M83 (aka Anthony Gonzalez) makes a huge return with ‘Go!’, another track taken from his ‘JUNK’ album, out today via Naive.

Taking more of a Mark Ronson spin on things, ‘Go!’ is an exultant synth pop charmer that features lead vocals from French chanteuse Mai Lan, and a funky guitar solo by virtuoso Steve Vai.

Gonzalez describes the collaboration with Vai: “We asked for the craziest space solo possible, which wasn’t hard for him. He sent us three different takes, and we blended two to make the ultimate Steve Vai solo. It was amazing to work with him.”

An amalgamation of sounds, M83 is once again one step ahead on all levels of music innovation.

M83 – You And The Night

M83YouandtheNight

French indietronica legend M83, aka Anthony Gonzalezhas been taking a break from the traditional output of produced albums and singles, instead choosing to soundtrack various films. An advocate of emotive visuals to complement music, M83 has just revealed a new track entitled ‘Ali & Matthias’ off the upcoming soundtrack for Film You and the Night.

M83 states that “The soundtrack pays tribute to French soundtracks from the 70′s and is much more intimate than ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’ and the ‘Oblivion’ Soundtrack. This score is really for lovers and ghosts.”

You and the Night, is Gonzalez’s brother Yann’s debut feature-length film, about a young couple who, along with their transvestite maid, prepare for an orgy. It will be digitally available on November 19th, and you can watch the trailer here M83 created the soundtrack alongside Morgan Kibby of White Sea.

M83 also created the soundtrack to the sci-fi thriller Oblivion which you can listen to here.

As we wait longingly for the next full studio release by M83 since highly acclaimed ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’ in 2011 (recently made platinum via MUTE Records)his soundtrack work will certainly suffice.
