South Devon duo, Matthew and Me is comprised of lead vocalist/songwriter Matthew Board, and drummer Lucy Fawcett.

They have just shared ‘Figure’, a slightly more robust track than ‘Joy’ (which drew comparisons to Mogwai and Sigur Rós), with its 90’s indie rock sensibilities that offers immediate “light relief”.

‘Figure’ has been taken from their new EP, ‘Startpoint’, which is has been produced by Chris Bond (Ben Howard, Eliza Shaddad) and is due for release on 18 November via Beatnik Creative.

Vogue Dots – Way With Silence

Vogue Dots (aka Tynan Dunfield Babette Hayward) is a Canadian pop duo from Halifax, New Brunswick. We were first drawn in by their name but soon became distracted by their haunting, yet alluring music.

Mesmerising new single, ‘Way With Silence’, follows on from the success of ‘Way Out’ (which was originally released on Cascine’s digital singles label CSCN).

‘Way With Silence’ is a mysterious, but gorgeously melodic track. It is full of synth-based structures, yet instantly evokes lament.

The track is taken from the forthcoming sophomore ‘Mauka EP’, which was recorded in a cottage on Belle Isle and is due out 21 October via Montreal’s Indica Records. It follows on from last summer’s debut EP ‘Toska’.

Zola Blood is the latest signing to Pond Life Songs, the label synonymous with Talk Talk’s 1991 album ‘Laughing Stock’ and more recently Liverpool’s avant-pop trio Ninetails. Despite a 22-year hiatus, Pond Life’s passion for bold, inventive new music remains strong, as proved by their newest signing.

First track ‘Grace’ combines R&B with ambient electronica and haunting vocals similar to the that of Foals’ Yannis Philippakis.

Zola Blood’s intricate arrangements were developed over a year on a Hackney Wick industrial estate, dissecting mobile phone recordings and programming synthesisers.

Despite the allure, Zola Blood is a competent group with a bright future ahead.

Sigur Rós present #Stormur

Icelandic post-rockers Sigur Rós have unveiled the video for their new track, ‘#Stormur’. Following the new interactive social media trend, fans are invited to tag their Instagram photo and video interpretations of ‘Stormur’. Submissions will then be edited into the live music video.

Stormur translates to ‘powerful gale, a force able to disrupt and alter all that comes in its path’ and there are some pretty good videos uploaded already.

The track is taken from their seventh studio album ‘Kveikur’, which was internationally released on June 17 2013 through their new label, XL Recordings.
