Jenaux – Give It Up

Jenaux - Give It Up

Jenaux is giving us some serious Duke Dumont vibes with his new single ‘Give It Up’.

Usually one for a remix, the NYC-based producer has turned his tricks to writing solo material. Lead by a strong bassline and funky vocal harmonies, ‘Give It Up’ gives us disco-licking good vibes and proves this is the right direction for Jenaux.

Playlist: Tube & Berger

Tube & Berger by Claudio Oliverio

Tube & Berger by Claudio Oliverio

German duo, Tube & Berger (aka Arndt Roerig and Marko Vidovic) have been producing music for a while now, but it’s only recently that they’ve really sparked our interest. Working hard on evolving their sound from pure club grooves to a more ‘live’ focused indietronica styling, they have quite literally blown us away with their new track, ‘We Are All Stars’.

To help you get used to the transition, the guys have put together a playlist. It fuses indie/electronica/dance into one delicious pot.

GusGus – Crossfade (Maceo Plex Remix)
This has been a huge track in our DJ sets for over 2 years now, we wish we had made it!

Moderat – Running
Big respect to our fellow Germans, Moderat are the best live electronic band in the world right now.

Royksopp – What Else Is There? – Trentemoller Remix
Mid Noughties Electro House classic. Sounding just as epically dark and dangerous today.

Mylo – Destroy Rock n Roll
A track to dance and laugh to at the same time.

RÜFÜS - Innerbloom
Kings of the Electronica new breed smashing it with a chilled masterpiece.

Foals – Late Night – Solomun Remix
Foals are an amazing Indie Rock band and with Solomon on the remix, it was always going to be good…and it is!

The Chemical Brothers – Do it Again
Probably our favourite ever band. We could have chosen loads of their tracks.

SOHN – Conrad
Downtempo brilliance. Spiritual and soulful.

The XX – Crystalised
The perfect mix of chiming guitars, indie vocals and electronic beats sensibilities.

Justice VS Simian – We Are Your Friends
Not sure any rock band has made a better rabble rousing festival anthem in recent times.

Playlist: Jason Gaffner

Jason Gaffner

Jason Gaffner

Los Angeles-based resident, Jason Gaffner, creates danceable, disco-funk tunes with highly emotional content.

His latest release is called ‘Feel Something’, and it’s written about how just one person can make you drop your barriers and learn to love again.

In a bid to get to grips with how Jason manages to balance vulnerability in his music with upbeat vibes, we asked him to put together a playlist for us comprised of his current, favourite songs.

Drona & Nanok – Horizons
I love this song because it really hooked me almost instantly with the vocal production and bass tones.

TV Noise – Think feat Jessame
Just has so much going on that I like. Great vocal production and really cool samples. Fun & funky gets me every time! haha : )

Sam Padrul – Hold On Me feat Mammals
I might me a little biased because I played all the sweet funky guitars on this track, but I think it came together wonderfully. Very good for wrapping up summer.

Jazz Morley – Take Me Down (New Immunity Remix)
Kind of has that looking off into the sunset driving down the coast vibe to it.

THANKS – Dizzy
Like Justice meets Daft Punk— what’s not to like? Will be doing some music with these guys in the future as well! : )

Ark Patrol – Trouble feat. Josh Rubin
Like when you’re wandering aimlessly through a quiet neighborhood on a summer night.

Farleon – Tell Me feat. Jason Gaffner
Yes. Shameless self promotion. But really I think this is a song that will be around for summers to come. I envision this in some sort of 2017 Ray Bans commercial with lots of beautiful beach shots.

Iman Omari – Take Away feat. Good Joon
Love that guitar line. Seriously so dope. We were in the studio trying to figure out if that was a real guitar or a synth for like 3 hrs the other day haha

Lenno – All Eyes On Us
I really don’t understand how this has only 13k plays on soundcloud. I’m perturbed by this fact haha. Anyways LOVE this track. Lenno and I are also working on some music together!

SOHN – Signal
Really this song is just fucking awesome on so many levels. Vibessss : )

Sounds like: RAC, Flight Facilities, Goldroom, NVDES, Raeko, Chromeo

Calypso – Numbered

Calypso

Calypso

This is a serious impressive debut from a female singer/producer from Tasmania called Calypso.

Of ‘Numbered’, Calypso says;

“The story behind ‘Numbered’ is quite obvious through the lyrics in the song; it’s about the struggle between two people as their love for each other is coming to an end – the painful experience of wanting to keep somebody close, but knowing that you will eventually have to let go.”

For a limited time you can also get a free download through Calypso’s Soundcloud.

Interview with Cape Lion

Cape Lion

Cape Lion

Stockholm electronic pop duo Cape Lion features vocalist/producers Carl-Johan “Oa” Sevedag and Martin Wiklund.

Some parts memorable dream pop and some parts modern deep electronica, the twosome intrigued us, so we decided to find out more…

How did you meet and why did you start making music together?

We met some years ago when we were both working as producers at this place in Stockholm. After a while we decided to sit down to write some music and we really liked what came out of it. This collaboration eventually turned into a duo called Cape Lion.

You’ve been compared to the likes of St. Lucia, Passion Pit and MGMT. How does it feel to be placed with such great company?

Those are some names we really like so it’s always great to hear our sound being compared to them! They all have that timeless yet somehow nostalgic sound that were really into.

Describe your sound in three words.

Dreamy synth party.

The video for ‘Oh Girl’ is awesome. Tell us more about the concept behind the video.

Thanks! It was filmed early morning on an outdoor rave that we went to in the woods. We tend to bring cameras with us everywhere so it was a pretty spontaneous project but the cool thing is how the tempo of ‘Oh Girl’ matched how fast people were dancing. It became kind of trippy in a way and we tried to bring out even more of that in the final version of the video.

Where do you cite your musical influences from?

You get influenced by everything around you. It could be from a great song or production that you just heard or something you’ve been listening to forever. Also, the people you hang out with will always influence you in one way or another. We feel our sound is still developing but some bands we always come back to include Empire of the Sun, MGMT and The Beach Boys.

We love new music at Indietronica. What new music are you listening to?

Currently we’re really enjoying our friend Duvchi‘s recent album release With the World, be sure to check it out!

Their 6 track ‘Corinth’ EP, including hit single ‘Called You Mine’ is available on iTunes now.

Sounds like: M83, Passion Pit, MGMT, St. Lucia, Tears for Fears, Beach Boys, Sophie B. Hawkins, Mirror Talk, Justice, Kavinsky

Neon Indian – Slumlord Rising

This is cool.

Coinciding with his release of the acclaimed new album ‘VEGA INTL. Night School’, Neon Indian has shared an epic short film ‘Slumlord Rising’. Opening with a stunning continuous four minute tracking shot, the film delves into the seedy, and sometimes blood-soaked, Los Angeles nightlife world. Night School’, featuring the voices of 15 of the album’s contributors.

The new video arrives alongside a relaunch of Neon Indian’s hotline number, which was originally introduced in August to give fans a taste of the new material. Fans who call +1-512-643-VEGA will hear a special greeting from the man himself, and be sent a preview gif of the video.

Digitalism – Wolves feat. Youngblood Hawke

Digitalism feat Youngblood Hawke

Digitalism feat Youngblood Hawke

Having hinted at a change in direction with a soundcloud-only release at the start of the year, Hamburg duo Digitalism (Jens Moelle and Ismail Tüfekçi) is finally back for our listening pleasure with ‘Wolves’; the first proper single that further underlines this new direction.

The boys spent the early part of this year in L.A., writing and producing new music, road testing new demos and trying out new ideas by going back to their roots and causing havoc amongst fans at their twice monthly East L.A. Warehouse parties.

Despite Digitalism’s European techno and EDM background, ‘Wolves’ is an upbeat and catchy track with American indie-pop vibes, courtesy of vocals from Youngblood Hawke, who focused on the classic EDM from the 70’s.

Track listing:
1. Wolves Feat. Youngblood Hawke (Radio Edit)
2. Wolves Feat. Youngblood Hawke (12” Version)
3. Wolves Feat. Youngblood Hawke (Riton Remix)
4. Wolves Feat. Youngblood Hawke (RAC Remix) – listen below
5. Wolves Feat. Youngblood Hawke (Booka Shade Remix)

The track was released on 14 July under their own Magnetism Records and a new album in 2015 is imminent.

Sounds like: RAC, Calvin Harris, Youngblood Hawke, Viceroy
