Sam Setton – Luv U Right

Sam Setton

New York singer Sam Setton shares ‘Luv U Right’, as featured on his ‘Renegade’ EP, which explores the end of his most recent relationship.

Speaking about ‘Luv U Right’, Sam explains, “This song is about the feeling I had when I realized I was in love, but at the same time conflicted, because I’m not sure she realizes it and if she’s ready or not. I’m asking her to let me in, and letting her know I’m the one for her… I wrote this song in hopes it can be an anthem for people who think they aren’t valued enough in the eyes of their lovers.”

Sam Setton – Berlin

Sam Setton

Sam Setton

New York City native Sam Setton is a singer/songwriter who has been creating raw and honest music since his early teens.

Don’t be deceived, though. Sam has taken a while crafting his sound of electronically driven pop and R&B – possibly due to his high flying job as a financial consultant – but he has still managed to find time in the evenings to escape and experiment with his music.

His new track Berlin explores this struggle;

“Berlin is a song I wrote about the constant struggle of being in a toxic relationship. On the surface there’s honesty; feelings of regret, love and hate. But at the core, there is a hope that with patience, things will work out.”

Soleima – Wasted

Soleima

It’s Monday morning and some of you may still be wasted from the weekend’s antics, or even contemplating how the weekend was wasted.

One woman heavily discussing the wasted topic is Copenhagen-based singer Soleima (aka Sarah Mariegaard, formerly of Danish hip-hop outfit Flødeklinikken).

“Off-sounding” writings merged between electronic pop and hip-hop, luxurious synth arrangeents and majestic instrumental touches, ‘Wasted’ is a summery track. Production is courtesy of Vera (Liss, )

Previously living in Tanzania for a portion of her life, some of the vocal melody structures could arguably be inspired by the Sukumaland song tradition, the specific region in Tanzania where Sarah lived.

According to Soleima, “…the song is about allowing yourself to run away from a crazy and awful world. Using a disguise and forgetting everything for a moment. But also it is a song about having blinders on. Not recognising, or choosing to forget – that we are living in a fucked-up world.”

“To me the term “wasted” gets double sided in this song,” Soleima explains. “The obvious meaning is of cause being drunk/high and therefore unable to process thoughts and logic. The other way to look at it, is that some people, like myself, are able to lead a certain kind of life whereas many don’t have the same possibilities as me – and sometimes that chance can be wasted.”
