Gryffin – Nobody Compares To You

Gryffin

Indie dance producer Gryffin releases new single, ‘Nobody Compares To You’.

The longtime guitarist and classically trained pianist has a knack for creating radio-ready and dance-worthy songs and ‘Nobody Compares To You’ doesn’t disappoint.

A-Minor – Next To You

A-Minor

London-based producer, A-Minor has turned to singing in his new single, ‘Next To You’.

He has already produced remixes for Raleigh Ritchie, Yousef and Bipolar Sunshine, so it’s no shock that ‘Next To You’ is just as fresh.

It’s a highly melodic number, with tidy drum patterns and generous nods to commercial house music throughout. A perfect one for summer, so polish those flip flops!

Interview: Gryffin

Gryffin

You should all know who Gryffin is by now. He’s a producer and DJ from Los Angeles who creates dance-led indietronica.

We caught up with Gryffin to talk music, old and new.

Hey Gryffin, how are you?
I’m doing very well! Super excited about the release of the new single and am currently working hard on new music and preparing my new live show for the upcoming festival season.

Describe your sound in three words.
Uplifting, emotional, empowering.

You put together a playlist for us a while back. Have your musical taste changed in any way since then?
I don’t know if they’ve changed particularly but there’s always new music that’s coming out that I admire!

What was it like working with Josef Salvat?
That was an incredible experience. I had been a huge fan of him since I first heard “Open Season” so I was very excited for the opportunity to work with him. He’s a very cool guy and is super talented so it made my life a lot easier.

Are there any plans to tour the UK?
I was just there! Spent almost 2 weeks out there touring throughout the U.K. with Sigala which was so awesome. I had never been to any places in the U.K. besides London so it was a great experience getting to travel to different places and meeting people there. Hopefully I will come back soon!

We love new music at Indietronica. What new music are you listening to?
I’m currently really into the Khalid album and am really digging LANY at the moment.

Playlist: Gryffin

Gryffin

Gryffin

Los Angeles-based producer/multi instrumentalist, Gryffin, has been going from strength to strength over the last couple of years.

We thought it was about time he put together a playlist for you lot.

Snakehips & MØ – Don’t Leave (Gryffin Remix)
I really love MØ’s raw emotion, and I wanted to be able to amplify in my own way with this remix but with a little bit of a twist from my normal style.

Louis The Child – Love Is Alive (feat. Elohim)
The Louis the Child guys have been on fire recently. “Love Is Alive” has their signature sound but in a indier direction.

RUFUS DU SOL – Innerbloom (What So Not Remix)
This remix is always awesome to play out in my DJ sets.

Illenium – Fractures (feat. Nevve)
Illenium is a great friend of mine and his new track “Fractures” shows exactly why he is one of the best future bass producers out there.

The xx – On Hold
The xx have been a favorite band of mine for a while. Really love this track off their new album.

Twenty One Pilots – Heavydirtysoul
TOP have the perfect blend of rock, electronic, and pop elements in their music. “Heavydirtysoul” is one of my favorite’s from their latest album.

Whethan – Savage feat. Flux Pavilion & MAX
Whethan is one of the most talented young producers out there and I was really excited when he released “Savage.”

San Holo – Light
“Light” is an unlikely crossover track but its been really cool to see it catch onto the commercial crowd.

Gryffin – Whole Heart (Young Bombs Remix)
Young Bombs absolutely crushed this remix of “Whole Heart.” Their Snapchat is hilarious too.

Mura Masa & A$AP Rocky – Love$ick
Mura Masa is hands-down one of the best producers out their. His collaboration with A$AP Rocky is the perfect blend of urban and dance.

Gryffin – Heading Home Feat. Josef Salvat

Josef Salvat twice in week! We are really spoiling you, and not just due to Josef, but because it’s also NYC-based Gryffin‘s first original release.

Following hot in the steps of the likes of Goldroom and RAC with his talented and heartfelt remixes (including Bipolar Sunshine, Years & Years, Tove Lo), it’s no surprise that his own material seriously cuts the mustard.

‘Heading Home’ is an upbeat piano-laden track about defying the odds.

Purchase on iTunes.

Sivu – The Nile (Feat. Rae Morris)

Sivu

Sivu

Time for a new track from Sivu featuring label buddy, Rae Morris.

‘The Nile’ was produced by Charlie Andrew (Alt-J) and whilst it feels quite romantic as a duet, Sivu wrote the track around the idea of watching someone close to you pass away slowly (and everything you’d want to say to someone you’ve spent your whole life with beforehand). He asked Rae to sing on it after the pair toured together last year.

‘The Nile’ is the double-A-side to forthcoming single ‘Sleep’; taken from Sivu’s debut album ‘Something On High’.

Sounds like: Rae Morris, Bombay Bicycle Club, Alt-J, Fiona Apple, Boxed In, SOHN, James Blake, One Bit, Bipolar Sunshine

Oh Wonder – Rain

Oh Wonder - The Rain

Oh Wonder – The Rain

Oh Wonder is a writing duo from London. They are releasing one song at the start of every month, culminating in their debut album in September 2015.

We sum up their sound as monochrome with a hint of sparkle.

The fifth track on the agenda is ‘The Rain’. Less spine tingling than former track ‘All We Do’, ‘The Rain’ offers up silky smooth soulful harmonies over minimal beats, and completes with a brass interlude.

Sounds like: IYES, Kid Astray, Banks, Fickle Friends, Monogem, Paperwhite, PROM, Blood Orange, Years & Years, Bipolar Sunshine, Broods, ASTR

Bipolar Sunshine – Daydreamer

Bipolar Sunshine - Daydreamer

Bipolar Sunshine – Daydreamer

Bipolar Sunshine is the Manchester raised alternative pop sound of Adio Marchant.

This time in collaboration with SBTRKT and with production by Fraser T Smith (Adele, Lily Allen, Sam Smith), new single ‘Daydreamer’ transmits to your ears an upbeat and catchy pop sound with intelligent lyrics.

The Tomek Ducki-directed video for the track is a kaleidoscopic vision of a daydreamer’s wild mind, and definitely conjures up the romance of escapism.

‘Daydreamer’ is released on 25 January 2015 followed by a UK headline tour in March and April. Pre order on iTunes here.
