M83 – Go! feat Mai Lan

M83 (aka Anthony Gonzalez) makes a huge return with ‘Go!’, another track taken from his ‘JUNK’ album, out today via Naive.

Taking more of a Mark Ronson spin on things, ‘Go!’ is an exultant synth pop charmer that features lead vocals from French chanteuse Mai Lan, and a funky guitar solo by virtuoso Steve Vai.

Gonzalez describes the collaboration with Vai: “We asked for the craziest space solo possible, which wasn’t hard for him. He sent us three different takes, and we blended two to make the ultimate Steve Vai solo. It was amazing to work with him.”

An amalgamation of sounds, M83 is once again one step ahead on all levels of music innovation.

Exclusive: Lovespeake Playlist

Lovespeake by Olav Stubberud

Lovespeake by Olav Stubberud

We are proud to have one of Norway’s hottest exports right now, prepare a lovely playlist for all our Indietronica readers.

Ladies and gentlemen, we present Lovespeake‘s springtime playlist below:

Tycho – Montana
One of my favourite tracks to listen to while on the road touring, looking out the window and just losing myself to the soundscapes. I love everything Scott does.

Anderson Paak – Am I Wrong
This guy is such a talent. The whole album “Malibu” is a rare breed of excellence – the lyrics, production and the musicality of it all is just stunning. It doesn’t hurt having Schoolboy Q and Pomo on this banger either! Such a groover.

Housse de Racket – Roman
I remember listening to this song loads when we toured Germany back in 2012. It reminds me of sweaty nights in smoke-filled indie-bars in Hamburg and Berlin, being stuck in a mass of people going nuts to the music! The Germans can party…

Mutemath – Vitals
I was such a huge fan of Mutemath’s first record back in high school. It was one of those “holy shit” moments when I really got interested in production and layers of details that unraveled after each listen. Their songs are always so crisp, tight & punchy. They also have some great instrumentals, like “Vitals” here.

Alpine – Foolish
I got hooked on Alpine after their hit “Gasoline” a few years back. Their album “Yuck” from last year was very tasty. Such slick and clever pop tunes.

Lovespeake’s latest release ‘Tightrope’ is out today, and has been taken from the upcoming album called ‘DNA’, which is out 22nd April via Toothfairy.

Sounds like: Harts, Tame Impala, The Levity, Arcade Fire, Goldfrapp, MGMT, CHAPPO, The Flaming Lips, Carl Louis, Karl Kling

‘Colder’ is the latest track to surface from CHINAH’s long awaited debut EP, ‘Once The Lights Are On’, which is released on 11 February through No 3 Records.

Fickle Friends – Say No More

It’s increasingly tough for an artist to distinguish themselves in the music industry, but Fickle Friends have done just that. Every track by Fickle Friends is instantly recognisable, yet they stand out from the crowd.

The Brighton five-piece have released a simple, but stylish video for ‘Say No More’.

It’s a beautifully crafted pop track. Need we say anymore?

The 1975 – Love Me

The 1975

The 1975

Our favourite guilty pleasures, The 1975, have cranked it up a notch with 80’s funk tune ‘Love Me’.

Remaining pretty illusive about their new releases, we are excited to finally watch the video for the new track.

From black and white into a tint of pink, this is definitely a satirical pop video with frontman Matt Healy speaking out about how he really feels on things.

Chinah – We Go Back

Chinah is Fine, Simon & Simon from Denmark and they return with their sophomore track, ‘We Go Back’.

Recording music in their bedrooms in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, ‘We Go Back’ was written as a tribute to the sometimes overwhelming power of the senses.

This track, itself, is pretty powerful, especially the guitar finale.

Listen below:

‘We Go Back’ is available via their No.3 label.

Xan Young – Passion

Xan Young

Xan Young

There is a new kid joining the electro-soul world, and he’s one that we are particularly excited about.

Xan Young, with similarities to Ben Khan, releases his debut track ‘Passion’. It is built on quivering synths and obscure percussion…and the simplicity is beautiful.

We expect his debut record, ‘The Flood’, to be released in August via Astro Nautico.

Sounds like: Ben Khan, Years & Years, Leo Kalyan, Twin Shadow, Jai Paul, JUNGLE, Disclosure, Prince, Blood Orange, Harts, Oyinda, Shy Girls, Harriet

Sillyboy – On and On

“Who is Sillyboy and when do I get to meet him?” will be the first words coming from your mouth when you watch the video for ‘On and On’.

We have limited information on Sillyboy, only that he lives in an old detached house in a working-class suburb of Athens next to the national railway and it is this urban landscape that feeds the aesthetic of his music.

With a mysterious and effortlessly cool video to coincide with the funky, bass-driven track, we can’t wait to find out more about the talent that is Sillyboy.

The track has been taken from his latest album, ‘Stalker’ which is currently available for streaming on Soundcloud.

Sounds like: Jack White, Ben Khan, Harts
