High school friends turned Billboard charting duo, Milky Chance have been on our radar for some time now, so we figured it was about time they did a playlist for us.

It’s perfect to listen to whilst you’re sipping on your morning coffee (or something stronger, if you’d prefer).

ROSALÍA – Delirio de Grandeza

She is just overall so good and really is one of the most powerful female pop artists around right now.

Rodrigo Amarante – Tardei

Such a good Songwriter, with beautiful Melodies. So raw and honest.

James Blake – To The Last

A master of perfection and detail. So much love for his music and dedication, and also as a singer he just never stops getting better and better.

Parcels – Tideuprightnow

Super sick band based in Berlin. Makes your hips go round and lovely harmonies you‘ll hear them sing.

Harry Styles – As It Was

One of the Greatest right now. His new album is a real masterpiece and shows his talent and variety in music.

Fred again.. – Kyle (i found you)

Such good vibes and awesome productions. Really made us dance in times when there was no real dancing together.

Wallners – All Again

Really fell in love with the melodies of this song, such a vibe.

Charlotte Day Wilson – If I Could

She is such a great performer and this song in particular made us shiver when we saw it!

C. Tangana – Demasiadas Mujeres

Watch his performance at NPR Tiny Desk Sessions – unbelievable and by far the best one ever on there!

Stromae – L‘enfer

His music is so powerful and he really is a maestro of transition heavy topics/feeling into danceable music.

Milky Chance – Colorado (Icarus Remix)

Those who have been reading the blog for a while, know that we don’t often include remixes on the site but we had to share Bristol based producers Icarus‘ new remix of Milky Chance‘s single ‘Colorado’.

It’s taken from the German indie superstar duo’s surprise mixtape, ‘Trip Tape,’ via their own independent record label, Muggelig Records. They’ve also just been nominated for “Best Band” at the German radio award 1live Krone, alongside artists including ÄTNA.

Icarus transform the single into their own world of euphoric synths and downtempo electronic-inspired rhythms and grooves, making this a standout remix.

Stockholm-based KIDDO is following in the cool Scandi footsteps of Dagny and Sigrid.

Her brazen new single is a song about escaping relating, as KIDDO reminisces “about a time when I knew I had lost everything but it was too painful to face it so I tried to ignore the truth for a little longer in every possible way.”

Time to get funky and sexy with Knox White‘s new single ‘You’ve Been My Girl’.

Following some unexpected advice from music kings, Lionel Ritchie and Paul McCartney, the Los Angeles-based Knox decided to hit up New Orleans to gain some creative perspective. Upon his return to Los Angeles, Knox started collaborating and touring with producer Josh Legg aka Goldroom, and the result is an exciting throwback style of chill wave pop.

Meet 22 year old Katherine Evans. It says on her SoundCloud page that she likes to sing and sleep. We are not sure about her knack of sleeping, but she sings a damn good song!

With plenty of awards under her belt, she is far from taking it slow, unlike her new single, which is about capturing a fleeting and reckless moment.

Vera – Nobody Else

Vera

Standing firmly on his own two feet is the young Copenhagen-based Vera (aka William Asingh).

His latest single, ‘Nobody Else’, was a collaborative effort with Off Bloom, and is influenced by the Caribbean novel ‘Wide Sargasso Sea’ by Jean Rhys, which is about a landowner’s Jamaican wife who is locked up in an attic for allegedly being mad.

The ‘Good Job – No Conversation’ EP is released on 8 December through Ultra Records/Ministry of Sound.

FKL is an experimental London/Seattle-based duo comprised of Joe Gillick and Sage Redman.

We’ve not heard anything like this in a long time, and can’t quite pinpoint their sound, which we think is a great thing!

So…pick up the phone, dial ‘1-800’ and order some sweet, trippy beats blended with highly seductive vocals.

Sacre

Sacre are hitting some serious Drake vibes with their new single ‘Stereo’.

It’s not the usual sound we hear from the French duo, but we kind of like it. The contrast between the classic electro vocals works well with the addition of rising French artist, rapper Dopize.

Londoner Martin Luke Brown has seemingly come out of nowhere with a banger of a indie pop track called ‘Opalite’ and he means business!

Speaking of the song, MLB says,

“Opalite as a song began with this hypnotic little drum loop and the words just came out. I write placeholder lyrics all the time and then chip away at them until they’re complete but I pretty much stuck with what rolled on Opalite. It just felt right. It’s about finding hope in something and not wanting to let itgo. Whether you find that hope in superstition or religion or love. Whatever really.”

MLB plays London’s Servant Jazz Quarters tonight and ‘Opalite’ is out now via LAB Records.

Tailor – Blame

Tailor - Blame

Birmingham-born singer/songwriter Tailor has already written for the likes of MØ, TĀLĀ, Huntar, FTSE and Peking Duk, and his own solo material is pretty decent too.

Bordering on alt-pop and electronic music, Tailor has a knack of discussing both sides of the story. His most recent release is a double-A side single called ‘Disillusion / Blame’.

Whilst ‘Disillusion’ is more upbeat in production, ‘Blame’ is about taking the hit in a relationship to benefit the unit as a whole.

LOVE SICK

We are all love sick to some degree.

Scottish girl/boy duo LOVE SICK share debut single ‘Bullet’, an ode to both heartbreak and obsession.

The couple met at a work Christmas party when Julie drunkenly let slip to Shaun (who also produced in his spare time) that she always wanted to be a singer. A few weeks later the duo coincidentally bumped into each other at a train station, and the rest is cosmic pop.

Another debut, this time from Perth-based artist and multi-instrumentalist, CAMARANO (aka Mat Cammarano).

Having previous been involved in performing with bands as well as producing and recording for other artists, Mat has decided to go it alone and release ‘Ashes’.

It’s a fuzzy masterpiece that would fit well in the lo-fi category, alongside the likes of Tame Impala, Big Scary or Bon Iver.

Tunbridge Wells (UK) locals The New Coast share ‘Sleeptalk’.

The addictive indie pop number swirls with heavy synths and echoey riffs, adding to The New Coast’s collection of distinct Southern sounds.

Speaking about the track the guys say,

“Writing ‘Sleeptalk’ felt massively cathartic for us and allowed us to explore a really personal moment in a cinematic, 3 minute pop song. Lyrically, for me, it pin points a delicate moment between two people, people who are just starting to get to know each other, but also notice these colourful and intense emotions in a very short period of time.

Even though the song is reliving a specific moment from last summer, I love the way that someone can take whatever personal vision and meaning they like from the lyrics. It almost feels necessary. I don’t think anyone is going to have the exact same sentiment sonically and lyrically, but thats the best part, its so expressive to create your own idealistic story from thewords. However, we like to make everything in our music feel cinematic and infectious, so we want to set the scene in peoples minds and hopefully it’ll take you to that place. Like you’re watching a cool movie with a soundtrack that sounds like your life.”

It’s slightly more restrained than his previous single, ’65 Roses’, but this approach keeps emotional tension throughout the track, whilst Martin Luke Brown continues to showcase his expansive vocal range with the accompaniment of an organ and the rumbling of bass lines.

Much like a symbol of love itself, the song starts with gentle vocals and a light percussion, building into a stronger chorus and something more powerful.

Inspired by the setting of Romeo & Juliet, Lostboycrow says the track represents “the meeting place of desire, where any star that shines or sun that sets must only be for two. And the very obstacles ahead say there is everything to prove. Love is an adventure, running blindly in it’s youth.”

Griffin Oskar – Hostage

21 year old pop producer Griffin Oskar moved to Los Angeles from Portland. This was to be his big break. After Griffin shared his music under the guise of Småland, dance producer, Danrell, reached out to him to remix the track. Millions of plays later, Griffin this signed to Republic Records.

The result is ‘Hostage’, with rocketing vocals and a beautifully heavy chorus.
