CHAPPO by Denny Renshaw

CHAPPO by Denny Renshaw

NYC indie rockers, CHAPPO make a brief return from outer of space to share with us the delightful video for their last single release, called ‘Mad Magic’.

The video has been directed and produced by Natalie Cleveland and features the three CHAPPO Sirens, Nicole Salm, Caitlin McKenna and Rawan Rihan.

CHAPPO explain of the video;

“The Mad Magic video was a collaboration with director Natalie Cleveland, whose prism photography was inspiration into the parallel universe of Future Former Self, playing with light auras and refraction she introduces three women as one who radiates across time and dances through alternate dimensions.”

Exclusive: CHAPPO – EPISODE V: The Electric Interdimensional Origami Acid Trip

CHAPPO

CHAPPO

We don’t usually condone acid trips, but we had to give this one a go in an Indietronica exclusive. It’s ‘EPISODE V: The Electric Interdimensional Origami Acid Trip’ of CHAPPO‘s stop animation series called The Singularity, in which Rene Cogito journeys to the blackhole in a bid to save mankind. The whole series has been created by CHAPPO’s frontman, Alex Chappo.

In this episode the Commander tries to console Rene by telling him a story about a 2D creature who can only see “left” and “right” but has no concept of “up” or “down.”

If you don’t much about CHAPPO, they are a quirky indie band from NYC, and there is a great story behind the band’s releases, past and present, and all of which centre around the main character, Rene Cogito.

Like Rene, the band seems to have recently travelled back from a distant black hole, bringing with them a kaleidoscope of new and mesmerising sounds.

Their latest single release is ‘Mad Magic’, and it is written about a trip into the transparency of time as darkness surrounds Rene’s field of vision.

Disclosure: I am CHAPPO’s publicist at the time of writing.

This is a psychedelic band, through and through.

Watch previous episodes and find out more about ‘The Singularity’ by heading over to CHAPPO’s awesome site.

‘Mad Magic’ is the second single released from their second album ‘Future Former Self’, which is due out now via Caroline International and available to purchase on iTunes or their digital store.

CHAPPO – Hang On

CHAPPO

CHAPPO

We are not sure why, but it has taken NYC psychedelic, indie boys CHAPPO quite some time to get themselves over to the UK. Perhaps because they love touring so much.

Anyway, their latest single ‘Hang On’ was released in the US some time a go, and it’s due for release in the UK on 23 November via Caroline International.

We love frontman Alex Chappo’s deep vocals set against a subtly epic chorus. This is definitely a slow burner, but one that is worth listening to a few times to appreciate its validity as a cracking indie tune.

The video follows a crashed space traveller from another time (played by Alex Chappo) who spends his last hours wandering New York City among its millions of inhabitants. Stranded and mystified, he feels the magnitude of loneliness and awe as he searches for a place to expire.

Disclosure: I am CHAPPO’s publicist at the time of writing.

It’s the first release from their forthcoming second album ‘Future Former Self’, which is due out on 22 January 2016, and will coincide with a UK tour.
