Coyote Island – Hello Silence

coyote island hello silence

Maine-based songwriter Mike O’Hehir aka Coyote Island has just returned with a new single titled ‘Hello Silence‘.

Possibly his most radio release to date, the song is a contagious pop cut made of sing along melodies and enriched by sun kissed reggae vibes.

Speaking about it, he explains: ““Hello Silence” is about taking a break from the noise. The always turning wheels of thought in today’s era of information can be overwhelming. Sometimes a little peace and quiet can really set my mind straight. It’s like the calm after a storm. My favorite line is in the second verse: “seen a rainbow colored sky and I don’t even have to wonder why”. This carries some personal sentiment for me. Rather than a philosophical quest for meaning, it’s about demystifying the unknown by simply embracing it. In that letting go, so much more is received through the experience of awareness and presence. I’ve come to enjoy the simplicity of life lately, and this song reflects that. No matter how many trips or far out you get, sometimes catching the right sunset just really takes the cake. I wrote the lyrics shortly after the pandemic set in and they are very much about our current times. In a way, I look at this time like the end… but also the beginning of something brand new. “Hello Silence” invites you to tune out at the static and tap your toes.

Coyote Island – 11

coyote island

In the imagination of Maine-based songwriter Mike O’Hehir, Coyote Island is a sound and a place.

It is where he discovered himself as an artist and recognized the crossroads of his musical journey. Where folk meets pop and reggae meets R&B. Rather than choosing one path to follow, Coyote Island stands in the middle weaving them all together.

He’s brand-new but his music is already making waves (Spotify has recently added him on their Fresh Finds playlist and his 2 previously released singles topped the Hype Machine chart).
His third one is titled ‘11′ and it’s another demonstration of his incredible talent in mixing folk and indie vibes with an irresistible pop sensibility.

Speaking about it, he explains: “’11’ portrays the peak of Summer. It’s about discerning Love from lust, catching yourself in the heat, and believe it or not- ‘taking it slow’. “I was making demos in Garageband one day….these chords came to me and I got excited. I put a mic up and the whole song poured out in one shot.
