Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter PHIL GOOD initially released his single ‘Do You Ever?’ in late 2019 after announcing his signing to Elektra Records.

It started as mumbles during a time when he was in a lost and stuck place. The track helped process that running away from your problems isn’t the answer.

Now to kick off 2020, he enlists Portland-based, Portuguese-American musician and record producer, André Allen Anjos (aka RAC) to up the electronic game.

Taking a much darker tone than ‘Sleeping In‘, Los Angeles-based PHIL GOOD shares ‘Growing Up’.

The track has a brooding pace which matches perfectly with PHIL GOOD’s sultry vocals.

Speaking on the track, he explains,

“I wanted this song to be heavier and darker than I’ve ever gone before, both musically and lyrically. I think Growing Up captures that feeling of restlessness and insanity that occurs when you’re trying to get over something or someone, but your mind and your body are fighting you back as hard as they can. I’m extremely happy with how this song turned out and I can’t wait to play it live.”

Stirring up trouble this time is Atlas Genius, formed of brothers Keith and Michael Jeffery.

‘Molecules’ has been taken from their album, ‘Inanimate Objects’, which was recorded in Adelaide, Australia and Studio City, CA. It was mixed by Andrew Maury in Brooklyn and Manny Marroquin in Los Angeles. It was mastered by Joe LaPorta at Sterling Sound in NYC.

Hailing from Rochester, NY, infectious electro-rockers Joywave give a new lease of life to the track, ‘Somebody New’, which originally appeared on the five-piece’s EP last year.

‘Somebody New’ is an adrenaline fuelled anthem with a cool video.

They worked alongside director, Keith Schofield for the video, taking on the glitchy aesthetic and skateboarding fails of the games’ star riders on their journey through the streets of LA – paying homage to the infamous action sports idol’s and the best-selling 00’s computer games ‘Skate 3′ and ‘Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater’. The single has been selected by ‘X Games’ as one of their signature songs for 2015, with the X Game team even creating their own custom version of the video.

The debut LP ‘How Do You Feel Now?’ arrives on 25 May via Cultco Music/Hollywood Records. Pre-order here.

Indieverse has kindly set up a mixtape of 10 hot indietronica tunes for you to listen to at your heart’s content. Here’s a lowdown on each track:

1. The Chain Gang of 1974 – ‘Miko’

The Chain Gang of 1974

The Chain Gang of 1974 is an indietronica project that is the moniker of L.A. based, multi-instrumentalist and DJ Kamtin Mohage.

His track, ‘Miko’ initially has a reflective and heartfelt melody similar to a production that would be displayed by The Postal Service, but it quickly and frantically switches up a notch with a darker and punchier beat.

His upcoming LP is due for release next year.

Lina Fouro is a street smart Afghan-Canadian singer. Her super catchy track, ‘Bang Bang Baby’ is expected to be on her upcoming album ‘The Love Cycle’, which explores the highs and lows of love.

‘Bang Bang Baby’ sounds like it has been produced in Ibiza, but don’t be fooled into thinking this is just another Balearic-sounding summer hit from an artist across the pond because 1 minute in, ‘Bang Bang Baby’ is flipped on its head and turns into a molten of dubstep inspired bass.

‘Pride’ is the first track on the The New Division‘s four-song digital EP ‘Night Escape’, which is out now on The New Division’s own label, Division 87 Records.

The track immediately engulfs us with weightless and dreamy synths. Then John Kunkel’s vocals start and we are immediately grounded. Close your eyes and imagine a love story unravel just like in an 80’s movie.

Sci-fi obsessed Johnson’s vocals are logical and delicate.
