Harry Nathan – High

harry nathan

Over the last few months Australian artist Harry Nathan has been busy working on his next EP, and this week he’s ready to give us the first taste of that EP with new single ‘High’, which is being released via Majestic Casual Records.

Harry Nathan has been making himself known for creating smooth blends of indie-dance/pop music with catchy nu-disco sounds, ultimately creating these lush lo-fi indie-dance jams that can be likened to a mix between Classixx, Cosmo’s Midnight and Pnau.

Harry Nathan’s new single ‘High’ is a damn fine example of this; from the moment it begins Harry’s sweet serenade draws us all the way in, takes us by the hand and walks us through this captivating world of seductive beats and sexy grooves.

Speaking about it, he explains: “The song is a romanticized daydream about a girl who moved in across the hall. I was living in Los Angeles and I had just picked up a 1982 MT-45 Casiotone keyboard. I fell in love with the sound of it and it inspired me to write the song quite quickly. The majority of the drums come from Roland CR-78 and Roland 505 drum machines. Run through a series of guitar pedals, the Casio keyboard’s signal chain is visible in the song’s artwork; a photo I took on my 1982 Canon AE-1 film camera

Billy Vena – Disco Maniac

billy vena - disco maniac

Hailing from galaxies far far away, long lost dancer turned recording, artist Billy Vena returns today with ‘Disco Maniac’. Part Bee Gees’ ‘Saturday Night Fever‘ / part early 00s Neptunes productions (see JT’s Rock Your Body), ‘Disco Maniac‘, as the title suggests, is a modern disco-tinged banger. Press play…and dance 🕺🏻🔥

Speaking about it, he says: “Disco Maniac is essentially about being raised by a television and wishing to live in an era you weren’t alive to experience. It’s about dreaming of a scenario in which you can live out that certain fantasy.

Ronika – Marathon

Ronika

Nottingham songstress Ronika is back with new track ‘Marathon’ and it’s a corker!

The self-written and produced ‘Marathon’ jumps straight into Ronika’s smooth Chaka Khan reverberating vocals and has a classic disco and soulful electronic vibe to it.

The song’s lyrics refer to that rush of energy you get when falling in love, and the high you get which makes you feel like you could do anything, like running a marathon.

Ronika’s ‘Marathon’ EP is her first new material since this summer’s acclaimed ‘Selectadisc’. The EP will be released on 1 December.

If you want to catch Ronika, she will be performing on 17 October at STFD‘s ‘The Summer After Party’ in Brixton, London. See below for more info and click for link to tickets!

PWNDTIAC – Hey Girl

PWNDTIAC by Sascha Bente

PWNDTIAC by Sascha Bente

We absolutely crave the music produced by this German musketeer, PWNDTIAC. Describing himself on his facebook page as “The PWNDTIAC cruises around with heavy basslines, crispy drumsets and cheesy synths. Nothing new so far, yet there is something about it… and you won’t be able to find out until you hop on for a ride, bitch!”

And that is exactly what Indietronica has done…as have a few others including Aeroplane who has included ‘Hey Girl’ on his ‘Not-So-Monthly Mix July 2014‘.

The video follows Maike Mohr and Tessa Achtermann looking very cool dancing around a city. The track is nu-disco at it’s finest and we especially love the deep sax interlude mixed in with the early 80’s bassline.

The EP was released on 30 June via We Love This Rec and includes a just as infectious track called ‘Ready’ feat digitalfoxglove, as well as remixes by Justin Faust and Douze. You can buy the ‘Hey Girl EP’ here.

Sounds like: Ronika, Aeroplane, Prince, Harts, Blondie, Chromeo, Daft Punk, Justice, Ballet School, Bananarama
