Victoria’s Flight – Love Will Come Back

Victoria's Flight

Glasgow band Victoria’s Flight shares new single ‘Love Will Come Back’, the third in a trilogy of singles that together tell the story of a summer of love and loss.

An accidental song that took very little time to create, it’s got a bittersweet attitude and once again showcases the band’s ability to write rich and memorable melodies.

We can’t wait to see what else is to come…

Sounds like: Sea Girls, Blossoms, Biffy Clyro

LOVE SICK – Predictable

LOVE SICK

We are quite frankly obsessed with LOVE SICK, especially their latest and greatest release, ‘Predictable’, which is anything but.

LOVE SICK is the dark and mysteriously infectious pop project of Glaswegian Shaun and Julie.

Taken from their four-track ‘No Sleep’ EP, ‘Predictable’ is 1/4 snapshot of where they are today, following endless sleepless nights writing the EP culminating in a sweet exhaustion of creativity.

The ‘No Sleep’ EP is out now via B3SCI Records/Aesop.

Our ones to watch for 2019.

Sounds like: ASTR, Dagny, COSBY

The Lapelles – Grab Life By

The Lapelles

The Lapelles

We’ve just been transported back to the early noughties with this new video for ‘Grab Life By’ by The Lapelles.

It’s very early years for the Glaswegians in respect of their music and their ages (they are only 19 years old), but the foursome are set to support The Last Shadow Puppets on tour, and we do know that they have something very special.

We can’t wait to hear some more.

Sounds like: The Strokes, The Libertines, The Last Shadow Puppets, The Kooks, The Vaccines, Palma Violets

Smash Williams – Astronaut

Smash Williams

Smash Williams

Music is in the blood of Glaswegian Smash Williams; a brand new project from Gordon Skene (Frightened Rabbit) and Stuart Dougan (French Wives).

Smash Williams is reasonably new onto the music scene, yet the duo have been received praise from some top dogs in the industry. Their latest track ‘Astronaut’ has heartfelt vocals synonymous with their former music lives, but the “folkness” seems to have diminished, and replaced with a happier prowess.

Smash Williams will be making their live debut tomorrow night for Line of Best Fit’s Five Day Forecast at London’s Lexington.

Sounds like: Editors, White Lies, Interpol, Maxïmo Park, BLØSH, Spector

KLOE – Touch

KLOE by Alena Jascanka

KLOE by Alena Jascanka

Glaswegian KLOE has been making waves in Scotland and beyond.

Her latest track ‘Touch’ has been produced by Lewis Gardiner of Scottish band Prides, and emulates modern youth, providing an honest insight into KLOE and the teenage generation of today. It features KLOE’s signature whispered vocals lined up over bass-laden synths.

KLOE said, “I’m so excited to finally be releasing new music. Touch is the last piece of the puzzle to my little trilogy – which began last December with Grip. The track is about a guy who introduced me to a lot of vice and made me grow up a lot. This song marks the end of an era – and also the beginning of what’s to come.”

Watch her teenage dream inspired video below.

‘Touch’ has been released through Columbia / IAMSOUND / National Anthem.

Sounds like: Lana Del Rey, Evvy, CAPPA, Chelsea Lankes, Kyla La Grange, Indiana, Leena Ojala, St. Vincent, The Weeknd, Drake, Justin Bieber

TONGUES – Religion

Tongues

Tongues

Tongues is the budding electronic artist out of Glasgow, Scotland.

On first listen of his new track, ‘Religion’, it sounds quite isolated, but after the second listen, it’s clear that Tongues has well layered and executed storming synthetic pop, full of driving rhythm and modulated vocals.

The track is a taste of his fantastic debut EP, due September.

Sounds like: alt-J, Ben Khan, David Bowie, Hozier, Brolin, Everything Everything, Kavinsky

CHVRCHES – Leave A Trace

CHVRCHES - Leave A Trace

CHVRCHES – Leave A Trace

The Scottish synth masters are back!

CHVRCHES return after a nine month break with a new gem, ‘Leave A Trace’.

Staying true to what made them such a successful trio in the first place, ‘Leave A Trace’ has strong repetitive vocals (courtesy of Lauren Mayberry, who really has a knack of getting her point across), crammed in over unique luscious sounds.

It’s fair to say that CHVRCHES will be leaving some serious musical traces, once again.

And check out the luscious Goldroom remix (added 17 Dec).

Sounds like: Kate Boy, Avec Sans, Purity Ring, Vogue Dots, R.A.B.B.I.I., Kaleida, Gems, IYES, For Esmé, ALMA, Pale Hands, Acre Tarn, Prinze George, Leitbur, Monogem, PALMEDO, NONONO, Still Corners, MUNA

Premiere: Bec – In The Fog, In The Flame

Bec by Sam Brumby

Bec by Sam Brumby

Bec (aka Bec Sandridge) is an emerging Glaswegian singer/songwriter, who is currently residing in Sydney.

Her new single, ‘In The Fog, In The Flame’, has been produced by Tony Buchen.

It starts off with gray bass lines and sultry vocals, instantly showcasing Bec’s Glaswegian roots. The track takes a turn shortly after commencement with a juxtaposing influx of uplifting and blazing synths. Two sounds that we wouldn’t normally match together…but it works.

Let’s hope we catch Bec supporting a band like The Maccabees very soon.

The single is released today.

Sounds like: The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Maccabees, London Grammar, Foals
