Our babies SOFI TUKKER are back with more childlike and rampant energy than ever before!
Inspired by all things magical and youthful, SOFI TUKKER are on a mission to inspire, encourage and play with others and ‘Baby I’m A Queen’ does just that.
“Just because you are vulnerable, doesn’t mean you have to let yourself be belittled or infantilized (why is “baby” the default nickname?)” the band says of the song. “We are strong and empowered because we cry, because we desire, and because of what is chaotic about us. This song is about standing up as strong and powerful, because of that courage to share ourselves. It’s about being both a baby and a queen at the same time.”
Their forthcoming debut full-length ‘Treehouse’ comes out on 13 April.
Introducing Sunan, the vibrant new project from Pete Robertson.
Despite taking himself away from the music scene after departing The Vaccines, Sunan has had a “controlled explosion” of ideas from “minimalist string quartets to maximalist 80s-style prog pop.”
One of these results is ‘Faster’, which covers a kaleidoscope of unshackled themes and variations.
We absolutely love Copenhagen-based viking soul MATTIS.
His new single ‘The Chain’ is written about the demise of a failed relationship (we’ve all been there). Ultimately life is tough but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Sounds like: Rationale, Ben Pearce, James Blake, Sampha, Thomas Azier
Futuristic pop duo MoreGiraffes (aka Mark Hadley and Keeley Bumford) are pinned to grab your attention with their short and snappy production techniques, colourful vocal loops and fresh melodies.
Josh Jacobson is effortlessly combining modern R&B with dance-pop in his new single ‘Sideline’ featuring co-production from Gigamesh.
On the subject of the song, he explains,
“Sideline is a song about growth and building in new directions, learning to let go when it’s necessary to move forward. It’s about those inner voices at times of transition that are at once exciting but so challenging emotionally. I think these lyrics will resonate with a lot of people in different ways, so I’m excited to hear how people relate to the song.”
Sounds like: Le Youth, Drake, Justin Timberlake, The Weeknd
Love Ssega shares his video for the charismatic ‘Crazy Deluded’, taken from his ‘Emancipation!’ EP, out today on Kobalt.
Teaming up once again with Russian directors, Anna Patarakina & Daria Geller (who worked with Love Ssega on ‘Mozart’s House’), the video was shot in Sweden and sees Love Ssega further explore his sonic side by offering distinctive vocals and illustrious basslines. The track has been produced by Hugh Worskett (Crystal Fighters, Will Joseph Cook).

Meet Australia’s finest new musical export, Tigertown.
Tigertown’s new track ‘Warriors’ manages to reach new euphoric heights. Much like glitter itself, it brightens up and idealises the concept of love, but who cares as everyone loves glitter and love, right?!
The track is out today on Neon Gold and they will be touring with Tove Lo in July and VÉRITÉ in August and September.
Sounds like: Of Monsters and Men, Passion Pit, The Naked and Famous, Tove Lo, St. Lucia, Crystal Fighters
SpeakmanSound is the production project of Glastonbury natives and brothers, Todd and Guy.
It’s no surprise that growing up, they were surrounded by music – their father was a well-known guitarist heavily involved with the psychedelic music scene.
Not content with producing, SpeakmanSound have also set up a studio in Cricklewood, where young musicians and talented artists practicing across film and music in North London come to jam and party.
They’ve enlisted their close friend, Sharky, on their debut release, ‘In Flight’; an uplifting track with tropical elements and psychedelic qualities. Listen below.
UK Shows
14th March – The Waiting Room, London (supporting GLASS)
10th May – Electrowerkz, London (Speakman Collective Experience)
‘In Flight’ is out now via their own label, ETLW Records.
Big up upcoming producer/singer/songwriter/DJ, ELKKA and her new video for ‘Try’.
Combining elements of pop, garage, and electronica with what sounds like samples of the Street Fighter game, the video is equally as complex. It has been directed by Adrian Ardelean and is the first in a trilogy where each EP will be accompanied by an intimate video.
‘Try’, co-produced with Pop Morrison, has been taken from ELKKA’s debut EP, ‘Her’, out now.
“This series of EPs are a lyrical documentary about a pivotal moment in my life. The series follows my experiences of meeting the first girl I ever dated. HER. It was completely intoxicating and for a brief moment it felt like it could have been more than just lust but of course, the drama and chaos she brought came later which you will hear all about in second and third part of the series – THEM and US.’’
Sounds like: Clean Bandit, The xx, Hot Chip, Crystal Fighters, Jamie xx
Sofi Tukker is a New York based, indie-dance duo, comprised of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern.
Complete with popping jungle scenes, zebra print and some captivating to camera performances, the vintage video for ‘Drinkee’ showcases the duo’s cool and quirky nature.
If ‘Drinkee’ is the party, ‘Moon Tattoo’ is for the morning after. We’ve included this track as well, just because we love it so!
Their debut EP, ‘Soft Animals’ is out now via Ultra Records, and can be purchased on iTunes.
