Indiana – Only The Lonely

Indiana - Only The Lonely

Indiana – Only The Lonely

We love Indiana‘s music videos and the new one for ‘Only The Lonely’ is no exception.

Expanding on the water/pool theme of the artwork from her new album, the De La Muerte-directed video follows Indiana swimming around a pool covered in glitter.

‘Only The Lonely’ is the latest single from Indiana’s forthcoming debut album ‘No Romeo’ that is released on 26 January 2015 via Epic. The single has a release date of 19 January 2015.

Sounds like: Banks, Little Boots, Robyn, La Roux, Goldfrapp, Kyla La Grange

Ji Nilsson – Encore

Ji Nilsson - Encore

Ji Nilsson – Encore

The Swedish singer/songwriter Ji Nilsson is back with the self-produced ‘Encore’.

From the instant you play ‘Encore’, you drift away to a sunnier setting, however it’s not all white sandy beaches and cocktails as Nilsson sings about the possible end of a holiday romance.

Just like her last track ‘Heartbreakfree’, the steady beat remains simple whilst the crux of the track is the emotive lyrics.

Sounds like: Noosa, Keljet, Marlene, Indiana, Brick & Lace, Robyn

Prinze George - Don't Speak To Me

Prinze George – Don’t Speak To Me

The Brooklyn band is back. This time Prinze George treats us with one of their strongest tracks yet.

‘Don’t Speak To Me’ is a type of electronic acoustic we have not really heard much of before and we love the combination.

Sounds like: Kyla la Grange, Banks, MS MR, Indiana, X Priest X

Ji Nilsson – Heartbreakfree

Ji Nilsson

Ji Nilsson

We freely admit that we are a bit late on this one.

Swedish Ji Nilsson released ‘Heartbreakfree’ back in April but it wasn’t until now that we found about her via the recent Keljet remix of the track.

The track is about slamming on the breaks in a relationship before it goes past the friendship stage; remaining heartbreak free. Pretty wise if you ask us!

And here’s the awesome Keljet remix of the track:

Sounds like: Noosa, Keljet, Marlene, Indiana, Brick & Lace, Robyn

Evvy – Collide

Evvy

Evvy

Evvy is a popstar in the making from NYC. Creating luscious piano chords with heart-wrentching vocal melodies, this is emotional pop at its finest. ‘Collide’ was produced by Mickey Valen (Noosa & AYER), who recently teamed up with Chris Wallitsch to form the production duo ‘Mickey Valen & The King’.

Whilst still a fairly new kid on the block, Evvy has all the ingredients to rise quickly and over at Indietronica HQ, we are excited to hear more over the coming months!

Also check out this summery remix from Keljet

Indiana – Heart on Fire

Indiana

Indiana

Nottingham songstress Indiana is back with a video for her new track, ‘Heart on Fire’. The video follows Indiana on a drug bust as a private detective, but we suspect there may be a little more than a bit of police activity going on between her and one of the two guys…

‘Heart on Fire’ is taken from her forthcoming 13 track debut album ‘No Romeo’ that will be released on 1 September 2014 on Epic.

Sounds like: Banks, Little Boots, Robyn, La Roux, Goldfrapp, Kyla La Grange

Sasha Keable – Sweetest Talk

Sasha Keable

Sasha Keable

You may recognise Sasha Keable‘s vocals from ‘Voices’ by Disclosure. She is now releasing her own material and it is good.

‘Sweetest Talk’ is the soulful third track on her second EP ‘Lemongrass and Limeleaves’. Uncomplicated, it is full of mellow 80’s vibes and R&B beats. Keable is definitely one to watch.

‘Lemongrass and Limeleaves’ is out now on Polydor Records and can be downloaded for free here.

Sounds like: La Roux, BLSHS, Disclosure, Indiana, Iggy Azalea, Katy B, Disclosure, Chromeo, Jesse Ware

Kitten – Like A Stranger

KITTEN

KITTEN

There is some good music coming out of Los Angeles at the moment.

Glittering pop band KITTEN are planning on releasing their debut, self-entitled album this coming June and we thought we’d write a cheeky post about the leading track off the album called ‘Like A Stranger’.

There is no doubting that the post punk inspired video showcases front woman Chloe Chaidez’s oozing sex appeal, but it rightfully doesn’t distract from the track itself; full of 80’s sounding heavy synths with a rocky edge and catchy lyrics.

Pre-order KITTEN’s debut, self-entitled album on iTunes now.

Sounds like: Ronika, Indiana, Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, Ballet School, Lights, La Roux, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, The Cure

La Roux – Let Me Down Gently

La Roux

La Roux

La Roux (aka Elly Jackson) is back after a rebirth into a darker synth pop.

This is a proper 80’s ballad, complete with lamenting lyrics but an optimistic beat. We especially love the mid-track break, where La Roux composes herself and the guitar kicks in.

La Roux worked with producer, Ian Sherwin, for her album ‘Trouble in Paradise’, which is out on 22 July on Polydor and available for pre-order on iTunes. The album is also available for stream on iTunes Radio.

Sounds like: Stevie Nicks, Ronika, Madonna, Ellie Goulding, Yelle, BLSHS, Indiana

PHANTOGRAM

Phantogram

Indietronica wrote about ‘Fall in Love’ by duo Phantogram back in December.

‘Fall in Love’ is a powerful, heavy, track, with bass-driven pulsating sounds, and crunching synths reminiscent of Sleigh Bells. The drums are at times heading down a hip-hop route, all while Sarah Barthel’s vocals drive the melody, pulling the layered sounds together in this really cool track.

Ghost Beach

Ghost Beach

We love a bit of tropitronica at Indietronica and Josh and Eric of NY-based synth pop duo Ghost Beach are no exception. Combing 80’s synth pop and 70’s disco vibes to create ultimate feel good tracks.

We aren’t expecting a visit from Noosa to this year’s TGE, but ‘Close Enough’ is just so catchy, it had to be included.

KIESZA

Kiesza

Kiesza

Shortly before the garage trend of the late 90s, the UK’s vice was house (acid house, deep house…you name it the UK loved it).

BALLET SCHOOL

Ballet School

Ballet School

Berlin-based Ballet School is Irish Rosie Blair on vocals/guitar, Japanese-Brazilian Michel Collet on lead guitar and Louis McGuire on drums.

Blair and Collet met two years ago in Berlin when Blair heard Collet playing his guitar in the U-bahn. Sharing their love of the Cocteau-Twins, she immediately asked him to form a band. In 2012 they began collaborating with McGuire.

With a mélange of 80’s pop and R’N’B at the forefront of the band’s agenda, their tracks provide a meditative driving beat of pop at it’s best and showcases both Irish and Japanese influences.
