ leads us straight onto the dance floor to watch dancers salsa along to Fabi’s haunting vocals, as she reminisces on a lost love.

Director, Bridget Palardy and cinematographer, Todd Banhazl were recruited by Aritzia Magazine to produce the vignette, which was filmed in Havana-inspired nightclub La Descarga. It also features Aritzia’s new clothing line.

We’ve already posted Joywave‘s ramped up remix of ‘All The Days’ on the Indietronica Facebook and Twitter pages, but we thought we would post it again as we can’t get enough of it!

HAERTS have just commenced touring the US with Washed Out and their highly anticipated EP ‘Hemiplegia’ is out on 17 September 2013 via Colombia Records. The EP has received further international input, being produced by Jean-Philip Grobler (aka St. Lucia).

Find out more about the band below as they perform in their Williamsburg studio in ‘Yours Truly Presents HAERTS’:

Selebrities – Temporary Touch

Selebrities

Selebrities

With their first US West Coast tour beginning on 15 August 2013, Selebrities are a former Florida, now Brooklyn-based band. Maria Usbeck (vocals), Jer Robert Paulin (guitar, bass) and Max Peterson (keyboards) released their debut album ‘Delusions’ on 10 July 2012.

They have a lot of competition with the 80s new wave comeback in full swing, but no other band seems to sound as original as Selebrities.

Their second album ‘Lovely Things’ throws us even more post-punk 80s flashbacks.

The second upbeat, and slightly grungy track from the album is ‘Temporary Touch‘. The video featured below films Maria Usbeck singing to us in various ways, including with a lion. We have no idea why the lion is in the video, but she is looking incredibly like Chrissie Hynde from The Pretenders, which isn’t a bad thing.

The video was directed by Holland Brown.

Fellow Cascine labelmates, Keep Shelly in Athens have also remixed ‘Temporary Touch’ and is it available for free download.

Broken heart? Upload your picture on the Selebrities’ website and join their wall of broken hearts.

Sounds like: Keep Shelly in Athens, Kisses, Fleetwood Mac, New Order, The Pretenders
