Exclusive: King Deco Playlist

King Deco

King Deco

King Deco is a newcomer who writes bubbly indie pop music with heartfelt lyrics.

“A lot of my music has to do with the idea of breaking free and growing the courage to go against the grain when you need to,” Deco says. “It also explores what it’s like to be a woman in number of different situations. I rarely write straight up love songs but when I do I like to approach it in a very fun, comedic, tongue-in-cheek kind of way.”

With that in mind, King Deco created a playlist for us!

Lostboy Crow – Love Won’t Sleep
I love it when a song starts and you think it’s going to be one thing but it seamlessly opens up into something totally different.

Tame Impala – Yes I’m Changing
Feels like candles are lit and incense is burning

Kill J – Trickle Trickle
My go to song when I’m getting ready to go out

Miike Snow – Genghis Khan
Obsessed with these lyrics

Great Good Fine Ok – Already Love
Perfect song to start your day

Jeremih – Planez
The opening reminds me of Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games” and in the first 3 seconds of the song I never know which one is gonna start playing.

The Knocks – Kiss The Sky
Makes you feel good. Every. single. time.

Imad Royal – Down For Whatever
It’s one of those songs you can play anywhere. Car, club, bedroom, studio.

The Weeknd – As You Are
The little details in the production, like that fluttery synth floating in between the lines of the second verse.

Christine and The Queens – Saint Claude
Always yes to french vocals.

Sounds like: MØ, Grimes, Sizzy Rocket

Mint Trip – Virga

Mint Trip

Mint Trip

Mint Trip is a foursome from Miami’s Frost School of Music, who are all about the musical feels.

Comprising of Amy (vocals), Anthony (guitar, synth, drum pads, backup vocals), Brian (bass, mixing), and Max (guitar, synth, drum pads, production), they formed in January 2015 over a love of electronic and non-electronic music, and a mutual interest in pushing the boundaries of pop music.

Their second single, ‘Virga’, is about Amy’s brother, a meteorology major who had to leave Miami after two years and go back to Maryland. He was interested in clouds, and Virga is the type of cloud that forms in vertical streaks under a larger cloud in a rainstorm.

Have a listen below:

‘Virga’ has been taken from their first EP, which is due out this year.

Sounds like: Purity Ring, Keep Shelly In Athens, Kill J, Chrvches, Wildhart

Acre Tarn – Flex

Acre Tarn

Acre Tarn

Acre Tarn is the electronic music project from Anna-Louisa Etherington, a singer/producer originally from the Lake District.

Acre Tarn has a passion for disjointed industrial beats cut into powerful, yet ghostly landscapes and the new track ‘Flex’ is no exception. Combine this with Anna-Louisa’s autumnal and echoey vocals, and you are onto a winner.

It is the first track taken from the forthcoming second EP.

Sounds like: Purity Ring, Chvrches, Keep Shelly in Athens, Kill J, Gems, Wildhart, Grimes, Mons Montis, Kate Bush, Little Dragon, ASTR, Cocteau-Twins, Saycet, St Lo

Acre Tarn – Dawn Faces

Acre Tarn - Dawn Faces

Acre Tarn – Dawn Faces

Acre Tarn is the electronic music project from Anna-Louisa Etherington, a singer/producer originally from the Lake District.

The debut ‘Clasp and Shake EP’ came with a number of video collaborations from Manchester-based video-jam projects that projected colourful and haunting visuals upon the music. Staying true to her roots, Anna’s new track Dawn Faces’ features a children’s choir and a number of samples recorded in a cave not far from the lake from which Acre Tarn takes its name.

As the name suggests, ‘Dawn Faces’ is a multifaceted and haunting affair with astounding impact. The listener is lead on a mountainous journey full of ethereal synths, beats that drive with industrial clatter, and a syrupy bass line into the spaces around a huge attention-grabbing chorus.

Sounds like: Purity Ring, Chvrches, Keep Shelly in Athens, Kill J, Gems, Wildhart, Grimes, Mons Montis, Kate Bush, Little Dragon, ASTR
