Tei Shi – Keep Running

Tei Shi by JJ Medina

Tei Shi by JJ Medina

Tei Shi is back!

The Agostina Gálvez-directed video for ‘Keep Running’ by the Brooklyn based songstress oozes sex appeal and instantly takes us back to that Flake advert from the 80’s, but this time it’s a mic and not a chocolate bar.

Tei Shi’s debut album, ‘Crawl Space’, is out 31 March on Downtown/Interscope Records.

Sounds like: ASTR, Tinashe, Shura, Claire, Ballet School, VÉRITÉ, La Roux, Ronika, Kitten, Depeche Mode, Lykke Li, FKA Twigs, Rilo Kiley, Dominique

Playlist: Du Tonc

Du Tonc

Du Tonc

The Du Tonc disco boys have finally put together a playlist for us!

Du Tonc are still one of our favourites, which is handy as their new single, ‘Wonderland’ (which also features on the playlist), is one of their favourites too.

V – La Nouvelle Epoque
It’s pretty apparent we love the 80’s, can’t get enough of this gem. Modern 80’s vibes (if that makes sense).

Severed Heads – Dead Eyes Opened
If there is one track we’ve love to get the parts for and re work, it’s this.

Beyond The Wizards Sleeve – White Cow (Erol Allan Rework)
We’re big Wizard and Erol fans. This is stunning.

Charlie – Spacer Woman (Vocal)
More 80’s spaced out funkiness.

The Cure – A Forest
Think this tracks still get’s better overtime you listen to it.

Du Tonc – I’m On Fire (Bruce Springsteen Cover)
The only cover we’ve done and possibly our our favourite track.

Tears For Fears – Head Over Heals
Tears for Fears are a big inspiration to us, this track is genius (also featured in a rather awesome film).

Johnny Cash – Personal Jesus
Love the Depeche Mode version, but this is just filthy.

Du Tonc – Wonderland
Our favourite song we’ve written.

Midland – Final Credits
Effortless perfect dance floor record.

Sisterhood – Tunnels (Bicep Remix)
Still cane this, get’s better with each listen.

Sounds like: Kavinsky, ROOSEVELT, Summer Heart, MGMT, Day Wave, Washed Out, Yeasayer, Miike Snow, RAC, Goldroom, Set Mo, Luke Million, Neon Indian, Classixx, Holy Ghost!, Blood Orange

Thomas Azier has been a busy man since we last shared his music, and his move from Paris to Berlin has had a clear impact on him.

Taking a classical approach, Thomas is focusing more on his songwriting and piano playing skills than ever before.

Watch the stylish video for ‘Talk To Me’ below.

Disclosure: I am Thomas Azier’s publicist at the time of writing.

Leitbur – I Need You

Leitbur

Leitbur

Musical couple, Leitbur (Pronounced ‘Light-brr’) (aka Jaron Widman and Samantha Krzyston), return with ‘I Need You’.

Combining his knowledge in film production and love of music, Widman constructs his songs like his short films; each filled with autobiographical scenes, characters, and the occasional flashback or dream sequence. Widman uses the mood and tone of the 1980’s like a cinematographer, framing each song with care, to tell stories that are in equal parts nostalgic, sweet, and filled with pathos.

Widman began collaborating with Krzyston, an aspiring psychotherapist and vocalist. Their romantic relationship caused Leitbur to become a film with two main characters. Soliloquies became conversations, and many of the warmest, and most painful, moments of their relationship were turned into their own scenes.

‘I Need You,’ the first single from their album, ‘Antique Travelers’.

Sounds like: Depeche Mode, BLSHS, Röyksopp, Tesla Boy, TDeL2, Graingerboy, Chvrches, NINA, Tears for Fears

Solomon Grey – Sweet 84

Solomon Grey

Solomon Grey

Solomon Grey have unveiled the new video for ‘Sweet 84’, the latest release taken from their self-entitled LP.

Always offering up cinematic production with expansive electronica, the video for ‘Sweet 84’ features the world through a young child’s eyes growing up in the 80’s.

In their own words; “We wanted to create something with the breadth of emotion and depth that some of our favourite albums encompass. The music and songs just naturally became more and more layered the more we worked on them and bit by bit we learnt how to self-produce and carve out the sound we wanted. The album touches on a lot of things but put together the whole thing ended up reflecting our journey from a very dark place and the metamorphoses we went through over the years of writing and travelling, trying to get it finished.”

The album is out now via Decca Records.

Solomon Grey have also announced a support tour with Above & Beyond and will be appearing live at The Royal Albert Hall on May 5th 2016 amongst other UK dates:

Sunday 3rd April – Eagle Inn, Manchester
Monday 4th April – Green Door Store, Brighton
Tuesday 5th April – The Louisiana, Bristol
Wednesday 6th April – Electrowerkz, London

Sounds like: Heaven 17, Depeche Mode, Ásgeir, Chet Faker, James Vincent McMorrow, Hozier, Lane 8, The National, Son Lux, M83
