Miles Graham – Let It Shine

Miles Graham

Dublin musician, Miles Graham, isn’t one that you would usually associate with electronic music, but his recent collaborations with L’Tric and Don Diablo suggest otherwise, but we are not here to discuss his electronic endeavours, but rather his new track ‘Let It Shine’.

The visuals for ‘Let It Shine’ are by Peter J Cooney, and follows the theme of the track – a beautifully down to earth narrative following the pain, anguish and ultimately, elation that we all experience in day to day life, perfectly demonstrated by Mile’s apt lyrics laden over very radio friendly gospel melodies.

Sounds like: James Morrison, Jack Savoretti, Ben Howard, Foy Vance, Ed Sheeran, Van Morrison, Alex Clare

Leo Stannard is a 20-year-old multi-instrumentalist from Leicester, UK.

Leo is making anthems with pulsing electronic production, moving slightly away from his previous, more acoustic material.

On his new track, Leo explains,

“’In My Blood’ is all about people who become such an integral part of your life, people who don’t necessarily share the same blood-line as you but become like family. It’s all about the human connection.”

Oli Hannaford – Lily

Oli Hannaford

Oli Hannaford

Devon talent, Oli Hannaford, returns with ‘Lily’.

Another self-produced track, Oli explains “Lily is a slightly complicated way of explaining a period of time where you’re really struggling. I was recently reading about a fish that swims around looking for lily pads to jump on because it breathes air (as well as water? No clue), and there are references to that search for the lily pad throughout. It’s also a bit about taking the struggle and turning it into a positive thing, broadening your mind set a little, but always giving yourself just enough breathing space.”

Sounds like: Boxed In, Tracy Chapman, Rationale, Rudimental, Alex Clare, James Blake, John Legend, Will Heard, The Levity

Josef Salvat – Paradise

Josef Salvat

Josef Salvat

One of our favourite Australian “cynical pop” artists, Josef Salvat, returns with ‘Paradise’.

The track (co-produced with Matt Posner) is more upbeat-sounding that Josef’s usual material, but it still contains a thought-invoking message to all you music types out there.

Sounds like: James Blake, Alex Clare, Jamie Woon

Oli Hannaford – Free Things

Oli Hannaford

Oli Hannaford

Stunning debut track, ‘Free Things’, is released by creative newcomer Oli Hannaford.

Vocal, lyrical and melodic comparisons have been made to the likes of Will Heard and Sam Smith, but we think Oli stands as his own contender for musical acclaim.

With over 20 songs to choose from, Oli has been writing for years and has no plans of stopping anytime soon with intentions of creating big electronic live shows to enhance the depth of his already impactful sound.

‘Free Things’ is out via Downtown Artists and available for purchase on iTunes.

Belgrave – Dancing In The Silence

Belgrave

Belgrave

Belgrave is 24-year-old Londoner, Laurie Belgrave.

Having played in various indie bands around South East London from the age of 16, Laurie became frustrated at having to shout over noisy guitars and decided on a change in direction. From the retreat of a seaside cabin in Cornwall, Laurie began writing and producing on his own. These honest recordings captured the raw emotion of a young man finding his voice.

Liam Howe (FKA Twigs, Jessie Ware, Lana Del Rey) shared Laurie’s vision and has been a collaborator on the stripped-back project ever since, culminating in him producing the three tracks that make up his debut EP, ‘Echoes’.

‘Dancing in the Silence’ is the first track from the EP:

The ‘Echoes EP’ is out on 17 July.

Sounds like: Alex Clare, James Blake, Yeasayer, Depeche Mode, Fyfe, Ben Khan, Shura

Josef Salvat – Till I Found You

Josef Salvat

Josef Salvat

Australia’s loss is the UK’s gain. Josef Salvat. An artist that needs no introduction.

New single, ‘Till I Found You’, includes thought provoking lyrics (a quintessential feature of Salvat’s work), endearing vocals, slow and heavy beats, and a beautifully shot video to finish.

Sounds like: James Blake, Alex Clare, Jamie Woon

Fine Animal – Old Dollar

Fine Animal by Josh Smith Photography

Fine Animal by Josh Smith Photography

Fine Animal is a Columbus-based dreampop trio comprising of KC Wilder, Lucy Oaks, and Kelan Gilbert. They formed in 2013.

Describing themselves as “indie electro, dream pop, glo-fi, chill wave music for ice skating”, we would agree. Although new track ‘Old Dollar’ was a creation based on a traditional work song ‘Old Dollar Mamie’ (which was recorded in 1947 at Lambert Camp at the Mississippi State Penitentiary), it is deep electro full of futuristic beats and halo vocals.

Sounds like: One Bit, Phantogram, Will Heard, Broods, Alex Clare, AGYO, Keep Shelly in Athens, Ballet School
