FIERO – Reunion

FIERO by Collin Erie

FIERO by Collin Erie

Slotting in perfectly amongst some of the wonderful female-led acts music has to offer in 2020 is FIERO – a duo comprised of Los Angeles-based Kelsey Bulkin and Nashville-based Joseph Bogan.

They have just released their new EP, ‘Reunion’ – a collection of four indietronica based songs. With their breezy vocals that glow with a vintage aesthetic, you feel wrapped in a warm musical blanket, that invigorates the ultimate euphoric and dream-pop state.

Speaking about the new EP, the band says,

“Everything in existence is one. this oneness has never been more clear than now with the cause and effect of individual actions affecting the whole. when you see more of life you realize everything eventually comes together or collides or collapses. all appearance of separation or division are temporary and are serving an eventual and inevitable reunion. the oneness cannot be divided; not in any real sense. these songs are sensitive and pulsing as the heart is as it journeys through the wilderness into that promised land. fiero means bold and i like to think of it as the abandon that comes when you have nothing left to lose and everything feels cheap except what’s in your heart.”

Sounds like: Shura, Anna Of The North, Say Lou Lou, Wet, Paperwhite, Scavenger Hunt, HAERTS, Prinze George, MS MR, Mr Little Jeans, Men I Trust

Dominique – Use Me

Dominique

Hype Machine beauty and bedroom producer Dominique shares ‘Use Me’.

The track has an empowering feel to it, but do not be deceived, as it’s actually one of the saddest, more intro-reflective songs Dominique has written to date, about “being so hopelessly in love with someone that you’d do anything and everything just to be around them.”

Sounds like: VÉRITÉ, CAPPA, Broods, Mr Little Jeans, Kate Boy, Lorde, Lykke Li, Sigrid

Dominique – If I Could Go Back

Dominique

Dominique

Hurrah! Dominique is back with a synth-laden track called ‘If I Could Go Back’.

Based in NYC, this bedroom producer is completely self-taught on Abberton, and has a knack of creating pop gems.

Of the track, Dominique explains,

“The hook for this track came to me when I was reminiscing about parts of my college years. I moved to NYC from Florida when I was 18 and that was a big change for me–I often felt totally out of place and unconfident. Now that I’m older and more adjusted, I can’t believe I let my fear of saying something stupid keep me from speaking out all the time. It’s funny how as we get older, the stuff that used to scare the hell out of us begins to seem so insignificant. This song is all about wishing you could go back, relive, and make the most out of those times you felt most insecure, but with the inclusion of your newfound confidence.”

Expect an EP in early December.

Sounds like: Goldroom, Monogem, VÉRITÉ, CAPPA, Broods, Mr Little Jeans, Kate Boy, Lorde, Lykke Li

Playlist: Dominique

Dominique

Dominique

NYC-based songstress and producer, Dominique is back on our radar with a new track called ‘Good Girl’.

Proving just this, Dominique has put together a playlist for Indietronica. Watch out, this one is exploding with synths!

Treez Lowkey x Take a Daytrip – “Listen”

I love this new one from two of my favorite producers, and Treez’s hook in the chorus is infectious.

Terror Jr – “Trippin”

I really look up to Felix Snow’s production and I think his signature sound is going to majorly influence the music world. He is the master of creating hooks out of chopped up vocals and placing them in this addicting, ambient atmosphere.

Abra – “Crybaby”

I saw Abra when she opened up for Empress Of in NYC last year. This new one from her reminds me a bit of Jesse Lanza. I love her voice and could watch her videos for days.

Mat Zo – “Sinful (feat. I See MONSTAS)”

Mat Zo is another producer I really look up to. I find his technical genius really inspiring. This is one of my favorite songs off his new album.

Wolkoff – “The Rules You Know”

I’m such a fan of Wolkoff’s style, lyrics, and hooks. It’s paired perfectly with productions from Icarus Moth. This is such a feel-good song to me.

Miike Snow – “My Trigger”

I have to give a shout out to my all-time favorites. I think the new direction they took with their recent LP is fantastic, and this song is one of my favorites from them.

Sofi De La Torre – “Sit Down”

I seriously love everything this girl puts out. It really is–as she puts it–pop done right. I wish more people knew about her.

Ofelia K – “Cinco”

I freaked out when I first heard this song. It’s so inventive and catchy, and the engineering is really good too. It’s crystal clear and the string instruments sound incredible.

Allie X – “Too Much To Dream”

Allie X is seriously such a genius when it comes to lyrical/topical content in her music. Not to mention her incomparable songwriting, vocal, and performance abilities. She’s the total package.

Kiiara – “Tennessee”

This is a throwback, but this is hands down my favorite track from Kiiara. I can’t wait to hear new music and see how far she goes this year.

Sounds like: Fyfe, Goldroom, Monogem, VÉRITÉ, Broods, Mr Little Jeans, Kate Boy, Lorde, Lykke Li

The Fauve

The Fauve

The Fauve is the expressive new project from Hayley Taylor.

Originally an acoustic indie/rock singer, Taylor has taken the leap into electronica. But she hasn’t done it lightly. No, Hayley has started by collaborating with musicians like The Bravery‘s Anthony Burulcich, John Morrical (Santigold, Charli XCXMr. Little Jeans), and Dan Romer (Ingrid Michaelson) to create a audacious electronic sound full of shimmering electronics and fiery drumbeats.

Be the first to listen to ‘Falling Hard’.

Expect the full album out by the end of 2016.

AUGUSTE – Slow Motion

Auguste

Auguste

South Australian step-sisters Beth & Skye (aka Auguste) proudly unveil the hotly anticipated music video for their critically acclaimed debut single ‘Slow Motion’.

Produced by Andy Bull and directed by Aaron Schuppan, the clip revolves around the artistic stylings of Brooks Salzwedel, the Los Angeles based artist who conceptualised the single art for ‘Slow Motion’.

A song about about infatuation, ‘Slow Motion’ evokes the feeling of complete disarmament one feels at the mere sight of the object of their desire. “Slow Motion is about that feeling you get when you unexpectedly see someone you are in love with or infatuated by. Everything starts to move in slow motion and feelings come crashing in from all directions”, Skye explains.

Kate Boy - Midnight Sun

Kate Boy returns with new track, ‘Midnight Sun’ which will be featured on their debut album ‘ONE’, set for release this November.
