Inhaler

Breakthrough Irish band, Inhaler share new single, ‘These Are The Days’, a widescreen indie-rock anthem led by foot tapping drums, with a bubbling bassline, and full of spirited synths as well as lifting vocal harmonies.

It’s the first new music since the release of their debut album ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This’ in July 2021, a record that went to the top of the charts in both the UK and Ireland.

Inhaler by Lewis Evans

Dublin quartet Inhaler shares their psychedelic visuals for ‘Falling In’.

A song written about the ego, the band worked with renowned filmmaker and former Jesus & Mary Chain bassist Douglas Hart (Paul Weller, The Horrors, My Bloody Valentine) and Antony Genn on the vibrant clip, which was shot entirely over Zoom with each member in isolation during the worldwide lockdown.

Gentry – Disconnected

GENTRY

Meet Gentry, an LA-based, London-bred performer, composer, and producer who creates eccentric, pop-tinged electronica inspired by a broad array of influences.

Born from performances with the Heritage Orchestra since 2013, playing the grand piano, bass, guitar and synths in their Blade Runner and Joy Division performances and keys for the recent Pete Tong worldwide shows and was invited to join Quincy Jones for his 85th birthday celebration this year at the O2, Gentry’s own production perfectly blends classical tendencies with groovy, disco-led “retroisms” and a nonconformist nod to modern dance music.

Altamina – Under The Black Sea

Altamina

Altamina was originally a side project from US-based, Francois Graham and French-Canadian, Marco Gervais of Montreal’s Surface of Atlantic, but it soon developed into a fully-fledged, international band, following the enlistment of Australian, Matt Davis on drums and French-Canadian, Roxanne Miller on bass in 2014.

Sincere lyrics touched with baritone vocals, steady drum beats, and ambient riffs make ‘Under The Black Sea’ a stand out track from an equally as impressive band.

Their album, ‘Tomorrow Morning Will Be Tonight’ is out now.

GRIP TIGHT – Never Enough

GRIP TIGHT

GRIP TIGHT is the electronic project of English producer Benjamin Gregory.

The video for ‘Never Enough’ is a smooth cinematic replica of the track. Robotic beats of 808 drum machines and the oscillations of synthesisers, with the vocals captured in the crypt of Kirche Luisenstadt, a Polish Church in Berlin.

The track – written about one night in two lovers’ lives – emerged in an apartment by a canal in Berlin’s Neukölln district – Gregory’s home for almost two years, and where he explored abandoned places for inspiration and recorded sounds to document this period of time in his life.

‘Never Enough’ is released June 24th through FEINT (cd, digital) and Musclemilk (cassette).

Drangsal is the curious, electronic German producer and “brute pop” artist, Max Gruber. Max realised he wanted to make stimulating music at the age of 14, and soon headed away from his home town of Herxheim to pursue his dream.

The video for his new single, ‘Allan Align’, stars Max himself, alongside Jenny Starring. It was written and directed by Maximilian Wiedenhofer.

Drangsal’s debut album ‘Harieschaim’ will be out on Caroline International on 22 April.

For fans of Bon Iver and Deptford Goth looking for something slightly different, meet twenty-two year old Icelandic singer/songwriter, Ásgeir (aka Ásgeir Trausti Einarsson).

Ásgeir’s debut album, ‘Dyrd í dauðathogn’ was mostly written by his 72 year old father and became so popular in his home country, 10% of the Icelandic population is estimated to own a copy.

The English-language version of the album (‘In The Silence’) was translated by John Grant.

Berlin-based Ballet School is Irish Rosie Blair on vocals/guitar, Japanese-Brazilian Michel Collet on lead guitar and Louis McGuire on drums.

Blair and Collet met two years ago in Berlin when Blair heard Collet playing his guitar in the U-bahn. Sharing their love of the Cocteau-Twins, she immediately asked him to form a band. In 2012 they began collaborating with McGuire.

A mélange of ’80s pop and R’N’B is always at the forefront of the band’s agenda.

Her last (but unreleased) track ‘Touch’ gained 3 million hits on Soundcloud.

Her music can be described as a contemporary mix of twinkling, ‘Lucky-Star’-era Madonna with the bedroom-R&B grooves of Blood Orange, filtered through a haze of Balearic synths and swirling, Warpaint-inspired guitars.

Shura has just signed to Polydor.
