Hotel Garuda – Dancing On The Moon feat. Lemaitre

Hotel Garuda - Dancing On The Moon feat. Lemaitre

Rising Los Angeles DJ/producer duo Hotel Garuda take a slightly more commercial direction with their nu-disco led single, ‘Dancing On The Moon’ featuring Oslo-bred electro-pop duo Lemaitre.

The single has surprisingly been two years in the making with all parties being heavily involved in the process – Hotel Garuda adding their classic dance flair stamp, and Lemaitre providing the funk.

It’s out on Mom+Pop.

Premiere: Adam Jensen – DRUGS

Adam Jensen

Adam Jensen

Adam Jensen has many stories to tell about bar brawls, stabbings, guns and gangsters in his home city of Boston, but music has literally saved his life, having always being a central part of him from the age of nine, when he started playing piano.

Turning the negative into a positive has helped Adam get through some tough times, which probably explains the upbeat tone of his darkly-written songs.

His new single ‘DRUGS’ is not necessarily about drugs per se, but still shows signs of an addiction. We suspect it involves a girl.

Have a listen below, and we guarantee your heads will be bopping throughout.

Soleima – Wasted

Soleima

Soleima

It’s Monday morning and some of you may still be wasted from the weekend’s antics, or even contemplating how the weekend was wasted.

One woman heavily discussing the wasted topic is Copenhagen-based singer Soleima (aka Sarah Mariegaard, formerly of Danish hip-hop outfit Flødeklinikken).

“Off-sounding” writings merged between electronic pop and hip-hop, luxurious synth arrangeents and majestic instrumental touches, ‘Wasted’ is a summery track. Production is courtesy of Vera (Liss, )

Previously living in Tanzania for a portion of her life, some of the vocal melody structures could arguably be inspired by the Sukumaland song tradition, the specific region in Tanzania where Sarah lived.

According to Soleima, “…the song is about allowing yourself to run away from a crazy and awful world. Using a disguise and forgetting everything for a moment. But also it is a song about having blinders on. Not recognising, or choosing to forget – that we are living in a fucked-up world.”

“To me the term “wasted” gets double sided in this song,” Soleima explains. “The obvious meaning is of cause being drunk/high and therefore unable to process thoughts and logic. The other way to look at it, is that some people, like myself, are able to lead a certain kind of life whereas many don’t have the same possibilities as me – and sometimes that chance can be wasted.”
