Meadowlark – Headlights

Meadowlark

Meadowlark

We’ve been long term fans of Meadowlark and it’s been a privilege to watch them grow from strength to strength over the last couple of years.

The Bristol duo have unveiled the official video for their new single ‘Headlights’.

Directed by the band’s, Dan Broadley, the video was filmed in one take. Dan explains,

“The expressive dancing explores many of the complex emotions that fuel a relationship, the passion, the rage, the bubble that encapsulates both bodies. Meanwhile Kate and myself weave in and out of this energetic routine, narrating the story from the lyrics whilst remaining invisible to the characters.”

Signed to Believe Recordings (James Vincent McMorrow, Gavin James), Meadowlark have a debut album on the horizon for 2017.

AMETHYSTS (Live) – 9:00pm

Amethysts

Amethysts

BBC favourites, AMETHYSTS, create heartwarming indietronica with a pop tinge.

Skilful in beautiful slow burners, which we don’t think can be offered from any other combo than a male-female duo, we think this will be a very special performance indeed.

The Beat-Herder Festival

Beat Herder

Beat Herder

The Beat-Herder Festival is in the running to be one of the UK’s next best festivals for upcoming, new music.

Originating from roots as a free rave on the Lancashire moors in 2006, Beat-Herder Festival has grown to where it is today thanks to a swift word-of-mouth growth and a devout army of fans who come back year on year.

Hidden in the fields of The Ribble Valley in Lancashire, this year’s The Maison D’Etre stage will host to an intimate 12,000 crowd and feature some of Indietronica’s favourite artists, including electro-pop duo Cash + David, enigmatic London band Haelos, BBC introducing favourite Zibra, singer and multi-instrumentalist Rationale, dance-pop outfit NIMMO, York electro six-piece Grinny Grandad, sweet folktronica duo Meadowlark, and Brighton’s Yonaka (who recently signed to Phil Taggart‘s Hometown Records).

Check out the awesome playlist below.

The Beat-Herder Festival is on from 15 to 17 July and tickets can be purchased from the website.

Meadowlark – Paraffin

Meadowlark by Giles Smith

Meadowlark by Giles Smith

Meadowlark (aka Kate McGill and Daniel Broadley) return with the brilliant new single called ‘Paraffin’.

We wrote about the duo some time ago, but since then their sound appears to have evolved; gradually building the tracks from simple melodies into dense sonic structures was an experimental process through which Meadowlark have firmly found their creative voice.

Directed by James Beale (All We Are, Phantogram, Jon Hopkins), the video is a dream-like take on a relationship that is skewed both visually and narratively.

Speaking about the concept behind the film, the band explain: “We’ve previously directed all our own music videos and this was the first time we had ever worked with someone else on one of our songs. It was amazing to not only collaborate with a new mind but to also be able to watch the video with fresh eyes for the first time, to enjoy it as someone else would. ‘Paraffin’ is ultimately a song about the ups and downs of a relationship and James has managed to show that intimately and openly between the two characters.”

‘Paraffin’ is the title track from Meadowlark’s forthcoming EP which is set for release on 22nd April via Believe Recordings. The new record is the follow up to Meadowlark’s 2015 released ‘Dual’ EP which was produced by Ant West of Oh Wonder.
