Another Los Angeles-pop songstress, TRACE has just shared her new single, ‘You Don’t Know Me’ – a song about first impressions.

TRACE is the daughter of Vietnamese pop icon Carol Kim, and has always been surrounded by music. Despite trying not to follow in her mum’s footsteps, TRACE couldn’t resist penning tracks and recording them in the bathroom.

Roosevelt – Colours / Moving On

Roosevelt

After watching Roosevelt play Iceland Airwaves some time ago, we’ve been slightly obsessed with the Greco-Roman / City Slang artist (ok, we were obsessed before, but the live show ramped the levels up quite a bit).

His latest retro-styled video (synonymous with Roosevelt’s visuals) has been directed by Elliott Arndt and combines two tracks from Roosevelt’s latest self-titled album. Despite the bursts of colour and dancing, the first section has an underlying sadness running throughout, as Roosevelt contemplates a partner leaving, taking all their colours with them on the way. ‘Moving On’ is the next chapter in the story, but it finishes early, leaving us to question has he really moved on?

Sounds like: Cut Copy, Goldroom, Day Wave, The Whitest Boy Alive, Caribou, Tourist., Jagwar Ma, Washed Out, Neon Indian, Du Tonc, Joe Goddard

Julian Jasper – 2AM, Chinatown

Julian Jasper

Los Angeles-based Julian Jasper has just shared his springtime track, ‘2AM, Chinatown’.

Funky, but at the same time a little bit wonky, we love Julian Jasper’s take on pop.

His debut EP ‘2AM, Chinatown/I Don’t Mind’ (Expanded Edition) is out on 5 May via Misra Records.

Sounds like: Day Wave, Steely Dan, Ariel Pink

Jay Pray – Believer

Jay Pray

Jay Pray is the project of Justin P. Romanos who lives in Brooklyn. He sits comfortably alongside the likes of Day Wave and Summer Heart.

The initial slow ridden synths and swelling vocals in his new track, ‘Believer’, soon burst with energy, driving us deep into a near six minute sonic landscape.

Sounds like: Mew, Washed Out, Day Wave, Summer Heart, Goldroom

The Drums – Blood Under My Belt

The Drums

It’s been quite a hiatus for The Drums, but it shouldn’t all be doom and gloom as they’ve just dropped new single, ‘Blood Under My Belt’.

Lo-fi sounds and jiggly guitars lead the track that frontman Jonny Piece has been written to an ex-lover, confessing his wrongs but also his love.

‘Blood Under My Belt’ is taken from the ‘”Abysmal Thoughts”‘ album, out on 16 June via ANTI-. Pre-order here.

Sounds like: Day Wave, Hazel English

HalfNoise – French Class

HalfNoise

HalfNoise

A lot of us probably didn’t pay much attention in French class, but this new track by HalfNoise will definitely keep your concentration levels up.

HalfNoise is the project of Zac Farro, the drummer from Paramore. Perhaps not a sound we would have expected from Zac, but we love the track’s psychedelic synths and swaying falsettos.

His ‘Velvet Face’ EP will be out in March.

Sounds like: Tame Impala, Bad Sounds, Day Wave, Foals, Band Of Horses, Summer Heart, Goldroom

Playlist: Du Tonc

Du Tonc

Du Tonc

The Du Tonc disco boys have finally put together a playlist for us!

Du Tonc are still one of our favourites, which is handy as their new single, ‘Wonderland’ (which also features on the playlist), is one of their favourites too.

V – La Nouvelle Epoque
It’s pretty apparent we love the 80’s, can’t get enough of this gem. Modern 80’s vibes (if that makes sense).

Severed Heads – Dead Eyes Opened
If there is one track we’ve love to get the parts for and re work, it’s this.

Beyond The Wizards Sleeve – White Cow (Erol Allan Rework)
We’re big Wizard and Erol fans. This is stunning.

Charlie – Spacer Woman (Vocal)
More 80’s spaced out funkiness.

The Cure – A Forest
Think this tracks still get’s better overtime you listen to it.

Du Tonc – I’m On Fire (Bruce Springsteen Cover)
The only cover we’ve done and possibly our our favourite track.

Tears For Fears – Head Over Heals
Tears for Fears are a big inspiration to us, this track is genius (also featured in a rather awesome film).

Johnny Cash – Personal Jesus
Love the Depeche Mode version, but this is just filthy.

Du Tonc – Wonderland
Our favourite song we’ve written.

Midland – Final Credits
Effortless perfect dance floor record.

Sisterhood – Tunnels (Bicep Remix)
Still cane this, get’s better with each listen.

Sounds like: Kavinsky, ROOSEVELT, Summer Heart, MGMT, Day Wave, Washed Out, Yeasayer, Miike Snow, RAC, Goldroom, Set Mo, Luke Million, Neon Indian, Classixx, Holy Ghost!, Blood Orange

Bodebrixen – Change It Back

Bodebrixen

Bodebrixen

Danish indie pop outfit, Bodebrixen, are bringing Spanish guitar back, and it’s sounding pretty damn good.

Not only that, the new disco-tinged lo-fi single, ‘Change It Back’, also features strings and synths. Bodebrixen know how to spoil us, but we think the effort is worth it.

Sounds like: Cut Copy, Summer Heart, Day Wave, Clean Bandit, Roosevelt, Tough Alliance

Cloudchord – Forever For Now

Cloudchord

Cloudchord

What do you get if you combine elements of shoegaze, jazz, low-fi, glitch and indie? ‘Forever For Now’ by the Austin-based Cloudchord of course.

Don’t be fooled into thinking this might sound too much like a mishmash of varying genres, as ‘Forever For Now’ is a highly catchy number, suitable for a Majestic Casual generation.

Sounds like: Day Wave, Washed Out, Chet Faker

Du Tonc – Keep Movin’

Du Tonc

Du Tonc

We are big fans of Du Tonc, so had to check out their new B-side, ‘Keep Movin”.

It’s a romantic, disco number with a sexy bass line, that takes us back to retro times and leads us all the way to the dance floor.

It’s counterpart, ‘Wonderland’ drops on 28 November and is the perfect way for Du Tonc to finalise 2016.

Sounds like: Kavinsky, ROOSEVELT, Summer Heart, MGMT, Day Wave, Washed Out, Yeasayer, Miike Snow, RAC, Goldroom, Set Mo, Luke Million
