Máni Orrason – Numb

Máni Orrason

Máni Orrason by Yannic Pöpperling

We are huge fans of quirky Icelandic electro-pop provacateur Máni Orrason‘s new single ‘Numb’. In fact, we are slightly obsessed with all of the visuals for his last few releases, portraying a broken yet endearing persona of desperation and a need for love.

The visuals for ‘Numb’ flashback to straying and emotional neglect, “I had this desperate need to be seen and to be comforted. I guess i was really lonely at the time”, Máni recalls.

The EP ‘BABY ANGEL’ is out now via Humming Records.

Sounds like: The 1975, Shy Luv

Charlz – Amaze Me

Charlz

Australian artist Charlz is one of our ones to watch for 2019.

Her new single ‘Amaze Me’ will do just that – it’s iridescent, addictive and evocative pop of the finest calibre – and considers Charlz’s continuing quest for her ideal relationship.

It’s not surprising that Charlz is heading to pop stardom, with her musical roots running deep – her father is a guitarist and her cousin, Brody Dalle (The Distillers) is married to rock god Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), but she’s been making her mark as an artist on her own terms from the age of 12.

The single ‘Amaze Me’ out now via Risqué Music/TMRW.

Tali – Comfortable In Another Bed

Tali

We predict that 2019 will be the year of contemporary alt-jazz tunes. Setting the year off right is Tali (aka Tali Kouchnir) and her new single, ‘Comfortable In Another Bed’.

The video has a classic chic feel and cleverly leans into nostalgic tendencies with weighty folk-pop elements. About the track, Tali explains,

“This song is about working out if you will ever be comfortable with someone – really playing with the idea that comfort is love,” explains TALI. ‘Everyone wants love, and comfort can make or break that. What I was really asking here was ‘where’s that guy who brings that comfort and makes me feel good and safe through love?'”

Sounds like: Birdy, Jesse Ware, Emma McGrath

Seaker – After I’m Gone

Seaker

Seaker

Meet Seaker (aka Kiran Hungin), the latest addition to the family of home studio producers.

Her current release is called ‘After I’m Gone’. It’s a slow and sombre serenade, but there is something very special in Seaker’s voice that invites us to listen to more.

Seaker says of the track;

“Inspiration for the song didn’t come so much from a particular event in time, but more a deep rooted feeling that you carry in your bones. Having to let go of something that is such a deep part of you, as ultimately it isn’t right. It is about pain and longing and having to feel shit in the short term to feel better in the long. Recent world events have left me with a wave of darkness which has also leaked in to this track, as I felt totally helpless when writing it.”

Sounds like: Jesse Ware, Delaire, Leena Ojala, Monogem, Trace
