Harlee – Now I Know

We recently discovered rising pop-star, Harlee and we haven’t been able to get enough of her stunning debut four-track EP, ‘It’s Personal’.

The lead single from the EP, ‘Now I Know’, was written when Harlee was just 14 and explores the feelings that she experienced coming out of her first relationship and the first time she had ever felt pain.

Anna Pancaldi – Peace

Anna Pancaldi releases her guitar-driven song, ‘Peace’.

Since working with producer Matt Ingram (Florence & The Machine, Lianne La Havas, Laura Marling), Pancaldi has really got down to business honing her sound and adding more grit to her already heart-felt songwriting skills.

On ‘Peace’, Pancaldi states,

“A challenge at first but now an exhilarating awakening having discovered and then explored the electric guitar. ‘Peace’ is my first ‘foot stomper’ track which I think will surprise listeners who’ve been on the journey with me so far. It feels a bold evolution for me so here we go.”

We stumbled upon Chicago-based newbie OSTON on SoundCloud randomly this morning and just had to include her debut single ‘bad’ in our weekly gems.

The Chicago-based songstress embraces the misfit world, snuggling up nicely to acts such as Billie Eilish and RALPH, with her captivating take on pop.

Expect her ‘Sitting at the Kids Table,’ EP soon.

Uk producer Calper and North London artist Latir have teamed up on new single ‘Run To The Moon’.

With it’s subtle of hints of dance sensibilities, the track never quite takes off in that direction, but it’s not big deal as we absolutely love the romantic escapism inspired in the track.

Super Duper – Horizons

Experimenting with vocal chops and melodic riffs, ‘Horizons’ is upbeat and memorable.

Exciting Nashville producer and creator Super Duper has managed to do something unheard of – create a repetitive song that is quite simply addictive, and in no way annoying. Even Super Duper puts it on repeat, and you should too.

Von Sell – Hell No

We have been huge fans of Brooklyn-based artist Von Sell for a long time, and we are extremely happy he is back well and singing again after a six month break due to vocal chord issues.

Von Sell takes more of a funky attitude in the production techniques of ‘Hell No’ but we dig it – we’re gonna call it his come-back track!

Ramblin

Simply Red is my favourite band ever. I was listening to his Stars Deluxe album on the plane, and it had these amazing acapellas of old blues songs on the end that I’d never heard. Decided to make a bootleg with one of them.

Silence

Always loved this tune. Used to cover it in an old band. Decided to do it with Youngr.

London Grammar – Hey Now

I was super drunk one night on the night tube in London and had a part of this vocal in my head but had NO idea what the words or song was. So I was just singing it to strangers untill someone told me what they thought it might be … Next day I found the stems and made a bootleg.

Gorillaz – Feel Good and Michael Jackson – Billie Jean

Because it’s the greatest beat in pop, and one of the greatest basslines in pop. It was almost too obvious, I had to check if someone had done it before!

Jungle – The Heat

Always liked Jungle‘s vibe. Actually did a remix with an old band I was in that never turned into anything, so revisited the vocal and made a new mix!

Zhu – Faded

Again, dope vocal. Remember the first time I heard it. Instantly wanted to do my own thing with it.

Daft Punk – One More Time

What an amazing message. And the fact it just repeats it’s self so many times. It’s brilliant.

Craig David – Fill Me In

Cause he’s a UK legend! Grew up with his music. And his vocal style suited mine, so it worked really easily for me.

The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition

I had made a bootleg with a Marvin Gaye sample, and the guitar line I wrote kept reminding me of The Temper Trap song (which I also fucking loved) .. decided last minute to put The Temper Trap vocal over Marvin Gaye and it instantly found its magic.

All Saints – Pure Shores

Pure shores was one of the first CDs I ever bought. Bought it from Woolworths in Manchester and it cost £6.99! I was trying to write a dance song in 3/4 and the chords I was using gave me the same emotion that lure shores did.

Tradiio Exclusive: Interview with Red Emperor

Indietronica was founded in Brighton, so when we discover brilliant new Brighton-based bands, we get very excited.

One of these bands is Red Emperor, who we discovered on Tradiio as last week’s artist of the day. We therefore couldn’t pass on the opportunity of interviewing them…

How did you meet and why did you start making music together?

Charlie: I met Nav and Ollie during school and college respectively, and Ed had been a close childhood friend. Nav and I had discussed starting an original, Indie/Rock band for a while so one day, I got us all to get together for a rehearsal and the rest was history! We all had similar tastes in music and similar ambitions so it felt natural.

Describe your sound in three words.

Sharp. Intimate. Infatuating.

Where do you cite your musical influences from?

Our influences include: Foals, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kasabian, Oasis, Haim, Queens of the Stone Age, The Wombats, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, and Marvin Gaye.

You won a competition to play Blended Festival earlier this year. How did that come about, and what was it like sampling the high life of being a musician?

Yeah crazy story! It wasn’t a competition though. It happened a couple months after releasing our debut EP and music video when out of the blue we received a call from one of the event organisers saying that he had seen the music video for ‘Kink In Your Soul’ on Youtube and wanted us to play at the event! After the initial excitement, we passed it off as too good to be true but next thing we knew flights were booked and we were on our way.

When out there, we were treated like royalty and sharing the stage with the likes of Craig David, Jessie Ware and Kasabian was an absolute honour! We had our own private air conditioned dressing room right next door to Kasabian and hanging out with them was pretty surreal!

It’s definitely been the most exciting show of our careers so far and we can’t wait to see where our music will take us next!

Congrats on being Tradiio’s artist of the day last week. You must be chuffed knowing that so many people have invested in you.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, the amount of support we’ve had through Tradiio is incredibly humbling, not only from the fans and investors, but also the brilliant Tradiio staff too. We’re lucky enough to be heading back to the recording studio on the 12th of November to record a new single and it’s all thanks to Tradiio and those who invested in us. We can’t wait to get some new songs up so we can give something back.

We love new music at Indietronica. What new music are you listening to?

At the moment we are loving the new Foals album but further off the radar, there’s great new music coming from other Brighton bands such as Tigercub, Cessna Deathwish, Fickle Friends and Varjak. Be sure to check them out!
