One band pushing forward such musical euphoria to the masses is Midnight Mystery Club (aka David Paul Newell).

Playlist: Dragonette

Dragonette

Dragonette

It’s not always about the girls, but sometimes it is.

The lovely Dragonette have put together a playlist for us called “Indietronica – an indie pop girls only mix”.

Listen below!

Santigold – Can’t Get Enough Of Myself (feat. B.C)
I was told that this song was inspired by an Iranian disco song from the 80’s. I’ve been listening to a lot of world music and I love how well they mashed this up. So unique.

Lucius – Born Again Teen
I feel deeply in love with Lucius’ first record. There are so many awesome songs on this new one of theirs Good Grief. But I’m choosing “Born Again Teen” on our playlist because i think its such an strange arrangement. Where’s the chorus!? I don’t know! Who cares?

Dua Lipa – Be The One
Every time I go back to London to work with other musicians I learn about artists who are up-and-coming over there. Last time I was there it was Dua Lipa. Maybe everybody already knows her but I just discovered her and I love the vibe of this tune.

Niki & The Dove – Coconut Kisses
Niki & The Dove’s The Drummer is one of my favourite indie pop albums of all times. I’ve been waiting a long time for their follow up. It almost reminds me of Empire Of The Sun. But with Stevie Nicks‘ voice.

Christine And The Queens – iT
My friend showed me this song the other day, I don’t know anything else of theirs. It’s the beginning of a new love I suspect.

Petite Meller – Barbaric
I think she’s a style genius. We played a show with her in Florence and I drank her up like pink lemonade.

Sounds like: Niki & The Dove, Charli XCX, Gwen Stefani, Icona Pop, OH Land, Little Boots, Girl Friend

The Brocks – Going Nowhere

The Brocks

The Brocks

The Brocks are a four-piece from Provo, UT, composed of Dane Brock (lead vocals, synths) Christian Darais (drums, sequencing), Morgan Ence (guitar, sampling) and Ryan King (bass, bass synth).

Having already been placed in a series of high-profile commercial placements, The Brocks caught the eye of Kaskade, who has produced their new track ‘Going Nowhere’.

Don’t be deceived, however, this is not a EDM-heavy track, but more a far reaching indietronica number with extremely polished production.

Watch the new video below.

Sounds like: Miike Snow, Empire of the Sun, Phoenix, M83

Gypsy & The Cat – Inside Your Mind

Gypsy & The Cat

Gypsy & The Cat

Gypsy & The Cat are back and they mean business. If their new release ‘Inside Your Mind’ doesn’t tell you that, then you quite frankly don’t deserve to listen to the Australian duo.

We have the usual punchy falsettos and dreamy synths that Gypsy & The Cat have thrown our way before, but their new material has the benefit of an acoustic guitar and cultural influence from their recent travels in Japan.

‘Inside Your Mind’ has also been mixed by mixed by the legend that is Dave Fridmann (Tame Impala, MGMT, Neon Indian, The Flaming Lips).

Sounds like: Empire of The Sun, Cut Copy, Pistol Shrimp, Ghost Beach, Sir Sly, Jagwar Ma, Day Wave, Miike Snow, Bag Raiders, Small Pools, Chromeo

High Highs – How Could You Know

High Highs

High Highs

High Highs are a Sydney-based band consisiting of Jack Milas and Oli Chang.

Citing influences such as Talk Talk and Fleetwood Mac the duo create a range delicate synth soundscapes overlaid with multi layered vocal harmonies wrapped up an indie pop sensibility.

Jack Milas describes the creative process behind the track as such: “This tune was one of the first ones we wrote when we finished touring and went to the country to start writing. Its a simple song that came out really naturally. It was the song that bridged the gap between the first record and this one. Once we had How Could You Know I think we had the confidence to step further into unfamiliar territory for the rest of the record. We had a lot of fun playing this one in Oli’s living room with just a piano and 12 string guitar, and that method dictated how we wrote a lot of other songs on the album. It was important to us that they sounded great stripped right back.”

The track has been taken from their new album ‘Cascades’ which is out on 5 February 2016.

The High Highs will be touring Australia and North America early Spring 2016 with UK dates to be announced soon.

Sounds like: Gypsy & The Cat, Empire of The Sun, Cut Copy, Ghost Beach, Sir Sly, Jagwar Ma, Miike Snow, Talk Talk, Fleetwood Mac
