Lucia & The Best Boys by Oli Erskine

Lucia & The Best Boys returns with the bold visuals for ‘Perfectly Untrue’.

A more euphoric take on previous releases, the new video perfectly captures the glamorous essence of frontwoman, Lucia Fairfull, who is adorned in the LOVERBOY collection by renowned fashion designer Charles Jeffrey (winner of the British Emerging Talent Award at Fashion Awards 2017), as she adopts numerous guises in order to create multiple versions that reveal a darker understanding of self, and championing symbolic insights of perceived behaviour.

The single is taken from their nostalgia-laden EP ‘The State Of Things’, out on 9 October via Sweet Jane Recordings.

Sounds like: Pat Benatar, Yonaka, Calva Louise, Courtney Love, Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush, Miley Cyrus

Hockey Dad – Good Eye

Hockey Dad by Ian Laidlaw

Hockey Dad by Ian Laidlaw

Australian-based Hockey Dad is a musical project formed by lifelong best mates Zach Stephenson (vocals/guitar) and Billy Fleming (drums). Having met in early childhood as next-door neighbours, the two turned to music to combat the stillness of small-town coastal life, taking their name from an episode of The Simpsons, and jamming in Dad’s back shed.

Their delectably rough take on scuzzy indie-rock is reminiscent of the Seattle grunge days, and coincidentally their upcoming third album ‘Brain Candy’ – out on 31 July via Farmer & The Owl / BMG – was produced in Seattle with John Goodmanson (Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill, Death Cab For Cutie, Blonde Redhead), and mixed by Troy Glessner (Alice in Chains, The Blood Brothers, Foo Fighters).

Lucia & The Best Boys – City of Angels

Lucia

Lucia & The Best Boys shares brand new single ‘City Of Angels’, taken from their ‘Eternity EP’, both out now via Sweet Jane Recordings.

With a nod to driving 80’s inspirations combined with a frontwoman, who bleeds a fierce rock attitude, ‘City of Angels’ focuses on isolation and the trappings of society. Lucia Fairfull explains,

“City of Angels is for anyone who has ever felt unaccepted in society, and trapped in a mindset of anxiety.

“People are constantly judging themselves, others, and comparing the two, which is now intensified by social media. The point is that we do not live in a world full of perfect people (A city of Angels), everyone is entitled to originality, flaws, and no one should feel the need to suppress their personality for the sake of someone else, who probably has also felt the same way.”
