Gavin Haley – Self Control Feat. Izzy Bizu

Gavin Haley

Cheeky Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Gavin Haley has just released his vulnerable new EP, ‘Unfolding’.

Presented as an irresistible alternative pop sound with a hip-hop undercurrent offset by acoustic guitar and confessional lyrics, his feel-good music is both modern and connective.

Unfolding “a series of growing pains through music“, it’s a complex juxtaposition of actions and feelings, as Haley explains in more detail,

“I grew up in church, but I also raced bikes and listened to rap music when I could hide it from my family. I feel like I brought elements to this music from every area I’ve drawn inspiration from, but still staying me. Each song is its own story, and I hope this project connects with the people who find it and brings us closer. I wrote Unfolding almost entirely in a few days.”

The track ‘Self Control’ features Izzy Bizu and you can watch the video below:

The new EP is out now on Red Bull Records.

Sounds like: Easy Life, Shawn Mendes, Gareth Pugh, Jack Hawitt

Written in the aftermath of an exhausting fall-out that left her feeling drained, ‘Faded’ marks a strong new return for the acclaimed British singer.

Lashings of sway-inducing licks and subtle disco-pop, Izzy says of the song,

“It’s one of those weird feelings; when you’re with them you feel faded but when you’re without them you feel faded in another way; and you can’t decide if you want them in or out of your life.”

Izzy Bizu

Izzy Bizu

Gentlemen duo, HONNE, have teamed up with fellow UK artist, 22 year old, Izzy Bizu.

They met over Twitter, and decided to write ‘Someone That Loves You’, a simmering cut of electro soul.

Izzy says of the song, “it’s a song all about how we want what we can’t have and how the grass is always greener”. Driven by the rich, affecting mix of male/female vocals, ‘Someone That Loves You’ is likewise described by HONNE as a song “fundamentally about forbidden love, but from both sides of the story.”
