Rebellious band geeks, French Horn Rebellion shares new single ‘Renaissance Man’.
A combination of French horn played “really really loud” and laid back groovy beats, these two brothers – aka Brooklyn-based Robert and David Perlick-Molinari – know how to make you dance.
Since its inception, French Horn Rebellion has been an independent project, and the brothers now also co-own their very own label and studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn – YouTooCanWoo. The studio has been responsible for producing musical artists such as MGMT and The Knocks, while also creating the audio identities for companies like Spotify, MTV and LOGO.
The track is taken from their ‘Graduation Compilation,’ an album comprised of past hits and new tracks, signaling the end of an era as they launch their new disco/house/dance label imprint, toucan sounds.

We are extremely excited about the first of this week’s gems! The Icelandic “cowboy baby angel” Máni Orasson returns with a reflective video about love in ‘I Swear It’s True’.
The visuals typify the hardships Orrason bravely struggles – agonizing fears for the future, unfulfilled longings, obstacles that life throws in the way of those in love – all within a beautiful, glitter-filled backdrop.
Australian singer/songwriter Harry Nathan releases his new single, ‘Sweet Vanilla Sky’.
Created following a break-up, the bohemian dream-pop song has bittersweet energy, which effortlessly resides between the lines of reality and fantasy, as Nathan explores love, loss, longing and remembrance.
23-year-old Brit Dan Crossley shares his new video for ‘Mind Games’.
The visuals have a deeply-seated sexual undercurrent throughout, and feature a battered and bruised Crossley in an abandoned warehouse, fuelled up by an angry passion towards an ex-lover.

It’s rare to get a warm euphoric feeling that can instantly take over the body, but ‘Tides’ does just that. Boi has achieved the ability to make the whole room dance with his playful machine beats, as well as offering a shoulder to cry on.

French Horn Rebellion – Rooftops Feat. Natalie Duffy
Brooklyn brothers Robert and David Perlick-Molinari, aka French Horn Rebellion, ask us to meet them on the ‘Rooftops’ in their new single, which also features the delicate vocals of Natalie Duffy.
The boys maybe harnessing down the electro funk on this one, but it doesn’t mean ‘Rooftops’ lacks energy, quite the opposite. Take a listen below.

Melbourne-based folktronica artist BATTS returns with her beautiful new single ‘Somedays’.
Using space as a reference (specifically the NASA recording of Saturn’s rings), ‘Somedays’ showcases BATTS’ knack of creating psych-tinged pop that is extremely grounding, but also feels otherworldly at the same time.
Expect her mesmerising and melancholic debut EP ’62 Moons’, to be released through the newly announced THAA Records.

Quirky songstress Jinka shares the ‘Shock Mounted’.
The surrealist video, directed by Ossian Melin (Yung Lean, Little Dragon), features Jinka reading Swedish porn magazines and microwaving sushi. As you do.
Following on from the brilliant ‘Colors‘, Finnish trio Lake Jons release ‘Call Me’.
Once again ethereal vocals clash and blend with tinny drums. We can’t help but think severe isolation in the woods is the way forward – it really does produce inspirational music!
Expect their forthcoming self-titled debut album to come out on 19 January through AntiFragile Music.

Wow, ‘You’ is some serious spine tingling stuff from Dream Estate, an exciting ambient pop outfit on the scene.
The band was originally founded by William Tse in 2015, but later was joined by Dan Hvorostovsky (bass, backing vocals), Dan Noble (lead guitar, backings vocals), and Joe Dawson (drums) in 2017. Since then, the band have been working alongside producer Sam Winfield (Fickle Friends, Pixel Fix, Amber Run, Motherhood).
Every now and then our posts border into the tech side of electronic music.
One such track that we are currently fans of is ‘Wired’ by Swiss producer, Pablo Nouvelle – the title track from his forthcoming album, which features the soulful vocal tones of Lulu James.
‘Wired’ immediately sucks you in upon first listen. It’s a moody journey that is led by a continual melody with elegant strings and club-enthralling production.

Eric Sharp is channelling RÜFÜS and Flight Facilities vibes in his new single ‘Too Much’.
The song is about falling for someone during the first time you meet and harnessing those intense feelings to stop yourself going in too strong. It has a catchy horn hook and looping analogue melodies, courtesy of French Horn Rebellion and Drew Kramer (Wild & Free).
This is the second single from his forthcoming EP ‘Eric Sharp & Friends’, which is due for release in January 2018 via Little Assembly.

Simply Red is my favourite band ever. I was listening to his Stars Deluxe album on the plane, and it had these amazing acapellas of old blues songs on the end that I’d never heard. Decided to make a bootleg with one of them.

I was super drunk one night on the night tube in London and had a part of this vocal in my head but had NO idea what the words or song was. So I was just singing it to strangers untill someone told me what they thought it might be … Next day I found the stems and made a bootleg.
Gorillaz – Feel Good and Michael Jackson – Billie Jean
Because it’s the greatest beat in pop, and one of the greatest basslines in pop. It was almost too obvious, I had to check if someone had done it before!
Jungle – The Heat
Always liked Jungle‘s vibe. Actually did a remix with an old band I was in that never turned into anything, so revisited the vocal and made a new mix!
Zhu – Faded
Again, dope vocal. Remember the first time I heard it. Instantly wanted to do my own thing with it.
Daft Punk – One More Time
What an amazing message. And the fact it just repeats it’s self so many times. It’s brilliant.

Cause he’s a UK legend! Grew up with his music. And his vocal style suited mine, so it worked really easily for me.
The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition
I had made a bootleg with a Marvin Gaye sample, and the guitar line I wrote kept reminding me of The Temper Trap song (which I also fucking loved) .. decided last minute to put The Temper Trap vocal over Marvin Gaye and it instantly found its magic.
All Saints – Pure Shores
Pure shores was one of the first CDs I ever bought. Bought it from Woolworths in Manchester and it cost £6.99! I was trying to write a dance song in 3/4 and the chords I was using gave me the same emotion that lure shores did.
It turns out Secret Weapons have been keeping a few things from us, the unfortunate news of lead singer Gerry Lange being ill. Whilst touring with bands like Weezer and Panic! at the Disco, the band kept Gerry’s health struggles quiet and as Danny Rocco says “strangely, the album became about making the album.”
Their latest single ‘My Blue Heaven’ embodies that very struggle.

Paris and Simo – Come As You Are Feat. Karen Harding
Canadian electronic dance duo Paris and Simo have teamed up with Karen Harding for ‘Come As You Are’.
The ultra-positive dance-tinged anthem is grounded in the belief that “everyone should have freedom of expression without being judged”, according to Paris & Simo.

A collaborative album sounds exciting to us, especially when it’s written and produced by rising singer/songwriter/producer NOVAA and UK bedroom producer LO.
‘Go There’ is the third single from their ‘LIGHTS’ album, and “is about empty promises and letting go of someone that doesn’t really want you. It’s the moment you realize that you’re put on hold and that it’s not a romance but a game. The bubble you lived in pops and you find yourself playing a role and being someone that you don’t want to be.”
The album is out now on 29 September via Majestic Casual.
It’s been a while since we’ve written about some Los Angeles-based nu-disco.
Born from Echo Park, isle&fever are a duo who have a pretty simple way of recording music – “pass around vintage instruments and the mic until a vibe catches. Rinse, Repeat.” – and it appears this method is working as their last single reached number 1 on Hype Machine.
Their latest endeavour is called ‘Keep Working’ and it takes you on a jazz infused, sonic journey. Listen below.

We absolutely love a positive message, especially when conveyed through music, and it appears that ‘Spread Love’ by Goldroom does just that.
Goldroom has decided to release the live favourite as a single (featuring vocals by Rooty) and although it edges towards pop more than his former releases, it still offers that signature feel-good dance sound that Goldroom is renowned for.
Goldroom said of the release: “My goal for this song was to try and capture the kind of simple earnestness that a lot of early French House had, which was a major inspiration for me. Playing it on the road the last few months, the vibe in the room would just light up as audiences reacted to the energy of the song. It felt like it was the right time to release the song to the world.”
