PHIL GOOD – Growing Up

PHIL GOOD

PHIL GOOD

Taking a much darker tone than ‘Sleeping In‘, Los Angeles-based PHIL GOOD shares ‘Growing Up’.

The track has a brooding pace which matches perfectly with PHIL GOOD’s sultry vocals.

Speaking on the track, he explains,

“I wanted this song to be heavier and darker than I’ve ever gone before, both musically and lyrically. I think Growing Up captures that feeling of restlessness and insanity that occurs when you’re trying to get over something or someone, but your mind and your body are fighting you back as hard as they can. I’m extremely happy with how this song turned out and I can’t wait to play it live.”

Joywave – Somebody New

Ben Khan - 1000

Ben Khan – 1000

Hailing from Rochester, NY, infectious electro-rockers Joywave give a new lease of life to the track, ‘Somebody New’, which originally appeared on the five-piece’s EP last year.

‘Somebody New’ is an adrenaline fuelled anthem with a cool video.

They worked alongside director, Keith Schofield for the video, taking on the glitchy aesthetic and skateboarding fails of the games’ star riders on their journey through the streets of LA – paying homage to the infamous action sports idol’s and the best-selling 00’s computer games ‘Skate 3′ and ‘Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater’. The single has been selected by ‘X Games’ as one of their signature songs for 2015, with the X Game team even creating their own custom version of the video.

The debut LP ‘How Do You Feel Now?’ arrives on 25 May via Cultco Music/Hollywood Records. Pre-order here.

Lina Fouro

Lina Fouro

Lina Fouro is a street smart Afghan-Canadian singer. Her super catchy track, ‘Bang Bang Baby’ is expected to be on her upcoming album ‘The Love Cycle’, which explores the highs and lows of love.

‘Bang Bang Baby’ sounds like it has been produced in Ibiza, but don’t be fooled into thinking this is just another Balearic-sounding summer hit from an artist across the pond because 1 minute in, ‘Bang Bang Baby’ is flipped on its head and turns into a molten of dubstep inspired bass.

KYLIAN

KYLIAN

Violin-trained Emily Holden (aka KYLIAN) has impressed us with her classical twist on electronica. Her first ballad is subtle, yet it gives us a snippet of what is to come from the singer. The primitive synths and towering drums definitely intrigue us.

HAERTS – All The Days

HAERTS

HAERTS

HAERTS is a band from New York hailing from Germany, England, and the US. The group consist of Nini Fabi, Ben Gebert, Garrett Ienner, Derek McWilliams, and Jonathan Schmidt.

Fabi recently described the band as being like a falcon. Their 80s inspired first single is appropriately entitled ‘Wings’.

Following on from ‘Wings’ is a more muscular, lovelorn ‘All The Days’.

The video for ‘All The Days’ leads us straight onto the dance floor to watch dancers salsa along to Fabi’s haunting vocals, as she reminisces on a lost love.

Director, Bridget Palardy and cinematographer, Todd Banhazl were recruited by Aritzia Magazine to produce the vignette, which was filmed in Havana-inspired nightclub La Descarga. It also features Aritzia’s new clothing line.

We’ve already posted Joywave‘s ramped up remix of ‘All The Days’ on the Indietronica Facebook and Twitter pages, but we thought we would post it again as we can’t get enough of it!

HAERTS have just commenced touring the US with Washed Out and their highly anticipated EP ‘Hemiplegia’ is out on 17 September 2013 via Colombia Records. The EP has received further international input, being produced by Jean-Philip Grobler (aka St. Lucia).

Joywave – Tongues (feat. Kopps) RAC Remix

Joywave

Joywave formed as a group of six in 2010 and cite Rochester, New York as their hometown. The ‘Tongues’ original was a shimmery indietronica gem taken from their ‘88888’ mixtape released April 15th, which is available as a free download from their website.

This remix by RAC (Remix Artist Collective) main member André Allen Anjos, gives the track a brighter, more bouncy quality. RAC concentrates on the catchy melody and clearer vocals by Joywave singer Daniel Armbruster, replacing the glockenspiel with wonky synths whilst maintaining the energising vocal riff that resonates throughout.
