X&Y – Rocket Science

X&Y

X&Y

X&Y is Ben (21, keyboard and vocals), Ash (22, guitar) and Rhys (21, drums) from London, Brighton and Wales (in no particular order).

The trio has been busy in the studio with music royalty; Toby Gad (Beyonce, John Legend, Madonna), Josh Record, Johnny Coffer (Emeli Sande, Gorgon City), Nexus (Lana Del Rey, Hurts), and Until The Ribbon Breaks.

New track ‘Rocket Science’ is a type of pop the radio stations and TV channels have been missing of late. Real, ballad-infused, indie pop.

Have a listen.

Sounds like: Temple Trap, Tove Lo, Cloud Fighter, Emeli Sande, Elle Eyre, Hurts, Until The Ribbon Breaks, John Legend, Josh Record, James Bay

Day Wave – Nothing At All

Day Wave

Day Wave

Day Wave is the one-man recording project of 25-year-old Oakland based Jackson Phillips and one half of synth-pop duo Carousel.

The catchy indie pop debut track ‘Nothing At All’ is a confident undertaking from Phillips, who has yet to play a live show. Dreamy-lo-fi instrumentation and an upbeat arrangement decorated in contrasting self deprecating lyrics.

This will be first track taken from Phillips’s debut EP, set for release early next year.

Sounds like: Washed Out, Jagwar Ma, Night Drive, Carousel, Caribou, ROOSEVELT, Yellerkin

LANY – Made In Hollywood

Lany - Made in Hollywood

Lany – Made in Hollywood

LANY is a synth pop band from Nashville.

Following on from the release of the ‘Acronyms EP’ and the success of their last track, ‘ILYSB’ being number one on Hype Machine, is the just-as-catchy ‘Made in Hollywood’.

Similar to previous tracks, the lyrics for ‘Made in Hollywood’ are what dream-ridden 80’s American films are made of. This is hazy indie pop at its best.

‘Made in Hollywood’ was self released on 2 September 2014 and can be purchased on iTunes here.

We’ve also included the cheeky Ferdinand Weber remix of ‘ILYSB’ below.

Sounds like: Crozet, Pistol Shrimp, Brotherun, Goldroom, Scavenger Hunt, Still Corners, Paperwhite, Pawws, Sykes, Washed Out, New Navy, X Priest X, Roosevelt

Sir Sly – You Haunt Me

Sir Sly - You Haunt Me

Sir Sly – You Haunt Me

From the first listen to ‘Ghost’, we have been obsessed with Los Angeles trio, Sir Sly.

We are super excited to announce that ‘You Haunt Me’ is the first single to be released from the upcoming debut album with the same title.

The video is crisp and simple, like the basis of the track which is about recovering from a lost love. Despite its poppy sound, the lyrics are understandably melancholic. A true indie love song.

The album will be released via Cherrytree / Interscope Records on 16 September. If you pre-order on iTunes now, you will instantly receive 5 free tracks.

Sounds like: Wolf Gang, Pistol Shrimp, All We Are, Brotherun, Gypsy & The Cat, Jagwar Ma, St. Lucia, The 1975

New Navy – Heaven

New Navy

New Navy

Indietronica are big fans of Australian indie group New Navy.

They have finally released some new material and we are excited to share it with you now!

New track ‘Heaven’ was written at a lakeside cottage on the South Coast of New South Wales and showcases singer O’Loughlin’s smooth tones.

The track still has snippets of the band’s favourite tropical synths and dreamy riffs, but it is more than usually mellow.

The effortlessly romantic video follows a couple in a roller disco dream.

‘Heaven’ is the first single taken from the upcoming EP. Purchase the single on iTunes via themusicconnection.

Whilst we have your attention, you may as well listen to ‘Zimbabwe’ because its a killer track.

Sounds like: The Foals, The Whitest Boy Alive, Phoenix, Cold War Kids, The Klaxons, The Editors, I Know Leopard
