Rachel K Collier – Rust

Rachel K Collier - Rust

Welsh solo artist and producer, Rachel K Collier returns with her addictive track ‘Rust’.

We are obsessed with the song’s beautiful, metallic riffs, and house-influenced percussive grooves, as well as the highly relatable lyrics that discuss how relationships can become stale and deteriorate unless you keep them polished and fresh, “left to rot, things wont changed…polish off, make it shine”.

Expect Rachel’s second EP in early Autumn and debut album early 2018.

Playlist: Alex Maxwell

Alex Maxwell

Alex Maxwell

It’s always good to be clean, and no popstars come as fresh as London-based Alex Maxwell.

Want to know what her secret is? Showering to this playlist of course.

Cat Power – 3,6,9
I love her, her attitude, her power….

Lana del Rey – West Coast
…moody…vibey….right up my street

Only Real – Lemonade
I know all the lyrics to this song. Attempting to rap along to it in the shower gets me hyped up and ready for the day.

Moodoid – Je Suis La Montagne
A perfect symphony of psychedelic madness…especially toward the end.

Grimes – Flesh Without Blood
So obsessed with this girl.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Zero
Their songs never disappoint. Definitely one of my go-to’s… And Karen O is just too cool.

Bishop Briggs – River
I just recently discovered her and I’m hooked. Her voice is SO powerful.

Fleetwood Mac – The Chain
My favourite song by my favourite band. Pure genius.

Father John Misty – Strange Encounter
I could listen to this album on repeat and wouldn’t get bored. The music, the lyrics, his voice… pure and strong.

Russian Red – Cigarettes
The melody, her voice and intricate simplicity of this song is like a breath of fresh air.

Cigarettes after Sex – K
I love their sound. Their full EP is really worth a listen, and they do a sick cover of the classic “Keep On Loving You” by REO Speedwagon.

Myself! – No Flight
Out of all my tracks, I think this one fits best with the playlist.

Sounds like: Susanne Sundfør, First Aid Kit, All Saints, Zella Day, Lana Del Rey, Kylie Minogue

Draper – Jealous (Feat BB Diamond)

Draper

Draper

No doubt there is skill in creating a great pop track, but there is also skill in sourcing up and coming artists to collaborate with, and the latter is where UK producer, Draper, really shows his A-game.

Draper has just dropped ‘Jealous’, featuring the talents of singer, BB Diamond.

It’s an electronic tinged track with soulful vocals and a uplifting chorus…enough to make any other producer pretty jealous.

‘Jealous’ is out today via M:UK, and taken off his upcoming EP, ‘Luminous’, out on 13 January 2017.

The EP also includes Draper’s recent track with Sam Sure. Watch the video below.

Disclosure: I am Draper’s publicist at the time of writing.

Catch Draper playing the Camden Assembly in London on 13 December. Limited tickets still available here.

Sounds like: Pistol Shrimp, Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Jess Glynne, Katy B, Ella Henderson, Rita Ora, All Saints

GIUNGLA – Sand

GIUNGLA

GIUNGLA

Meet Giungla; an Italian-born singer-songwriter based in Bologna. Her name means ‘jungle’ in Italian.

Expansive guitar riffs and earthy vocals, her current release, ‘Sand’, evokes a sun-drenched audioscape that sounds wistful at times. The song starts out soft and almost hesitant as it slowly builds into a crescendo of echoing “never real” over and over again, fondly reminiscent of days gone by.

All Saints – One Strike

All Saints - One Strike

All Saints – One Strike

All Saints!

They were my favourite band of the 90’s, so this is a super proud moment for us…

The foursome are back on our shores with emotional new track ‘One Strike’.

Managing to stay completely recognisable as an All Saints’s track, yet current, despite the lengthy hiatus, the track was written by Shaznay Lewis about Nicole Appleton’s divorce to Liam Gallagher and is a call to arms for all women struggling with a break-up.

Pre-order their album, ‘Red Flag’ on iTunes. It’s out on 8th April.

Sounds like: Little Dragon, RAINDEAR, Blood Orange
