Meredith – Levels

Meredith

Meredith

“Australian musician”. That is all we really know about Meredith.

After listening to her two tracks, we’ve come to the conclusion that if you cut Banks in half, she would be the tender, softer part. She is more innocent in respect of her tone and lyrics, but that’s not to say her music isn’t top notch. Just listen to ‘Levels’ and you’ll understand why.

The video explores the often tangled, delicate and fraught dynamic that dictates the course of female friendships. As the pair soundlessly go through the motions of companionship, there’s an instantly-recognisable element of longing for closeness but actively keeping a safe distance. Secretive, ambiguous notes are passed from girl to girl and collected in a delicate crystal jar, representative of the calculated moves we make as we relate to each other on different levels. As Meredith herself puts it, “Ultimately, it’s focusing on all the little things we don’t say to each other”.

Sabella

Following Sabella‘s hit ‘Loving Like This’, that was featured on our April playlist is new track ‘Made It Right’.

The 19 year old further oozes confidence with ‘Made It Right’; lyrically wise beyond her years and proving a knack for detailing the very core of emotion that make up her songs.

‘Made It Right’ has been taken from the ‘Home Truths’ EP, which is out via Best Fit Recordings on 4 September.

Blooms – Love

Blooms

Blooms

Some serious talent. Blooms is Louise Cunnane.

The Hackney based, Irish born artist began writing music as a child, but crippling stage fright meant putting dreams on hold while finding another path. Her initial tracks were born out of heartache as a relationship with her then boyfriend came to an end. Moving out of their home in Dublin and back to her family home in Mayo, Cunnane used her feelings of loss and despair to create her debut EP, ‘If’, a collection of tracks which is described as “the story of a relationship from beginning to end”.

‘Love’ is the second track taken from her second EP, ‘Still’. Produced by PNUT (Amy Winehouse, Holychild).

Speaking on the track, Cunnane states:

” Love is a reflection on my first EP; remembering all of the great parts – which is so easily done after the breakdown of anything – but then strongly reminding myself that I have come too far to come back. I have been locked in this weird little personal battle and I refuse to be defined by it. ”

Also developing her own label, Skin On Skin Records, we can’t wait to hear more!
